Haha yeah my first playthrough I was too scared to leave the shallowest shallows just from seeing creepvines, now one of my first missions is to sea glide to the Aurora and scan a Reaper before I explore the wreck.
Always lol my first clear I was far too scared to go close to them, now I make it my mission to clear the annoyingly located ones basically every play through. Same with the juvenile ghosts I just can’t rest till I know my cyclops is safe 🤣🤣
@@xdifficultviper9916 Hell yeah. The Cyclops is sacred, I take her on carefully planned expeditions.
@@xdifficultviper9916 make sure there is nothing left to scan
Yeah I had to use the wiki to actually progress my first playthrough because I was afraid and not curious enough to explore.
@@e2b265 I wish I could recapture that first play through feeling. Yeah it was frightening for me having a fear of open water, but it made the achievements and discoveries all the sweeter.
1st playthrough: “It’s the day of the crash. I don’t know what the heck is happening, I’m scared and I’m not going outside!” - Ozzy from the Aurora crew cafeteria
10th playthrough: “When sea monsters are hunting you, you don’t hide. You hunt the sea monsters! Then, you build a base out of sea monster bones and you hunt bigger monsters! Keep going, until there aren’t anymore monsters left to hunt you!” - Marguerit Maida, mercenary employed by Degasi crew.
Truth.
I am not in danger Skyler, I am the danger
I felt so bad for Ozzy when I read this log. Of course the poor man was terrified.
@@briannakaldor-mair9958, yeah, me too. Every time I go aboard the Aurora, I make sure to put the fire out in the cafe where he probably worked. It’s not really necessary, but it’s the only thing I can really do for him. Put the fires out, spend a brief moment of silence, and then back to work.
You either die an Ozzy or live long enough to be a Marguerite
God I wish I could experience my first playthrough again. The fear, terror, the stunning visuals, i would do anything to experience subnautica like that again.
I’m going through my first right now. It’s so scary I can hardly brave it even with a cyclops 😭 but I’m trying to cherish it because the game has a beautiful way of making you want to explore
I've said the same thing so many times. I'll never experience another game like I experienced my 1st playthrough of Subnautica
@@Bread_Bug Wish you continued with it, this game is really a unique experience you have to live.
I was the fool that watched every play through of the game years before I actually played it
@@DrFouFou should be a crime
My first playthrough I was too scared to get near stalkers at all.
By the 10th it's like
"Alright quick in and out of the lava zone for materials. The ghost leviathan is attacking me what a jerk and now we descend"
At some point, the Lost River Ghost Leviathan becomes just another platform to use the Prawn grapple hook on lol
@@iiiikkarakudoge4969 he's just a grumpy lil guy
@@iiiikkarakudoge4969grapple to him, slap his ass with the drill, ride it out for some good distance.
for me im on my first, unlocked stuff like perimeter defense system and statis rifle and prawn suit, im not scared the slightest by a reaper leviathan.
in my first playthrough i went a little too far in one direction and in the total darkness a ghost leviathan suddenly popped up right in front of me and I nearly shat myself a little
I still nope out whenever I see one lurking on my second playthrough
just beautiful. Even the fishes at the end surrounding him.
*fish
*fish
*fesh

@@CassidyUnderscore well as a fish chemist i say it aint
I seriously didnt think this game was gonna have so much replayability. I always get that urge to play through it again just because I love water based games so much and there really arent alot that tick the right boxes. I do wish that subnautica had a much more survival based mode though, where you actually progress through tech and get new ways to gather resources more effecient. The game seems more like a linear story with survival elements sprinkled in.
The game is literally as you described it
@@OneBiteoftheCherry shhhh he played on creative mode
@@OneBiteoftheCherry I think he meant in a more Factorio way
I think he meant more like Minecraft. You get wood tools & armor, then with the wood tools you get stone tools & armor, then with the stone tools you get iron tools & armor, then with the iron tools you get diamond tools & armor, and finally with diamond armor you get netherite tools & armor.
