One trick for regular nail polish that is close to being perfect but not quite pigmented enough for stamping is to leave the cap off and let it thicken up a bit. In general, if a polish looks like a one coat wonder, it usually stamps pretty well for me.
I have only used regular nail polish with stamping. The best I have found so far are Maybelline Color Show, Sally Hansens Insta-dri, Pure Ice, Broadway Nails and Sinful colors!! I just recently got some stamping polish from Mundo de Unas and cant wait to try those out.
I actually kind of like the look when they're not 100% opaque... It works with a lot of designs c: I only have 2 stamping polishes, so thanks for this video!
WOW!!! Those worked really well. Thank you for doing this video. I don't think I will be shelling out the money for stamping polishes. I am just going to try using my regular nail polishes.
I love those 1st two you stamped, they were so gorgeous! I really didn't expect them all to work as well as they did...so thank you so much for doing this video for us! I think I might go try out some of my polishes now, hahaha!😍💖💅
I've always used regular polish for my stampers and I generally prefer either color club (mostly the solid colors),china glaze or just (and mainly) kleancolor polishes since they're very thick and pigmented they work perfect plus they're super cheap
fantastic video... love the base on some of your sticks too! how you did the multi colour ones? is it with pigments... thanks for sharing... is so great especially for the people who start and are at the beginning of their stamping adventures, to know they can use just regular polish... I often use regular polish on my designs... I tend to use only the white and black 90% proper stamping polished unless am aiming for a more subtle effect, then I use regular polishes as well... but all in all I try to show affordable ways of designs... so this video really made me happy to watch! 👍 xoxo
dreamyMM Nails hey Hun, how are you? Yes the multi colour bases are pigment powders. Love my powders. Yes well I know how much I would have appreciated info like this when I was starting out. Glad you can benefit from it also. Thanks for watching xoxo
Thanks for the video! I just inventoried my favorite stamping polish today - Hit the Bottle as well - and I have more of them than I thought. I came up with around 18 of them, including five of the holos. And I also love Manisha M but she's given me a big-time Masura habit :) She told me she thought those magnetic polishes should come with a warning label LOL
Debbie Swenson I know, it's a good job I've no money most of the time as Would have a crazy collection ☺ I love hit the bottle polishes I don't mind spending that much as I know they stamp amazing every time. Thanks for watching xoxo
Gelulicious That's been a bit of a snag for me as well.I adore the range of colors that are sold in the $ stores but the quality is such that it is either too thick or eats away the 1st coat when you put a second-ends up a streaky globby mess and not at all slick and sleek ,no matter how long you sit and let dry.I am just going to buy one per month of the OPI shades that I love.(Im on a fixed retirement income)..Are there any tips for how to prolong and keep these expensive lovelies "fresh" and wonderful to use as long as possible? Any tips or hints are appreciated by this "nail art newbie".Thanks to your videos and others who give of their time and expertise,I think I'm doing ok...And love doing it!
Yay 😊 thanks for the shout out!!!! 😘 It's weird because I've just done a stamped mani this weekend purely using Essie polishes to see how it would go and I was really pleased with it. I've done it on Essie ruffles and feathers base and it's like a Jade green (so not really light) but I like how it turned out. I actually like that the stamping isn't in your face bold but more subtle. And I said to myself I should try and do more Stamping with just regular polish and see how I go! (great minds think alike) anyway TFS 🙋🏻💕
great video I always use normal polish I only have two stamping ones should really buy some more lol. I feel very jealous I can't do nails atm I had a hand operation lest week but I love watching your videos. tfs keep up the hard work 💕
karina willett Ah sorry to hear you had to have an operation, it must be torture not doing your nails if you love to do them. Glad your enjoying my videos though. Thanks for watching xoxo
I would love to use stamping but I believe I take too long to get the imagine off the stamp plate. Other than that I really would love to try again. Lol sadly not good at this. You have beautiful designs plates by the way. All the colors are beautiful as well.
