    آپ کا بہت بہت شکریہ کہ آپ نے اس مسئلہ پر روشنی ڈالی جس کا میری ذات سے گہرا تعلق ہے۔ کیونکہ لاہور جیسے شہر میں کتاب پرھنا بھی سفارش کے بغیر ناممکن ہے۔ کتب بینی کا استحصال جس طرح ہمارے ہاں ہوتا ہے، وہ بیان سے باہر ہے۔ امید ہے کہ آپ کی اس کاوش سے ارباب حل و عقد اس مسئلہ کی طرف نظر کرم فرامئیں گے۔

    As a college student, once me and my friend attempted to enter a library in Lahore. It was probably the Quaid-e-Azam Library. We were bookworms and wanted to explore this massive collection of infinite knowledge. But the security guard ran after us like we were two animals and cursed at us. It was really weird seeing an adult scolding us just because we wanted to enter a library.

    Libraries and mosques, they should provide all the education, research, and learning material a growing human being needs in the 21st century, regardless of age or gender. Kids, teens, adults, everyone should have free access to well stocked libraries.

    • @rabnawazkhan594
      @rabnawazkhan594 Před 2 lety +5

      That is actually a great suggestion, a little library in each mosque can make a real difference but to accomplish that the Imam sect needs to be formalized and introduced with modern education and better administration skills. In fact, they should be hired and regulated by the government.

    • @alexandra_symphony
      @alexandra_symphony Před 2 lety +2

      @@rabnawazkhan594 exactly. And women and kids should be encouraged to go to the mosque, rather than forbidden. Mosques are so unsafe nowadays, that even travels can stay there, like they used to in older times. And in many families, women are forbidden from going to the mosque, "cuz only men go there". Which is just sad, because our religion tells us the importance of mosques, and how they are our main place of prayer, learning, and socializing. In some countries, children are allowed to play inside and outside mosques, and learn together.

As a student in the 90s, I got memberships of both the American Center and the British Council's memberships, but the condition and facilities of local libraries was dismal. As there's no such thing here , even if there is such libraries then obviously that has to be quite expensive just have to pay the heavy amount for having the membership card.
    Anyway! I truly wish there should be if not many but few libraries where anyone can reach and spend few hours reading. My daughter is so fond of reading at the age of 8 yr , she's 14 now . She's creative, good at voice over, reading, writing, shows interest in calligraphy, sketches, painting, photography...... and I hope in future we must have libraries where every student every child anyone of any age can have access to read and learn with NO restrictions!!!!

    Well researched & informative video. Must make more content like this to create awareness. Appeal to govt. to contribute for public libraries & increase their no. Authorities should take this matter seriously & promote libraries to encourage reading culture.
    Elite class of Pakistan can donate millions easily to establish local libraries but who cares.

    I used to visit American centre Library Islamabad in 80s. That was a breath of fresh air for Rawalpindi/ Islamabad literary circles and public. But unfortunately, that was closed after law and order situation in the country.

    You have covered this whole problem quite rightly. it is very difficult for us teenagers and youngsters to enter a library and even if we do the lack of modern resources drive us away.

    When I watch old PTV dramas, read classic poetry and go to cultural rich places in Lahore, I found contemporary lahore an alien space with the soothing past turning to loud n noisy ppl n places.

    I grew up in Lahore as well. I remember visiting American Center (opposite FJ Medical College) Library often other than my school ones (Crescent Model). Lack of public interest in reading books is another reason for lack of Libraries. I used to visit Feroze Sons Book Store on The Mall during Pakistan visits. Now that is also gone. The decline is in line with where society has gone. Sad

      I disagree. I think if we invested a little more in libraries and less in restaurants we'll find out that there's a huge number of people who really enjoy reading but don't have the right means. ALSO HI! A FELLOW OLD-CRESCENTARIAN HERE!
