I am a licensed nail tech and have been doing nails and getting them done for over many years. Recently I’ve been having allergic reaction as well. It consists of itching and burning around the nail beds. I came to realized it’s the monomers that is causing it due to overexposures.

I love this set for spring. So bright and beautiful. I do feel like I need to say this though, I have had acrylic nails since I was 11. I'm 35 now. For years there were no problems then about a year ago I noticed irritation on my cuticles. I thought it was just dry so I put oil and ignored it but it kept happening. About six months ago my whole hand started swelling. So like a genius I started taking antihistamines before doing my nails and ignored it. The allergy kept getting more severe and I kept ignoring it. 2 months ago I took my antihistamine and got a fill. By the time I got done my hands were so swollen I could not bend my fingers my eyes were swelling shut and my throat was closing. I thankfully had an inhaler on hand because I have asthma, so I took that immediately and that bought me time for my husband to get me to the hospital. I almost died. That is the day I learned contact allergies and exposure allergies can progress and be very serious if ignored. I have no one to blame but myself. I own that completely. But if someone else can learn from my messed up experience then at least maybe I can help someone. Please be careful. Hard gel works just as well and I have found no difference in strength and durability.
I also started experiencing some type of allergic reaction.. I've only been doing acrylic nails on myself for about 4 years now and from January this year I noticed my cuticles started swelling and my fingers would itch, I gave my nails a bit of a break but I'm not too certain exactly which product is giving me the reaction, if it's the acrylic, Monomer or primers
@BeautybyAnisa it's likely the primer or the acrylic liquid. I am allergic to the liquid. I can still use my powder as dip powder.
I do my nails with builder gel!! I freaking LOVE IT!!!!! I wish I could wear long nails.. from the builder gel my real nails are getting SO long!
oh wow i have developed acrylate allergy and continued to use the acrylic over and and over again despite my fingers itching and everything else that comes with it but i refused to stop using acrylic. I continued the use and I guess my body got used to it and I no longer get any allergic reactions. But that may not work for everyone. You can also use dip powder since it does not contain methacrylates in addition to builder gel.

I have the arched Valentino Beauty pure collector and that one to me in my option works best. I bought the new generation 5 and its perfection. I was using the makartt dust collector and it had dust everywhere. I find that flat dust collectors do not have the best suction unless you turn it all the way up. I’m interested to see how the Kiara Sky one does

I will say normally by mid video her cuticles look irritated but so far they don’t look like it!!
Vee use a baby wipe . Put the baby wipe on top of your dust collector. . It helps a lot!!
That would work if the suction was good I don’t think that’s the problem that’s just for cleanup I think

Hi Vee! Spectacular set as always! Educational as well! Do you think Brittany would be comfortable letting you show us how her cuticles look when she has the reaction? Would be helpful to see what happens so we can recognize it in a client if it starts happening. Is it swelling? Blisters? I myself get blisters from acetone so can’t use it. While she was applying primer, you could observe how irritated and pink her cuticles were. It doesn’t look like she has any blisters, and I’m guessing that’s because she has been avoiding her cuticles for a couple months now🫶🏽
I'm allergic to HEMA and my fingers get itchy as all get out and I get little bumps that look like bubbles is the best I know to explain it.
@@c8creates yes! I get the same from acetone. I call them blisters but try Ty are bumps that itch like CRAZY and look clear then really red.

I have an allergy to possibly the monomer even the hema free so recently Iv been using liquid latex around my nail as close as possible but without getting on the nail and Iv not had any reaction since.
I had the same problem with a couple products I used when I first started and I stopped using cheap brands from Amazon
Do you think it would be the gell polish. I know I can't use certain gel polishes. I have to be so careful that it doesn't touch my skin. Just a thought. 😊

Wonderful love the colour combo - strangely enough after 100000000 years of getting my nails done I suddenly developed a acrylic allergy. Changed to gel or poly gel and it’s gone. I think it’s HEMA most of those products and all o my polishes are free of it. I’m finding a lot of people are suddenly having this problem
I developed my allergy to HEMA after getting Covid. I've seen several people say the same thing for them.
I’m allergic to hema too. It’s so annoying and very painful. I used gel polish for years and built up a decent collection, most of which I can no longer use 😢

could it be a problem with the cuticle bed as in filing because that can happen as well an irritate and break down the skin to the cuticle area.. especially if you fall too close to the cuticle or take away cuticle that shouldn’t be taken away like it does happen. I know know it’s truly not done on purposely do it happens occasionally that’s why truly practicing and knowing what you’re doing is key especially with a nail dril but it does to that happens with especially if the skin is very delicate and sensitive already. Also, like you said it could be from product and it also could be for some thing that she’s using at home that can be agitating that cuticle bed as well and could be something that she’s using at home that shes having really bad allergic reaction to Like soaps, lotions, etc. especially if you’re cleaning dishes stuff like that all the time could be some soap shampoo that she’s using as well so she should go get skin allergic test done and see what she’s allergic to dermatologist can do it also ENTs can do it. When I was at my dermatologist, I never got a skin test but at my ENTs office he offered a skin test to me and I took it. I’m allergic to pollen and dust that’s obvious even though he said it was a mild reaction. I disagree with him if there’s enough pollen and dust I get breathing problems but the one at what I was surprised about but not shocked about what is allergic to cockroaches like a very severe reaction. I don’t know they tested thee skin for cockroaches that kind of gross 🤢 but anyway that made sense to me because there’s a lot of stink-bugs which are basically the same thing that are in wooded areas this stink bug 🐜 I know I put an emoji at the end, but they look close to one just bigger with a shell, and nastier actually had bit me on my chest more then once which scarred my chest of where like my neck/chest area it looks a little patch there ware thee scarring is the reason the scarring didn’t go away. Well I have rare diseases and autoimmune diseases as well. So you never know what you truly have a reactions problems with so always get tested because it might not be what you assumed to be at first.
Dust can be a trigger for Allergies too :(