Learning the art of stamping takes time & lots of patience, it took me a long time to get the hang of, I almost gave up trying, but I’m so glad I didn’t as I love all the pretty designs you get using stamping plates. Thanks for watching xoxo
I'm impressed Queen G 👍😍 I have alot of regular polishes all different brands ( mostly bought from poundland too 😋) I'm going to have to test them at stamping 👍 Really helpful video TY and beautiful swatches as always 😘 xox
Sharon Buchanan Well I'm pleased you can benefit from this video, I love Poundland although I can't go there very often as I spend loads, seriously £40 one time on nail products ☺ I got alot of items that day. It was great for when I was starting my channel though as didn't and still don't really have a big nail budget. Thanks for watching xoxo
I bought 2 silver polishes last month 1 Was moyou london for £5 and the other sally hansen which was £2 on offer on amazon and much as I love moyou london the sally hansen one wipes the floor with any silvers I have used ever. On black it is totally crisp and clear, fantastic pick up too. I'm a stamping snob and if there are any blemishes in isn't at all ill start again but with this I have never had again problem , I've used it with cheep plates and my fave born pretty ones with no difference between the 2 xx
clare massey That's awesome. I've used sally Hansen before and I think they are good, not pigmented enough to stamp over black but light colours stamps fine. Thanks for watching xoxo
T b h I've never really liked sally hansen polishes but the silver one is Gr8 for stamping and some of the others are when I add pigments ,I tend to buy them if they're on offer and play with them but not if they're full price , I bought some little stampng polishes from eBay last week just because they're only £2 and I try at least one cheepy one a month and I was pretty impressed, they're called kand nail ,sometimes I unearth some really good ones when I do a budget try out
clare massey I don't buy sally Hansen full price, we have a Poundland where you can buy them for £1 so if I see nice colours I purchase them. But to be honest I do prefer stamping polish as it's just so pigmented xoxo
Gelulicious I got my first konad set about 8 years ago 😂 since then I have had mo you, moyra, bundle monster, some random ebay ones. Lots of different stampers and I still can't do it. I've actually given up 😂 I still watch stamping videos though 😆 you're very welcome love! Xx
stephyclaws oh no, well you certainly tried a lot 😂 sometimes you have to admit defeat. I cannot water marble, not even if my life depended on it. Can't freehand either ☺
@@Gelulicious I have just try out the Avon nail polish and it proper stamped and came out lol but I put it on fake nail. Will get more ordinary nail polish. I have had trouble stamping amount of times I kept trying wasn't doing finally it done it thanks.
stateofdisorder1977 well I'm glad most of my Reg polishes work as I don't often buy Reg polish as I'm a gel lady so it's great I can use them for stamping. Thanks for watching xoxo
Do you prime your stamps? Whenever i stamp, i leave a piece of packing tape beside my work station, and stamp the tape before i stamp a plate. I could never get my polishes to pick up but then I tried this technique and now it works every time. I know it's been two years since you asked that question so hopefully that helps
i am not sure how easy are these drugstore polishes to get but essence color boost line (cremes) and p2 techno chrome line also seems to stamp well(they are about 2 euro,i just bought them this week from DM in Germany so i did not have had time to try them myself)
A lot of times I'll just stamp colors with standart nail polish.. I don't mind the picetag when it's black or white but to buy every color in stamping polish formular would be unaffordable for me.
Hiii what type of nail polish did u use for base color on nails before stamping? Is it gel or regular one? And the top coat over after stamping should be regular/gel nail polish? And for regular nail polish stamping should use the quick dry one?
I used gel polishes for the Base, so I would use gel topcoat after stamping. But you can do this with regular polish as Base and regular polish as topcoat, just test it before hand so you know it’s not a Topcoat that will smudge. Thanks for watching xoxo
im new to stamping and you seem to have tried and tested many stamping plates and jelly stampers, which stamper in particular works well with just about any stamping plate and nail polish? looking for one that picks up images very well not like a cheap ebay one haha
Now that’s a question 🤔 I would say for a normal Stamper and a newbie to stamping I would recommend this Stamper czcams.com/video/_6O0ggoulEE/video.html For a clear Stamper I would recommend the the big bling Stamper from Clear Jelly Stamper. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching xoxo
@@Gelulicious awesome thanks for our suggestions, not too sure if ill be able to get that nail artisan one as i am in canada and that may be too much for the shipping cost, but i have heard great things about clear jelly stamper, i was just looking at the website last night! looks great :)

hi. i have started putting on a top coat before stamping. stopped all of the bottom color from bleeding through. as for the smudging, just give it some extra time to dry then get a good amount of top coat and let it float over the design. gently brush it without actually pushing down. hope this helps
I didn't use to cover the whole pattern either, but since I started using more polish and covering the whole area, my stamping became much, much better.
Not strictly true. If the plates are deep cut, you’ll often get uneven depth if you don’t fill the entire design with polish first before scraping. Once you then transfer it to the nail, it might have uneven opacity because some areas have thinner coverage than others.

Super good to know, but uh, you use too much polish on the plates... You don't need to cover the whole pattern.
