This is part 1 in a series where I share the jeans I own (not spons), how they fit my body, and whether I like them for riding horses or not. Jeans for riding are their own animal! I know this is an old video but I agree on the Kimes jeans, most of their styles are just not athletic-body-type-friendly. The style that does fit like a glove (as a girl with bigger thighs) are the Olivia’s, I would try them out they’re so cute and fit really good.

      None of the stores near me carry that style, but now I'll keep my out for them to try them on! The Jennifer style (high rise+flare) I've found does fit better than the mid-rise+bootcut Betty jeans.

    I know this is an old video but I used to LOVE Ranch Dress’N I was obsessed with their jeans until they jacked up the prices for the cheap quality they are now. Yes they’re stretchy but they’re thin. They’re not a real denim. One of my first few pairs that I LOVED ended up ripping in the crotch 😭 they were even loose on me!!! It bums me out how much they value quantity over quality now

    • @resilientreiner
      @resilientreiner  Před 8 měsíci +1

      I've noticed that, too! I love the stretchy-ness, and in the summer I appreciate the lightweight fabric. But yes, they've gotten thinner, and I have noticed distortion in the fabric (wavy, stretched out), when I take them off (and not from it being too small!). I haven't purchased more because I'm hesitant to buy jeans that are a subscription model (only last a year or so). The new trouser style are a thicker fabric than the bootcut, but I've only worn them twice so far. It's pretty frustrating, because I want to find one pair of jeans and never go shopping again, lol. Haven't found them yet.

    You were so helpful! A true REAL review! By the way, what style/brand is your hat? I ride English mostly but I live in the mountains and I rock a hat during the summer to keep the sun out of my face. I absolutely LOVE yours! Thanks girl!

And thanks for the compliments on the hat. It's by Ariat. I got it at the local feed store and it's a 2x (so not super fancy or expensive) and is working great for everyday wear. Gotta keep the sun off our faces!

    Did you size up in the wranglers if so how many sizes did you go up, I bought some nine cowboy cut wrangler slim which I think they’re the ones that you have on and they are not fitting right so I’m wondering if I should go up one or two sizes than my normal size

    • @resilientreiner
      @resilientreiner  Před 3 lety

      For the slim fit wranglers, I didn't go up in size, but it's definitely a trimmer fit. However, in the thick denim old school style wranglers I have (very similar also 100% cotton), I went up two sizes. So... depending on how you prefer them to fit, I wouldn't think twice at going up a couple of sizes. Good luck!

    Do your Jennifer’s fit true to size or stretch out at all? I just ordered my usual size in Kimes and I’m worried about them being to big from all the mixed reviews I’m reading🤦‍♀️

    • @resilientreiner
      @resilientreiner  Před 3 lety +1

      Hey! I haven't found mine stretch out hardly at all. A tiny bit, but like an exhale of breath, not like a "now they fall off my body or are a size smaller" amount.
      I would say that the sizing on the Jennifer is slightly more generous compared to the Betty, but in my opinion that's because the Betty is sized *smaller* than other jeans in the same size, and the Jennifer is more on target with any given size. Like, if you expect you are a size 10 in jeans (generally speaking), you would start with a size 10 Jennifer, but probably a size 12 or 14 in the Betty. Hope that helps!

    I wanted to get kimes ranch jeans. I’m 5’6 and usually size 14. So you said 10/34. Would you think that size would fit me?

    • @resilientreiner
      @resilientreiner  Před 7 měsíci

      The biggest limiting factor is the thigh size not the waist. They aren't very stretchy jeans. They do "give" and soften up a little throughout the day, but nothing extreme. Bodies are so different in terms of how we're shaped that it's hard to say without trying them on. As my weight has fluctuated, I've had multiple sizes. So I'd start with whatever size you typically purchase, and go from there.

  • @cinemaocd1752
    @cinemaocd1752 Před 3 lety

    Don't those super stretchy jeans fall down when you walk around? Any stretchy jean that I can pull out that far will be endlessly falling down. This was super useful for me.The whole point about flare and length is well taken. I think Kimes Ranch Betty now comes in a stretchier fabric. (Betty 17) I am shopping for new riding jeans as I recently lost weight. I've been wearing Cowgirl Tough Just Tuff, but they have very little stretch (1%) and I don't like the feel of the denim. It's very thick and sturdy but it takes forever to break in and get comfortable. Now they are just falling off and I have to do the thing where you hike them up to mount the horse. Also they were expensive (as expensive as Vimes, but made in China with serious quality control issues, like a beltloop that popped the second time I put on the jeans). FYI: the original Wrangler selling point was extra room in the thigh for squatting and getting on and off a horse so that may be why they work better for you than the Vimes, which has a more fitted thigh. The woman who teaches my riding lessons always wears leggings and hates jeans, so there's always that option, I guess.

    • @resilientreiner
      @resilientreiner  Před 3 lety

      Thanks for sharing your experience with the Just Tuff jeans. I'm sure others will appreciate it as well! And I wonder when the extra room in the Wrangler thighs disappeared. 🤔 I find leggings just too slippery for me and not durable enough for bucking hay bales at feeding time and the dirt and debris I always seem to basically wallow in. 😁 But I (surprisingly) don't have a problem with the Ranch Dress'n jeans falling down. Most of the time I do wear a belt to hold a knife or just for increased comfort and because it's easier for me to tuck in my shirt if I'm wearing a belt.
      I wish I could wear a belt with my leggings because those things fall down an annoying amount! With the jeans, if the rise is a comfortable amount, a belt doesn't hit my body in an uncomfortable way. I actually just wore the RD jeans beltless yesterday and I was worried but it ended up being fine. I have a smaller size of RD jeans now, too, and I found the legs seem about the same but the waist is a little smaller. So that's something to play with. Everyone's body is different so I'm hesitant to make any promises but for me it's not something that bothers me.

    so as i’m sure you know, riding jean recommendations are super hard to find haha, i was wondering if you could give a price comparison? i’m trying to get riding jeans on a budget, what do you know about shein jeans or maybe any finds at places like walmart or ross? please let me know, thanks for your video 💕😌

    • @resilientreiner
      @resilientreiner  Před 2 lety +1

      What a great question! You're so right - riding specific jeans recs are super hard to find. Hence me wanting to share my experience. I've actually never ordered from shein, so I can't speak to that. The biggest thing I've found with jeans from Ross and Walmart is the inseam. They're never long enough for me for riding. I HATE when jeans creep up my boots when I ride so I like a long enough inseam they don't do that. And most "fashion" jeans are designed to look good on the ground... so they have shorter inseams anyway.
      For good deals, if you have a local tack or feed store, I would look there because once or twice a year Wrangler will run promos on their jeans with good discounts. The Kimes are def $$, and don't seem to ever go on sale but I found I didn't like them as much. The Ranch Dressn are great, and they run sales throughout the year so you can get them 15-35% off depending on the sale. The wranglers best deals are usually local for me- but I think they're wrangler promos not local store sales.
      So... hope that helps some. My personal preference is I hate too short jeans with such a passion I will save up and buy jeans for riding only. Your preferences may vary of course. Good luck!

      @resilientreiner  Před 3 lety

      It's actually not a waist trimmer. It's a posture shirt that I got from my physical therapist. I just wore it so that my tummy would be covered. It's designed to wear for a few hours at a time and encourages you keep your shoulders back. I could check the brand if you want, though.
