- We’re finally back with a new video. I have to admit I did feel extremely guilty destroying this typewriter as it is really well built, and from the looks of it was preserved very nicely from the previous owner. You can see in the video how sturdy this beast is.

I love that Shawn and Matt just don't give a shit who they piss off. Real chads who just do what they wanna do and I've got mad respect for them as a creator for that. And their videos are just good quality entertainment anyway.

Like my vintage fans, not only does it remind me of Dreambox, it even reminds me of Memory Motors and some math game that I used to have on a black computer when I played in the office. This electrical hum also reminds me of when there might have been some place with ceiling fans and portable fans I might have seen at nighttime when I was younger.

What kinds of things do you get yelled at for at your job that are out of your control?
I have to deal with irate customers. Don't get me wrong, there’s a lot of costumers out there that are an absolute pleasure to service, but there’s a large percent that are unreasonable and take out there frustration on the techs. We receive a number of customer instruct calls where we basically have to go to their home and instruct them how to properly use there machine. Most customers are not too happy when they here that there $800 washing machine that they just purchased cannot handle the same amount of cloths in one load as their old unit that lasted 20+ years. Plus we have times that we don't have a particular part in stock that's needed for the repair and it needs to be ordered for a return visit and the customer is chewing me out as if I can pull the part out of my ass. Then you have to take the scolding’s for the offices mistakes when they send you the wrong address, the wrong symptom, the wrong model number, or when they set the call up as in warranty when it's really out of warranty. Those are just some of the things I get chewed out for. Apart from getting yelled at you also deal with crazy people, people more crazy than me LOL. There’s been a few times were the customer made me feel so uncomfortable with their erratic behavior that I came real close to walking out of that particular job. Bottom line customer service sucks. I actually don't mind fixing appliances but dealing with customers is a real drag.

You guys are crazy!!! It makes me laugh when you pulverize stuff. I actually learned how to type on manual typewriter when I was going to middle school. Back then, the electric typewriters were out, but were more expensive. Nowadays, everyone uses a word processor, and it's very rare to see these typewriters.

Zeno Machine I could fix this. Would need the entire upper, bottom casing, cover, hundreds of parts. This would be a $300-400 repair. But, not impossible. Have all these parts in stock now.

Just saw the end... $350 and this unit for salvage for a complete replacement after seeing the awfulness that this went through.
Though I don't agree with what you've done, it stands as great proof on the well built, durable, reliability of the Smith-Corona. If they were still building these machines today the expression and advertising footage (with this video as proof) could be like Timex's "it takes a licking and keeps on ticking," or that commercial shooting a bullet--in slow motion--through a Master Lock, yet it keeps locked tight.

the newer typewriters used a different system for typing that made them more efficient. you could erase, and since instead of using individual little hammers with a letter on them... it used a ball with the letters on it. so you could type faster without jamming it up.
I didn't know there is still typewriters being made.
