The thing you pointed out that you called a "stop" on the tail gate certainly can be used as a stop, but it's also intended as a step. When you lower the 2nd hinge on the tail gate, that piece lowers to create a step up into the bed

I currently have a 2017 ram gas 2500 towing a 10k 34 ft camper. I’m looking to upgrade to a 2024 GMC Denali gas 3500 SRW with the 373 gears and 10 spd tranny. 17,800 tow capacity. The fifth wheel would be about 13,000 pounds dry.
I only tow about a dozen times a year or less. I live in New England.
I didn’t want to get a diesel because I was concerned about my driving habits as I only drive about 12 miles to get to work from home. I’ve read that the diesel wouldn’t get hot enough and would eventually go into limp mode because of the frequent short trips. my question is does anyone see any concerns with this potential set up and does anyone have experience towing with the Sierra 3500 gas srw?

What is the differences between the 2500 and 3500 same truck. Meaning gas 6.6
I can't find a difference. I'm assuming payload. But don't they both have 5 leaf springs?

Did you have an opportunity to get the payload on that configuration? I'm waiting to see one at my local dealership before ordering. The 2024 2500HD I saw was 3115lbs which is not enough for me.
Why wouldn’t you just get the 3500HD Long Bed SRW? This will give you the highest payload capacity for a SRW
Poor trailer braking position for as much as you have to use it , once you set your brakes you are ready to go so that is going to be in the way all the time , should have kept it on the dash I think
Well they do make the pro to the slt models that have that trailer brake where you want it
Getting better = Getting more expensive.

It amazes me how many Denalis are ordered with the flat black work truck fender trim. Makes it look tacky. All in all. Best looking HD truck.
The painted ones are too prone to paint chipping
What is the big difference besides obviously the payload and taxes and license between the 3500 and a 2500. I'm seeing way more 3500 at dealerships then 2500. I would imagine the ride is a lot rougher but the guy at the dealership said no they are the same
They ride the same. 3500 is the way to go.

Definitely Agree with that. 2015-2019 GM HD trucks were the best looking for sure. But these newer Sierra and Silverado HD's look pretty good too!

3500 is a 6.6 Gas Denali vs. the 2500 which is a 6.6 Duramax Denali Ultimate

And for only $105,000 you can own one too. Oh wait. Dealer adjusted market value is another $15,000 so it'll be $120,000.
Love the truck but there are a couple of interior misses for me. 1. Why no 12v outlet? I would need to add an aftermarket outlet as I still use them. 2. I don't care for the console. It seems with the unusually large start/stop button on the Denali's it forced the trailer brake controller to the console. I don't want to reach over to the passengers side to grab my drink. The lower trim levels and Chevy's have a more useful console.
Center console is a FAIL compared to the new Ford Super Duty. Trailer brake control should be on the lower dash just to the right of the steering wheel. I'm in a 2020 Denali 3500 SRW currently. I'm considering the 3500 Denali Ultimate SRW. Decision will be based on price. Ford Super Duty is too expensive.
It’s overall a nice truck, but I personally don’t like the grill. I also can’t fathom the fact that they are asking so much money for a gas truck.