This could be a really cool gameplay loop for the third game to have, but I think the first one is perfect how it is
Honestly I just wish that there was more of it. Below zero didn't quite scratch the same way, mostly cause with all the voice lines I never felt quite as alone and like the actually clueless survivor that I would be irl. Still a great expansion
The worst thing about this game is the false sense of security it seems to give you. You get used to the shallows quickly and know where to go and what to avoid. It seems dangerous, but easy to stay alive. The game is also super pretty, which adds to this effect. The deeper you go as you get sucked into the story, the more this games horrible side shows, and next thing you know, you're in the Lost River dancing around Ghost Leviathans, thinking "how could this get worse?" and then you find the active lava zone.
By that point, we are essentially in hell
This was literally me 3 hours ago
>get BIG mech suit
>decide to visit lava zone now that I physically can
>get past damn near everything in the lost river just fine
>encounter a warper not even a minute into the lava zone
*it teleports me out of the mech, immediately killing me and leaving my mech ~1km below sea in a lava cave within a winding nightmare infested brine cave*
The scariest moment in Subnautica for me was going to the floating island. I thought underneath it went super deep There would be leviathans below. 😆
well, that is the case.
reapers around the mountain, ghostie and crabsquids around the floater.
@Alligator Scrublord during my game play i never encountered a leviathan below the floating island. 🙂
@@Sven989 There is one, although not directly. The Ghostie has a pretty big area which it patrols
@@gamersreactions9267 oh yeah, I forgot about the ghost leviathan.😄
there is a ghost leviathan under the floating island, but its pretty far down
This has no business being this well made
As a person with thalassophobia, I can't play more than like 30 minutes at a time of subnatica, I tried to go near the creepvine area and left the game almost immediately, people who play this game enough like this are on something I swear to you.
We're just normal hun.
i also have thalassophobia and i absolutely hate the creepvines and a lot of other pretty 'normal' things in this game but i also absolutely adore it and think it's gorgeous lol, it's terrifying but beautiful
I don’t get that so I’m diving as deep as I can… I sometimes don’t have time to get back to the surface and die… but that’s ok, because it’s a game 😂
my first playthrough it took 2 hours to go to the creepvines ngl
i was on xanax
What i loved about subnautica's progression is that the 1st playthrough was my first couple hours and the 10th was me by the end of my first playthrough
Once you learn to strafe it's over for them bitches.
And once you get the stasis rifle... (I'm personally almost glad I got it post doing everything plot based lol)
@@TheBerylflythe worst thing I did was get a stasis rifle, dragged out my first playthrough by like 20 or 30 extra hours because I tried to kill all the reapers
1st playthrough: I'm scared of all the dangers out there
10th playthrough: I AM THE DANGER!
I'll never forget that first playthrough and how you get successively more terrified as you push further and further in the depths, starting with being scared to leave the shallows and being scared of stalkers... such great damn game design, and it's why Subnautica is on my top 5
i was never scared of stalkers though i thought they were cute
That's some amazing editing. With the Jesse bit, I really thought "Wow, was a coincedence that one scene happened to match the lighting of the meme".
Wasn’t expecting lockdown LMAO
He's my fav transformer, outside of Blitzwing and Rung. Always happy to see him.
goated editing wtf, the lighting on jesse and the fish around the transformer surprised me, prob took some time looks great bro
I've played some horrorgames up until now, of which a lot where said to be very scary, but after 40 hours in Subnautica I'm not even through with half of the story because it's literally unlimited times scarier than any horror game I've ever played (I never knew water could be so terrifying what is actually going on)
funniest thing probably is that it wasn't originally supposed to be as scary as it is but in early builds (that did not have any leviathans and stuff) people were scared af just off deep water.
So what do you do when people are afraid of your game? You exploit it of course.
The deeper you go, the worse it gets. Don't let the game get spoiled for you though if you have managed to avoid spoilers until now. It is more than worth it, I promise.
