Let's just say that the surgeon who changed his voice accidentally messed up Rhys' brain a bit during the operation. Then after a couple of years, his brain swelling finally goes down and he gets better by the time of Borderlands 4.

NGL I feel like the Atlas SMG that Sasha has would be worth as much or close enough since all old Atlas guns were useless due to Brickware program but her gun. A still usable vintage Atlas weapon like that would be worth a ton I assume. On top of whatever loot they were able to pick up and split from The Travelers destroyed remains.

I don't see why they found it hard to justify Gaige being the wedding planner. Pretty sure Gaige and Hammerlock are friends, he could have told her before proposing and she got overly excited and started planning it, with Hammerlock enjoying her ideas.
the easiest and least shit way to deal with a character is sadly the hardest one for borderlands writers to actually write it

For real. Glad I played tales before BL3. Vaughn was funny in 3 but they cut out a lot of his characterization. But I do like the story line of weird nerd that turns to feral bandit. Then it's a shame with Rhys all around.

He found the rights in jack’s office but he fully made it official in his wish.
Honestly, I feel they should've had a book set after New Tales explaining where Sasha went, why she prevented anyone from following her trail. I feel setting this book just after the first Tales, but before Borderlands 3 wasn't the right move. It would've been better to actually focus on the original Tales gang coming back together, to find where Sasha went. Maybe even Fiona lost track of where Sasha went when they both became full on Vault Hunters and she and Rhys team up once more to find clues to her whereabouts. Really hope they give that plot point some sort of continuation one day.
Remember when Gearbox had zero understanding of how to write Rhys and Vaughn in BL3 and (I assume, I haven’t played it and I won’t) New Tales?
The first Tales was themed around how abusive corporations are and how escaping it at all costs is worth it but Gearbox, who is unsurprisingly run by a highly toxic person, has gone out of their way to punish the Tales crew for daring to do so
I found this video after seeing the Borderlands 4 teaser earlier today and wanted to refresh myself on the lore of Borderlands. I was NOT expecting to see new (VERY new at that) lore written by the Writer of Borderlands 2 and Tales and that makes me very excited for the future of the franchise. I really hope they locked in for this one.
The Borderlands story is a mess right now. How can they introduce the Crystal Cosmic God that is stronger than the Destroyer and not have Tyreen go after it. She was hunting down vaults to absorb monsters and I doubt that no information was available about the Devourer's vault during the time she was active. The gameplay is good but the story is slowly becoming comic book levels of convoluted.
Pretty sure they were just experimenting with that game . what they could or not gateway with without making a full borderlands sequel . turns out nothing ! I do want this game to to be retconned . so none of the outrageously stupid ideas out man

New Tales from the Borderlands was such a stupid idea. While yes, they made a horrible decision to kill off Maya in such a disrespectful manner and just completely dismissed her afterwards but, NTftB is still an atrociously stupid and unoriginal idea. It literally makes everyone's deaths meaningless
I think it was them experimenting with the story . to see if they could gateaway with it or not
I think one thing to note is that Rhys and Fiona from start to finish of Tales had a very clear goal: power and money.
It’s nice to think that the events of Tales would “change” them fundamentally, but that’s not really how it works in real life. Sure some people grow and change. But most people are who they are. I see Rhys as being the natural progression of himself from Tales. Also Holo-Jack probably broke his brain a bit.
Watch Eruptions videos again, specially the one about new tales, he shows PROOF of Rhys` change, so no its not the natural progression AT ALL

I just find it odd since the person they got now (Ray Chase) sounds almost exactly like him to the point where I think if you didn’t know it was a different guy you wouldn’t notice at first
@@adhumbla1153 I don't have the source for this so I could be misremembering, but iirc Troy said that Gearbox hadn't even contacted him to see if he wanted to reprise his role for BL3. So it's no surprise he wasn't in New Tales either.

this would actually made her very weak and not a proper vault hunter. If all her future achievements would be based on magical wish powers, whats the point than. Its like those losers who do AI commissions, whats the point if art wasnt made through will, dedication, intelligence and strength? Cheaters arent worth to tell storys about.

@@thebeyblader217 Still cheating, she doesnt need superpowers, thats the whole theme to the Tales story and characters. They arent superpowered heroes, they have to talk themselves out of dangerous situations and combat is only the last resort.
Its so much more satisfying and entertaining when she is winning because of her ingenuity and intelligence and not because she is an overpowered magical mary sue.

