☛ Meteora - Hanging Monasteries 08.2017 Full HD

Excursion to the UNESCO World Heritage Site. Meteora (gr. Μετέωρα Meteora) is a massif of sandstone and conglomerate rocks in central Greece on the north-western tip of the Thessalian plateau in the vicinity of Kalampaka. Rocks reach a height of up to 540 m.
At the top of the rock is located a team of Orthodox monasteries (monastyrs). Initially all the materials needed to build and live the monks were drawn on the ropes, also the visitors could get to the monastry only in this way. At present, a part of the monastry is accessible to the visitors and for their convenience stairs and platforms are built