@@shimo_96 I'd argue that after a certain depth (just below what sunlight can reach) it won't become much scarier because it doesn't get any darker and the Reaper is by far the scariest of all leviathans
@@user-bt8xr5si9y Fair enough. though both the juvenile Ghost leviathan and the Sea Dragon are terrifying when you first encounter them. So from a first time point of view, it would be gut wrenching, but after you know what to expect, it's just annoying then. This is my opinion, and I am not trying to invalidate your opinion.
@@shimo_96 Nah it's alright. I agree that the first time I saw them (including the first time I saw an Adult Gostie in the Grand Reef) they were pretty terrifying just because of their sheer size but neither the Ghost Leviathan nor the Sea Dragon managed to stay scary right up until the end of the game.
After I knew where they were and what they were I had no problem going through their regions with them in it but I never really stepped foot inside a Reaper's region unless there was no other choice lol
pretty badass editing dude good job
Extremely accurate indeed.
I remember my gf at the time when we were playing it the most, she built a whole god damned base in the middle of a reaper hot spot just to provoke them, and to see how far she could push it. She actually managed to be able to fall asleep and wake up right next to those mofo’s like it was just another peeper floating around
The creepvine is where I made my first base before moving to the Sparse Reef. It's just so homey and calming, I don't know what it is but I love it. I regularly came back to my Creep Vine base just to relax and take in the atmosphere. I ironically just had a stressful session of Barotrauma with friends and this video relieved pretty much all of it.
I was scared of the gasopods thinking they were dangerous cause i remember watching people being scared of the kelp zone years ago and this caused me to think it was a predator...
well it was dangerous to me, today that thing came to my base and kept on shitting all over it for at least 15 minutes🤒
I mean their poisson can instakill
1st day: hey, there's a message about a lifepod survivor, let's find them!
5th day: so there's a ship coming for me called sunbeam, that's it? that's the end? we're finally leaving?
10th day: a reaper yelled at me, so yk i have to kill it.
2817382th day: *depressed in lost river*
Subnautica really is one of those games that you wish you could erase your memory of to play over for the first time.
When I discovered that you could walk on land I was like, "Woah! An island!" Then a few minutes later the game just blew the doors off of what I thought I was playing.
Not for me, I hated to be afraid of everything, now I can really enjoy the game 😅
@@Cinodonte_ OK, I can totally relate to that.
The exploration and discovery of the different areas and the stroy is really what I wish I could forget.
I never want to relive the fear of running away from a Leviathan again.
My first playthrough: ‘I feel small, I feel powerless, I don’t know what’s out there, but I hear roars at night, and I don’t like it. I’ll stay in my lifepod, thank you!’
My most recent playthrough: ‘Aight, speedrunning this. These components are in these locations, oxygen efficiency drops at 100m, so I can last this long on a single dive, and the leviathans… COME GET SOMEEEEEEEEE!’
I'm on my 2nd playthrough and I'm more terrified than during my first time because now I know the horrors that await 🙃
Prawn suit looking mech at the end got me like
Bro.... your edits are insane 😂😂😂
On my first playthrough of the game I got killed by a reaper leviathan while in the grassy plateaus. So for the longest time I was always extremely paranoid whenever I was in or near them.
I now know that I probably just got too close to the crash zone while exploring and unknowingly caught the attention of one of the reaper leviathans, causing it to stray out of where it would usually be
Unbelievably accurate, lmfao
Joke aside, I would give a lot to re-live my first gameplay. You just don't get the feelings ever again
I wish I could experience the first time I played this game. Nothing beats the fear, horror and enjoyment of the first time you play this amazing game.
I can confirm the stalker scared the shir outta me in my current (first) playthrough
This...is...art! Its like walking thru the door into my soul!
nice edit broo
It took me close to an hour to convince myself to descend from the Grass Plateaus into the Northwestern Mushroom Forest the first time. Just the depth, lack of vision, ambience...and the few Bonesharks that were intruding
1st Playthrough: What is that sound? What is that monstrous screaming sound? I gotta find a way to get in Aurora fast.
