  • The determination/estimation of the size of indications detected by ultrasonic testing is a key challenge - in particular for indications smaller than the sound bundle. A method widely used in Europe is the so-called DGS (Distance-Gain-Size) or AVG (Amplitude Verstärkung Größe) method.

I'm from Canada but I'm doing my Ultrasonic 2 in German, you might have just saved my bacon, thank you.

Excellent lecture and you speak understandable english.🙂 I learned a lot from your presentation. The books we use here in the US are very similar to what you are instructing. I have struggled with the DAC, but you sir have opened my eyes. I did training in a tech center here in the US but the instructor, he really didn't present to my insight in to the DAC as you have..I am encouraged more so now by watching and listening, rewinding until I get the concepts clearly. Makes more sense now after watching your presentation.
Much thanks sir for your hard work and experience. Bravo.

Good Presentation, I did MUT 2 decade before as per Russian Spec DGS.

thank you for explanation, I was reading the text of how to use the DGS diagrams but I didn't understand now because of this video I know how it's works

Hi , is it possible get some point about the angle probe near field and beam divergent

Great video, but how can I measure the material specific attenuation due to damping (ACV) for transversal probes? For example, when we use a V1/K1 block radius for calibrating a 45°, the attenuation due to beam spread I can check in the diagram, but how do I measure the ACV in a given material? Can I just connect two angle beams and use through transmission and calculate damping based on the soundpath between single and double skip?

Thanks a lot for this precious course, We are waiting for the lower limit and how to distinguich small indication amplitude from a noise?
