Kansas has just finished a track & field facility in Lawrence. Next major project is to Memorial Stadium. Probably digging down the field to put seats where the track currently is. Memorial Stadium is the oldest west of the Mississippi. KSU is working on their stadium as well aren't they?

Renovations with new North End Zone seating along with a new practice facility. All part of a 6 phase renovation project.

Kevin Barnacle I went by there a couple weeks ago & saw them working. They're not digging down the field like I'd hoped but there's really no reason to at this time. They're just removing the track & field parts & laying down field turf. If they get the program to a point where it's sustaining success they'll have more demand for tickets & maybe then. First things first.
So they ARE adding some seating then? They've got plenty of room in that north end for them. I've heard about the field & the decorative fence behind the south bleachers but what else are they planning? I thought their current practice facilities were pretty cool, maybe they can build a structure around the area to the northeast of the stadium where they are now.

Kevin Barnacle Oh wait, you're talking about Snyder Family Stadium aren't you. Big 12 media days going on right now down in Dallas. KU went yesterday, KSU today. If KU can just get some good QB play I think the rest of team is pretty solid. They're going back to the scheme they ran when Mangino was here. They brought back John Reagan, the old O-line coach from that time, he's been down at Rice, & he's re-installed the system. He'll also be the new O-coordinator. The D, especially the secondary, looks pretty good. The talent level @ KU has definitely improved but it's not yet shown up in the W-L stats. The Big 12 is a tough league & there are no quick fixes for what happened to KU football after the Orange Bowl season in 2007.

Yeah, and I feel bad for you guys that you have Charlie Weis. I did not like when he was coaching Notre Dame. It would be nice if the Big 12 went back to a full conference again.

Kevin Barnacle BYU is just sitting there. We missed the boat on Louisville, should've grabbed them. SMU has made it known they want in but I don't think they'll be invited. The league doesn't need another Texas team.
Weis has stepped up the recruiting at KU. Now it has to translate to more wins. If it doesn't this year the grumbling will start. As bad as the talent level was when he arrived on campus no one expected a miracle. This is year 3 though so the grace period is over.
QB Jake Heaps lost his starting job shortly after the spring game to Montell Cozart formerly of Bishop Meige. He's more suited to the spread offense anyway. Heaps has transferred to Miami U. Another batch of JUCO offensive linemen coming in to hopefully shore up the weakest area of last season's team.
Not much longer to wait to see.
