- On a tour “In the footsteps of Paul the Apostle”, we went by cruise ship from Athens, Greece to Ephesus in Turkey. From Ephesus we traveled by bus to the Turkish countryside to see a demonstration of how Turkish carpets were handmade at Anaudala in Izmir, Turkey. We were shown how the silk weavers begin by making silk thread from the silkworm cocoons and were shown how the carpets were woven. Our guide told us that “traditionally and historically, we Turks are known as fine quality carpet makers.”
I enjoyed this video so very much. It reminded me of my visit to Turkey 30 years ago It was the best place I’ve ever been or seen. The people, the food, the culture, the land, the history, and all of the sights I treasure. Wish I could revisit again
What a great presentation! Congratulations to the teller by explaining every single detail. And yes, carpet making is such a big tradition for Turkey.
Incredible workmanship, most people really don't understand what it takes to make one carpet.
😊
What a nice tour guide! I hope he is well today, a week after the great earthquake. Edit: that goes for all the people ofcourse.
So beautiful, and very well explained. Thankyou
Suddenly I'm awestruck when I see Turkish carpets! 5 hours of work -- at least?! No wonder they aren't cheap.
That is incredible. Go Turkey. Great job. I have always know about Turkish carpets my mom had two of them. Dining room & living room. Huge. Beautiful. But this how it's done video in english is wonderful. Thank you so much. I'm sorry the silk worms have to die. Higher rebirth I hope for them.
That was Beautiful 😍😍😍
I was there too. At OK Kuyumculuk - a shore excursion from WindSurf

When he mentioned carpets and the bus ride crew went "aaaaah" I expected them to continue with "so desu kaaaaa."
Amazing....I love the blue one with a center medallion at 18:57. It is breathtakingly lovely! Wonder if it's available for purchasing?
You can email Anaudala carpets in Izmir, Turkey at info@anaudala.com and refer to this video to indicate the carpet that you like. Sometimes they have a number of their carpets that they bring to the United States to people that have purchased a carpet and also have additional ones with them for sale.
@@rgathome Actually, I found this pattern carpet at many places including on Amazon by Googling its description. They are very costly but surely if bought locally where they're made, the price will be much lower. I'm adding it to things I want to when in Turkey! LOL....Thanks for your input. 🙏🙂
I was just there and they had it in different sizes

Dear Brancaalice, I spoke with the representative from Anaudala carpets of Izmir, Turkey who wanted to see your comment for possible contact information. He did say that bringing a small carpet with you might be possible. I have a card from there and their email is info@anaudala.com if you want to ask your question.

Exactly.
Turkey has to compare its rug with China, India and Pakistan.
Iranian rug is not only the quality but the design👍
@@parsai.5376 What arrogance.
Don't conflate cheap mass produced rugs with more artisanal ones.
I'm sure Iran has the same goings.
We are brothers .wellcome to turkey
so sad that only women can perform this task. I feel bad for men so illequipt.