10th Playthrough: Early game: Use Stasis Rifle to freeze the Leviathan in place then proceed to torture the Leviathan to death by shanking, using a tiny knife with a hot blade that can boil the water surrounding it.
Late game: Use the Mech to grappled onto the Leviathan's face and proceed to penetrate its skull with the Mech's hard Titanium fist until its corpse remain lifeless at the bottom of the Radiated Ocean.
The hunter became the hunted
In my first playthrough, I was affraid by the creatures. Now, I have my base next to a Stalker. His name's John.
my second playthrough: playing with 3 ghost leviathans out of the map.
I was playing with them with only seaglide with me, so we swam for 5 min and didn't die. They're too slow...
when you kill the first one, you can't stop - my experience
this is why spiderman never killed anyone
For someone who has a fear of the deep ocean, I still want to play this
There is no feeling like playing subnautica for the first time, I'd like to feel that again
what an amazing atmosphere this game has
I remember I went into a big cave in subnautica and tried to mine a rock, but not any rock... it was a exploding fish hatch. When 5 of them started charging at me I instantly was like "Yep.... I am so screwed right now" and I didn't even run away
hahaha love the Lockdown scene inclusion perfect! Never thought about the stasis rifle like that but thats good imagery
1st Playthrough: ‘Holy shit I’m so vulnerable on this planet’
10th playthrough: ‘Holy shit this planet is so vulnerable with me on it’
this deserves an editing award
Oh wow I love your vfx skills
I went from being too scared of sandsharks to doing a lap around the Aurora just because
Lmao at the start of the vid I was like wtf am I watching but then at end I shit myself in laughter the edit was so good lol.
I stopped at my first playthrough. I played the game without knowing anything about it, i just saw it was free on ps+ and decided to try it, for all I knew it was an underwater Minecraft. I spent more than a month playing it, I still remember the moment I realized how big the game was and how a plot was slowly unfolding. It gave me a feeling I'll never get again by replaying it. Not even below zero felt the same, as I already knew what the game was
Why is the transformer's edit so high quality lmao. Great video!
The game does a good job of making you scared of it, even when in reality you're in little to no danger. It's why I don't replay it. I know how to be safe now. That said, I definitely LOVE watching other people play it for the first time.
Exactly! It’s so scary when you first see a sand shark but later you just casually swim through them 😂
That's some nice editing
The editing is really good. I'm still scared of reapers
I kind of realized through my 28h of my first plaxthrough, that killing leviathans is easier than I thought with the prawn suit, so I killed every ghost in the lost river
clicked 2 say u snapped on the thumbnail
Clean edits/transitions, funny point that is so* true 🤣🤣
I was scared of reefbacks and stalkers at 1st playthrough LOL 😂😂😂😂😂
im still experiencing my first playthrough 😎
The stalkers and the kelp fields, for whatever reason freaked me out when I started playing. I love the kelp fields now though.
Damn this editing is a lot better then it has to be gj
As a person that has played Subnautica many times, I can confirm that this video is true. But you forgot the part where you hunt reapers for fun
actual top notch editing
I wish I could play subnautica again for the first time. Knowing everything I know now kind of removes some of the wonder and terror.
Its what I hoped to get out of Sub-Zero.... but that was a train wreck.
The leviathans scared me so I turned them all into corpses and now I'm not scared :)
This editing is great
Everything changes once you build the prawn suit and go from being the prey to being the hunter
dude that lockdown part was crazy was that greenscreened
Yeah I remember thinking stalkers were scary and now i follow them around so I can take their teeth. They just wanna play.
No game made me sweat and tremble more than my first playthrough of Subnautica.
I remember my first playthrough staying inside my pod at night because I was too scared of the dark 😭
pretty accurate.
Also in the 10th playthrough, you rodeo the leviathan with a prawn suit and grapple arm, while killing them with a drill arm.