Sadly that book solidifies New Tales and its dumb green crystal, Gearbox just wants their cake and eat it too. They clearly want Jack back and even planned to do so in BL3 and want cheap and easy good will from the fans IE reviving Maya as that really was so bad that plot point alone was a huge negative for word of mouth on the game. Everything else is just icing on the cake for this supposed war plot, to them they probably truly believe this green crystal is not only necessary but completely justified for it without admitting they made mistakes, and the fans were right.
At least Gaige killed her fathers killer the only thing in this book that gives me peace.

When i heard the whole thing about the billionaires dog pilling the person who killed one of them i thought it would lead to gaige just killing all the billionaires at once in a scene akin to the opening of punisher warzone
I read the book completely different. Fiona's entire purpose wasnt about money in this book, it was about protecting Sasha. The money would allow them to live the stable life they so desired. She never wanted to be a vault hunter, she never wanted to be rich, she just wanted to be normal. Fiona frequently criticises Sasha for her money spending problems throughout the book. Its Sasha whos obsessed, if anything. She's the one who bought the mansion, she's the one who conjured the idea of selling the Vault Lander figure. Fiona is trying to move on with her life, while Sasha slowly starts to miss the chaos and begins to seek it out, which is why i think they added Gaige to be a sort of lesson for Sasha, to not take everything for granted.
The book was good, IMO. I think its easy to criticize Borderlands because of it's reputation, but i also think we should try finding the good where we can. I recommend reading it, its fun, and answers lots of questions.
It goes against almost everything they did in Tales from the Borderlands. You are trying to find the good in it which is fine, but If you have to overlook all the bad Things and retcons to enjoy a Borderlands Story then I dont know what to tell you
@@FloundFahrdienst I also think Anthony Burch was quite limited in what he had to write, so despite the limitations I still think it was good for what it was. It was very millennial humour imo, but humour is subjective so I wouldn't really say that's a flaw, just a personal gripe I have. The whole vaultlanders thing feels so painfully forced into the series, and it could've definitely gone without the Vaultlanders storyline. I also feel like Borderlands has lost the plot, completely forgetting what it was about--- the Vaults. So far, everything we have seen about the Vaults have been underwhelming, and this book was 100% guilty of this, and it definitely feels like a punch in the face for fans who have been waiting so long to find out what happened to their favourite characters. So that's the criticism I have. But the general flow of the story was nice.
I think my main issue with his "review" was that it seemed to overlook a lot of the key points, and didn't really care to look deeper into what was happening. It seems like he went into this book expecting to hate it. I was just trying to balance out this video by adding my personal opinion, to let people know it wasn't all that bad.

There hasn't been a single enjoyable game since Tales from the Borderlands 10 years ago. TPS was barely a Borderlands games, and BL2 VR was barely a game.
We need a W or BL2 will be the last good Borderlands game and the only real Borderlands game to play, which came out 12 whole ass years ago.
i know gaige not as powerful compared to other vault hunters but damn she getting captured multiple times its just not feels right to me

Dude even without Deathtrap it's really easy to spec her into anarchy nightmare war machine, I don't know how she scales in-lore but it feels like alot of disservice us done to her personal capabilities, she's got a cybernetic arm that can crush concrete remember? She could probably pry open Helios with enough time
It feels like the author wrote the book without going over the tails game and makes ot feel like they went backwards in their growth instead of improving themselves and almost feels redconed in a way
Personally I think Sasha is either dead or very badly injured instead of being missing. When Rhys talks about if he's ever been in love in Borderlands 3 he just responds with "I'm kinda sad now". I don't believe there's ever actually a name mentioned during the echo log where he's looking for someone and during New Tales he specifically mentions that he could ask Fiona for a new picture of Sasha, *if he can find Fiona*.
Aside from this, Rhys not only mentions that he knows what the anahadium shard is, but that he also had a very big personal investment in finding it. And Fiona is seen alone at the end of new tales talking to Markus and actively looking for the shard that can bring people back to life.
Again I could be, and probably am, very wrong and theres probably something i missed that disproves it but that's just my theory based on what I've seen in the games.
I dont think she's dead, and that's why Rhys feels sad about being in love, i think it's supposed to be him, maybe feeling like his relationship with Sasha is one of unrequited love. At the end of the new book, weirdly enough, it's Fiona who tells Rhys that Sasha is in love with him-- which is very weird. Earlier in the book, Sasha does talk to him about their relationship, but she tells him she's not ready or something like that. Rhys is absolutely in love with her but she is just missing, out there doing her thing, and that's why he's sad. It's awful that Zer0 tells him that's there's no way to find someone who doesn't wants to be found. In other words he probably feels like he got ghosted at an interplanetary level.

