  • @garnet0101

Brian wrote this in 1996. He mailed it to Roger. Roger stuck it in a drawer for a year, typical Roger. He got it out and called Brian and said we have to do this. Last performance with Deaky.

I cry as soon as Brian starts singing. It’s such a beautiful song but man a sucker punch to the heart

It was my late dad who introduced me to Queen, way back un the 1970s. I'm not sure he knew or cared back then about Freddie being gay, but when I came out (1984), after my parents got over the shock, my dad's thing was finding out how many famous people he knew of were gay, many he never suspected, I guess as a way to help himself realise, I was okay, and would be okay. Queen will always remind me of dad. They helped him accept me as I am. How powerful is that?

Brian has said repeatedly he feels Freddie is still with them.
Deaky was hit hardest, and it Shows in this Video... but they all took Freddie's death hard.

I have a lot of respect for the three of them and I understand Deakys decision 100%.

They all took it super hard. Roger has a 10 foot statue of Freddie in his garden, Brian had such severe depressive he had to go to therapy everyday for months. John took it hard, but I think because he left the music people think he was hit the hardest, maybe he deals with it differently. We all took Freddie’s death so very difficult for his fans we know the heartbreak also. RIP darling Freddie you are never forgotten and you will never be boring.

This is so sad but also so beautiful. Brian wrote this song for Freddie and gave a tape of it to Roger to listen to. Roger put it somewhere and forgot about it. When he found it and listened to it, he told Brian that he really liked the song (unusual, Roger rarely likes Brian's songs) and that they should do the song as Queen. So they got John onboard and made this beautiful tribute to Freddie. The glass of wine on the piano was there because at some point in many if not all Queen performances, Freddie would toast the audience. Brian is also playing Freddie's piano for this song. I get choked up every time I watch this video but in a way it also makes me smile because I know that all of the clips were selected by his mates so each one has a special meaning to them. Thank you for this reaction, I am guessing this will probably hit you like Those Were The Days Of Our Lives did.

Thank you, this band is thee greatest multi-talented band ever. If you thought this was heart wrenching, Mother Love is another song that brought me to tears, Freddie was so ill he sang the first two verses with so much passion but told Brian I have to go rest I’ll come back later to finish it and he passed away before he could finish it, Brian sings the last verse, it was crushing. RIP to Our Beloved Freddie!!

You are right, it was a very very hard situation for the guys who lost their brother. Roger was driving his car wanted to visit Freddie, but when he was only 300 yards away from there, he got a phone call, that Freddie was gone.
Roger wrote a very good song about their friendship called Old Friends.
As Roger said in an interview: „He's just part of the mental wallpaper, you don’t forget him ever. He’s been gone a long time but we never forget him, he is part of us. Brian and I, we always think he's in the corner and we think we know what he would think when we're talking.”

Brian strikes again. Just lovely. There is a lot of imagery specific to Freddie & the band.
I’m always struck by how big a concert grand is. Although I don’t think this is Freddie’s, on stage his piano was always off to the side, and half in shadow.
Brian does have Freddie’s touring piano, which makes me happy.
Just look at John, it was hard. Old friends by Roger is super sweet as only Roger can be.

Just subbed for Queen. This song always brings tears to my eyes. They were all their lives as brothers and Freddie's death killed them. Brian was very depressed with his life and was considering suicide. John Deacon finally left the music, Roger was beaten, but still managed to start a tribute concert in honor of Freddie's life's work. It was a powerful and wonderful Wembley concert with all the celebrities. Thak You for this beautiful song and reaction!

  • @AnaReginaNica
    @AnaReginaNica Před rokem +2

Brian was the one who wrote this masterpiece... He sent the lyrics to Roger to see if he liked, but Roger shoved it on a drawer and totally forgot about it. Well, we are talking about the one guy who could remember scores from their scrabble games almost 50 years later (and basslines the bassist/songwriter himself couldn't after a pizza, right, Mr. John Deacon?), so, for Roger Taylor to forget anything, about an entire song no less, it just shows how much Freddie's death affected all of them.
Then, a long time after that, Roger found the lyrics again, took all his courage to read, and decided he really liked it. Then, he showed the lyrics to John, who agreed to reccord. It was one of the last things John did as a visible Queen (he still takes care of the band's finances today, but maintains himself as far of the limelight as possible).
At the end of this video, we can hear Brian about to break down, and someone (I'm guessing John) says "Brian, relax".