First play through is when we all thought the reef back would kill us if we got close to it
Back to the pod at night time, fuck all that shit.
Gotta love how in the beginining you fear those reapers like death itself,
Then you learn what lurks further down...
Then the reapers aint that scary anymore
I wish I didn't read this as now I am too scared to go down further than 300M and I can't complete the story. :'(
@@SuperYtc1 got a cyclops? If no, get one, then you will be *relatively* fine.
I'm playing this game for the first time and I'm somewhere in the middle. I am just going out there exploring like crazy especially at night because it's so beautiful. But I have nearly crapped my pants a few times now from accidently running into an aggressive leviathan like the ghost at the dead zone. I did try to kill the reaper behind the Aurora because it killed me and videos were showing it has a horrible turn radius. That is a lie. It flipped around in one second and nearly ate me. I will come back when I have the prawn suit.
Personally I don't butter knife them for 10 minutes, I just gas them out 10 seconds and we're clear.
by the end of my game i was knifing a leviathan to death for fun
1st Subnautica playthrough you are hyper aware of everything. 10th playthrough you're moving through the planet like you're running errands
Im playing for the first time, barely surviving, any tips?
The first play through is the best one imo. No knowledge so u don’t know what to expect, making the game terrifying. I took a long break from the game and am replaying it now, I forgot a majority of the stuff and I get to basically experience the first play through again.
The first warper encounter is really scary, I remember being teleported an didn't even notice I was out of my seamoth (almost instant death)
Oh my goodness why is nobody talking about how absolutely godly the keying is in this video
I’m currently on my 1st play through and ever since I got a stasis riffle nothing can sway me from being a menace to reapers anymore
If I have the rifle and see a reaper it’s on sight
I still remember one of my later playthroughs, where I herded a reaper to my base and killed it there.
Its body served as a warning for others not to f*ck with me
I miss being so so afraid of going anywhere in the map
The bleeder is scarier than reaper leviathan
Change my mind
If the bleeder grabs you... you whack it off with your knife. The Reaper Leviathan grabs you... it's the end.
Bleeders in my opinion are scarier than reapers you hear when reaper is coming but that piece of shit just teleports in your hand it's scary even without a jumpscare like it jumping in your face first.
@@jessel9485 There's that. It's the crabsquid and the warpers that I didn't like.
fr on my first playthrough i was like: "oh shit what is that noise"
"eek ocean too scawy"
meanwhile my 69th playthrough :
"man fuck the ocean, that isnt even scary at all"
You blasting on the horn gave me a good laugh lmao. Nothing says laughing in the face of death like purposely making enough noise to wake the dead while in an ocean full of predators
i just started my first play through and i’m absolutely terrified, the only hostile creatures i’m confident being around is stalkers and sandsharks but i legit having trouble remembering to breathe in other areas
holy shit the transformers edit was solid god tier lmao
To mask that prolly took a hot minute. Damn.
haha yeh currently in my first play thru, took forever to get the courage to go the aurora and every time i hear even a distant leviathan i nope out of that situation so fast like the fear is so real
Second playthrough for me, turns out all I needed was an organized base and a 20 minute-in Seamoth
this scene 0:28
mod special robot
"monstrosity bot"
biggest - can drive
can control - good against gargantuan
I have to be honest I’m still terrified of Reapers but everything else is a piece of cake.
I was inverse, on my first play i did not know the horror of ocean and swing on superfice direct to big ship... something eat me... i thoutg that was a bigger crab because that was very fast and i don't saw much, but late i found what eat me, and so the horror beguns, i never have the courage to go to big ship again.
Friend was playing this in vr and i brushed his shoulder as he entered the kelp forest, that was funny
Ya mean you only attacked a reaper on your 10th playthrough? Nah man, I killed one on my second
I did NOT expect a Lockdown meme XD
yea i will go literally anywhere now except the back of the aurora the amount of mental scaring is crazy bro
Idk why but the horn spamming killed me lol