It's more like a delusional dream of a person with a temperature of 39 + Celsius.
Honestly my faith on the Gearbox writing team faltered after BL3, especially when the DLCs had such better stories. But after what they did to Rhys & the plot in New Tales? That faith died. Now the movie is coming out & that looks like it was cobbled together by people who barley have an idea what the franchise is.
This book is just another disappointment.

It's total fanfiction but think about it....

It’s better to just leave tales’ story right where it ended, it’s better to have the idea that we would never know what happened to Rhys, Fiona or the rest of the cast, because if this is the story that continues it, than I don’t want it.

lol you sure you read the right book? because it isnt in there. She just insults him and rolls her eyes hard, and later pushes Sasha to be honest with Rhys to give him a clear statement. The only thing that the book confirmt is that Fiona is bisexual. They have artworks of anime boys all around their mansion, but she also flirts with a billionaire Lady and spends an odly amount of time thinking how gorgeous Holloway is.

It's why Fiona doesn't approve of Sasha being with Rhys, because Fiona feels like Sasha is taking too long and playing with his feelings. Fiona doesn't want Rhys to get hurt having to wait for Sasha to make a choice. It hurts Fiona even more knowing that she could have a chance with him, but doesn't do anything because Sasha is supposedly in love with him. I recommend rereading chapter 34.

In the conversation you mention she just says that as goofy and uncool he is, hes still a friend that helps them alot and deservse a clear answer from Sasha. Its not kind to let people hang on the hooks, especially if they are friends.

Fiona never ever gives even a hint to have romantic feelings about Rhys. You have to completely lack social skills to not see that after she spends a whole game and book getting annoyed by him and constantly rolling her eyes whenever he says something.
To think she does that because shes romantically interested is laughable.... she is not and even outside of book and games the devs said from the get go that it would be weird to ship two playable characters into a love story, it would be like pressing dolls at each other and say now kiss.
Handsome Jack also gives a comment about how weird that would be in the game.
How can people still see some non existended chemistry between them just baffles me. You cant make it any more obvious without spelling it out. Fiona likes Rhys as much as she likes Vaughn, Gortys, Loaderbot and/ or Athena. He is a friend nothing more, a goofy, uncool friend not good enough for her sister. Sasha deserves better is what she was saying since the beginning.

When you know the executive behind the publisher. It makes perfect sense on why these characters got assassinated with shitty writing. Big boss has "big ideas" and think he can write a really good "borderlands game" and... you see echoes of his psychotic ideology splattered across the theming. When before... it was literally the main antagonist of every game.

In my opinion on Reese's wish I think he was wishing for more absolute confrontations yes he had the deed he was still technically a nobody a lot of other companies could have just constantly absorbed him without them even trying I think what he wished for when you wish for Atlas was more so to make sure to get a bit of a buffer so you can have enough time to actually get on his feet I have a proper stand when it was time to deal with those bottles not straight up wish for I want Atlas since he's still technically owned Atlas with the deed
I loved borderlands debt or alive. It had a lot of things I actually hoped for.

With the massive decline in the quality of the stories lately, I'm not sure I even want anything else from the Borderlands franchise at this point. If all they're gonna give us is this crap, just stop making stuff. I'd rather see it end than continue to be a shell of its former self.
My head cannon is the traveler’s vault had 2 keys. Keys that can open anything doors, safeboxes, bank accounts etc but it’s 1 use only.
After tales Rhys went to multiple Atlas bases. Eventually finding one that held the deed to Atlas. Rhys used key & got the deed to the Atlas Corporation, rebuilding it from the ground up.
Fiona still has her’s but is unsure what to do with it. Her and Sasha are still doing what they were taught. Lie cheat steal move on enjoying things in the moment while trying to figure out their end goal. Perhaps the thrill of vault hunting wasn’t enough. So they started working on big corporate heist.
When are you re-doing the timeline? It'd be really cool to have it to show just how awful the movie is lore-wise lol

No, the healing watch Felix gave to Sasha was a single time use, the new writers retconned the lore so now the watch could be used multiple times and it was powered up by the green shard bs from new tales

This sounds so disappointing especially as a huge fan of tales from the borderlands in my opinion.
Gearbox needs to fix their writing, now. Cuz they've ruined so many AMAZING characters from Tales in their new games. Telltale is the new vegas of Borderlands. Better in so many ways then the mainline series.
