So thankful for this and the potty training video. The recommendation for the waterproof mats was a lifesaver for us. I adopted a starved pound puppy who had "just had puppies and been dumped" they said. A couple days after adoption she had seven puppies. A friend had a whelping box which was perfect, but now that they're four weeks old your videos are keeping us all happy and healthy and streamlined. Thank you!

Breeders alway sell their puppies for thousands and though so it's probably easier to just get a rescue one
@@jeberycheeseington6221 yes that is true but breeders sell full bred dogs which are worth a lot. Also they teach and train them in some ways. Some animals from shelters can have diseases

How often do you feed them the mash or do you leave it with them the entire time? My puppies are 4 wks and mom is not wanting to feed as much. I gave them their first taste yesterday and they loved it. Your videos are so informative. Thank you!
We leave it in there. If mom is coming in and out you’ll have to take it!! She’ll eat it instead!

I’m new to caring for puppies, and I just love your videos.. I have 7 4 week puppies that I want to start feeding them. But I don’t know exactly how much I should give them plus how many times a day.. mama is not breastfeeding them enough.
It all depends. Mush is very hard to measure how much they actually eat. But if you are offering it to them a couple times a day. Make sure mom isn’t eating it!
5:18 A few weeks back I came home from spring brake to my mom blending dog food in the blender that I make my protein smoothies for football I can’t blame her since I send her dog videos but come on mom really 😂😑 she came home from work and seen me drinking a smoothie and was laughing hysterically as she told me that she makes “Leo’s” food in the blender

Hi! Love your videos! I have a litter of puppies and I’m giving them goat milk power mixed with water and blended kibble but their stool is watery. They are about to be 6 weeks old, when should I start transitioning them into dry kibble?
6 weeks old should be able to have soft kibble. So let it sit in water and then give it . After they get used to eating that you can do both hard and soft.

I have a question about the potty trays...do puppies have big enough feet that they don't fall through? And are they at all averse to walking on the grates?
They are big enough. I have occasionally had one that was small so I put a cookie cooling sheet on top of that, temporary fix for like a week until their big enough. They are not averse to it at all.

Mom went back to her guardian home? How is that transition for the puppies?
It is raw, and yes Isla went back home. They transition when they are showing signs of being done nursing.
Can I ask about the goats milk? My mom's isn't producing enough milk, the vet recommended esbilac replacement milk, which I already had in the goats milk powder. The puppies want nothing to do with it and when I said I had goats milk before she even let me finish and tell her it was the brand she recommended, she told me goats milk can cause upset stomach.
Goats are smaller, and makes sense to me that it would be OK, so I'm glad to see you using it.
I would like to know what brand it is so I can see if something is avaliable in my area.

Hey! Every vet has some differences. The goats milk for us is used for maybe 2-3 days. But you could try making mush with water and canned dog food?
Do their feet not fall through the cage wire ? I have yorkie puppies and I love your potty idea but half their body would fall through. Not sure what to substitute with..?

Yes, we recommend putting a cookie cooling rack on top to make sure their feet don’t go thru!
My brother adopted a 4 week of pit puppy--unweaned of course--we thought the litter was older. We tried everything soaked dry, canned and cow's milk and maybe some goat milk. Cow milk made her bloated and her butt itched, but she wouldn't eat anything else until real chicken broth and meat was cooked and that was what she was weaned on. . . Adding rice bit by bit. They say dry powdered cow milk is easier to digest than fresh cow and goat might be easier, but dry powdered cow milk is all they use in MOST puppy milk formulas and then add fat and protein. Whey is powdered milk protein.

What if we don't got a place to buy goats milk what can we use. Just got a small puppy. She puked out the dog food that was fed to her. I know that she's too small for dog food so we need to buy her puppy food and mix it with what? If we don't have goats milk? Any suggestions? In a bind here.

Can you share how you reduce the goat milk? I know you said you use a pint size bottle for first feeding but do you do a whole bottle times 2- 3 feedings per day and then day 2 you do 3/4 pint etc or how do you cut out the milk? Also can you describe 4 week versus 5, 6, 7 and week 8 what the food looks like? Thank you

I was told by numerous people that cow's milk, goat's milk or human infant formula should not be fed to puppies because dogs don't have the enzymes to process lactose. Not sure if I got that exactly right, but it was something like that.
I have not heard that! I will definitely do more research, but the advice we got was from our reproductive vet.
After looking online I can't find any information that suggest a puppy should be without mum before they are atleast 6 weeks old, most say ideally 8 weeks.
Is 4 weeks not too early?
If they were not getting attention from any other dog I would understand that. But Bella steps in for socialization.

It varies with their cycles but any where from 12-16.
Hi, how much food do you give the puppies per day? We have a litter of 7 mini Aussies right now and have been mixing their food for each meal until the last few days. I started to premix their kibble with raw milk and let it soak in the fridge until it's time for them to eat, then we heat it up a bit. (90 degrees) The puppies have been having diarrhea the last few days and occasionally vomiting. I am just wondering if we are over feeding them. I switched to just raw goat milk with a little added sugar to prevent low blood sugar for the past 2 feedings. Hoping something a little more bland would settle their stomachs. I have just read that free feeding isn't recommend due to potential overeating. However, if you have success with it, it's an option I would like to try. Thank you for your channel! Very informative. My 5 year old likes to watch and learn!
I’m so glad! I have found that most puppies self regulate. If they are having loose stool the mixture might be to watery.

2x a day. Most of the time they have food thru out the afternoon. Then I give more for the evening

Yeah I tried this and the mama didn't like me giving it to her 4 week old 5 samoyed puppies. It is the good stuff from Orijen puppy food. 5 samoyed puppies were straining while they were pooping and the mama wasn't cleaning that poop up. I only tried one day and the puppies gobbled it up. The next day we stopped with this knucklehead's winging it measurement and the puppies were back to normal poop that the mama would clean up. This video is more about her 2 blenders and showing off her house, shorten the video and get to the point.
