The mysterious challenger Katsuki defeats Megumi and challenges Danji to a match, but Danji has a condition: to defeat Yu-yu first. And that's how Yu-yu started his special training with Danji for the cardfight one week later...

Yu-yu learning the rules should’ve honestly been it’d own episode, so the show could actually go over what the rules are of the game they’re promoting

Yeah, it's like they just assume everyone's seen the original series, which, okay, I imagine most people watching this would have, but it doesn't change the fact that this is a spinoff telling a brand new story. They really should have taken that into consideration. Even G kinda did that, and keep in mind the fights in that show were rather short and would often skip strategies as well.
Overdress is much more sus than the other vanguard shows

Same not to be rude or anything it put more fun and life to the episodes watching them had me so excited to go online and buy more packs but now I guess its more story based
It also helped to teach a person how to play and use the gimmicks

As you can see, Yu-yu's deck has a bit of an update to his build, adding in two copies of Vairina Arcs for it's ever useful Draw 2, along with Velocihazard for some early game pressure. While Sunlight Punishment is included, it can act as a backup retire card if needed.

A pretty "Standard" Baromagnes deck. Baromagnes, as a rideline, focuses on trying to turbo soulcharges till it reaches 15 in the soul, allowing it at least an additional card draw, a boost in power, and able to use that soul as a toolbox to add more rear-guard pressure.

...It's the exact same deck from the first episode, nothing really needed to see here other then the synergy between cards.
thanks for this. although I never build them, I always end up wondering about each characters deck lists whenever I watch a card game anime. the analysis of each deck is very appreciated as well.

My one complaint about the entire "dress" saga of vanguard: it doesn't take advantage of the fact that it's fiction(at least up until season 2 of will+dress hopefully it changes in season 3)
One of the things I miss dearly is things like imagination/motion figure system allowing the fights to have much needed flare all throughout. I like the fact that they don't have all the fantasy elements of the previous shows(reverse fighters, psyqualia, etc.) but the fact that the fights don't have any visual representation until the very end(which is done well) kinda annoys me, since it fails to take advantage of the fact that this is fiction. It be like watching a yugioh anime without the holograms, it can still be fun but it's not gonna be as visually appealing as the ones WITH...

I do like how the deck building is more real world oriented instead of having one copybof every card the characters all have multiple copies of every card that was one major gripe i had about the yugioh anime

I like the new series but they don't make the animation for the card like the previous vanguard series. Honestly it doesn't have the feeling like the old vanguard. By the way it still good series.

@@alakazamlover4908 Oh I'm sorry, so basically during the V series (the Vanguard remake) there was a spinoff season called IF where the story went completely off the rails and became a magical girl type series. They still incorporated the creatures and other characters from the card game into fight scenes though, but at this point it wasn't a card game anime anymore. Also, at one point in IF they revealed certain characters can summon the creatures from the game into reality and also posses them so they can fight the enemies.

It's not the cards that say blackout on the back, they use sleeves in this anime

Love the sub but this dubbing I can’t stand I don’t think any of the English voices suited them at all but that’s just my opinion people may like the English voices better.
Wth is going in? At least in yugioh anime we see every action happening in thr battle of cards. Here, characters win in between scenes. Everything feels rushed.
