Both versions, cover and original say egg chow mein. The movie this came from actually has pollution sludge take form of egg chow mein noodle when the character sings that specific part of the song. Imagine those health-food charcoal noodles or culinary-art squid ink noodles (which are both a thing), but unhealthy pollution instead of healthy edibles.
You make pollution sound like an actual force of evil summoned from the depths of hell.

oh man, Hexxus/tim Curry did NOT have to go that hard in FernGully but he DID. I love how you sang this! Tim's version goes super sensual and tempting (because that's how he markets pollution) but i love that you're a little more unhinged... if that's not a weird and offensive description. Love your work Johnathan!
Tim's version is pollution before it gets bad, how the big companies show it off as. Jon's version is when pollution gets out of hand and is revealed for what it really is.

Dude. Ferngully was my favorite movie as a kid, this was my favorite song (The Batty Rap was a close second 😋😆) & it was also my introduction to Tim Curry. He's got a bit a of a Tim sound in some places which is hard to do. Good job for real.

I like that, for your cover of this song, you threw the "sexual" and suggestive aspects out the window and made this befittingly dark, violent, and angry for the spirit of destruction it was written for in the first place.
I like that you kept the momentary taunting undertones for some of the lines - while, again, having eradicated suggestive filler.

i just listen to this and have a stage production in my head. like the song starts and then the actor comes out in very complex outfit. when he sings the part about greedy humans he points at the audience. then runs up a ladder to the prop machine when when he sings " and look at this beautiful machine they provided.'
he is then replaced by a puppet for the rest of the show. when the song ends to show the huge smog hexxus comping out of the leveler.

I do enjoy this but I think Curry’s was better. Yours is more sinister and threatening but Curry was able to make it sound almost charming. Still, second place to Curry is nothing to sneeze at.
