Renault Duster will always be remembered as a classic and trendsetter SUV in India. Always my favorite.
Duster is the most spacious and comfortable suv I have experienced ever. Its AMT variant will comfort the driving experience too.
Duster is India's first power-packed suv with 6-speed automatic transmission feature for a smoother drive. And ofcourse it does really well on rough terrains also.
Duster so far has been the only suv in india that altered thoughts of many regarding how suv looks or performs, saying in bold terms “The Duster is an suv, reimagined!”

Duster is a top class SUV capable of doing wonders on the road. AWD variant is particularly good and now with AMT, better gear ratios than before, slightly better interiors, it is well worth the money.

I don't know why people compare Duster with Creta, both are entirely different of course in Creta you get some extra lights for more money that is it.
Android Fx nope both car's power to weight ratio is almost similar where Duster excels is its lesser turbo lag unlike Creta which suffers a lot u have to push pass 2100rpm to get the engine lively whereas Duster pulls cleanly right from low 1300rpm and the in gear acceleration is lot quicker due it's light kerb weight than Creta
creta isn't an SUV. it's a bloody joke. I've done dunes with the duster in dubai. the duster is a budget suv and is worthy of the name SUV.
Creta is luxury, a pseudo SUV for cities.. Duster is for namesake of SUV..
performance vise duster beat all small suv
the ground clearance and suspension of this car is really great, stable driving on bad roads. the dashboard looks so much better than the older variants. Is this Easy AMT transmission going to be great on performance?

+Rameez Shahjahan Engine is the same K9K unit with the 8-valve SOHC setup. The turbo on the THP version is slightly tweaked to reduce lag.

Any reviews of the Petrol Engine of the Duster. How great is that and what is the real fuel economy in petrol variant like?
Also does the RxL version of Petrol come with all the interior upgrades like touch screen infotainment, automatic climate control and if any rear AC vents?

I was waiting for Duster Dealership to be opened in Aizawl during 2015 as i want to buy Duster, Unfortunately the opening of dealership process was so slow that time. unintentionally i bought Ecosport... Duster is for sure next time.
XUV500 is best car in this sort of price segment which has more features, better interior and 7 seats.... I had test drive recently Fortuner, Scorpio & XUV500...... XUV500 is coming home soon.....

dshiningsword Thats why I'm saying... why are you even comparing an XUV to a duster. XUV beats a duster any day. Also, the XUV has more features, a more powerful engine, etc etc... Duster ends at 14.5 lakhs while the XUV ends at 17.8 lakhs.

Skoda Yeti is out of mindsets of India .. Does not fall in any segment.. People go for low variant Big Fortunner than classy Yeti in the price offered..

Still Looks Shit for the rear. And whats with the Nano transmission AMT. Which caters to low class vehicle . Major downer at the transmission part. They should have worked with Nissan Cvt Xtronic tranmission as bare minimum.

Can the manual mode in AMT give the same fun and enthusiasm in riding as much as the manual gearbox itself gives? Confused between duster manual and AMT? Do they both get 0 to 100kmph in same time? I know the auto/D mode gives you jerky and lazy ride

The front definitely has a more meaner look than the earlier version . But I don't see how this is one is going to challenge Creta . Renault definitely needs to add more meanness to Duster's character if they are looking to top the sales of this segment again . With the ride quality that duster has , the only thing missing is that bad boy feel . The rear even now looks like a well mannered job professional instead of an angry young brat and it is a very big factor as the looks mean a lot to us Indians...

I agree with you on the fact that Creta is infact a raised elite i20 except to me the front seems to be inspired by Santa Fe . Over all credentials , yes the duster is ahead of Creta surely . But my point remains the same . We in India are so much looks driven that the vehicles must have an expressive exterior to go with the mechanicals . Take for example Toyota Etios , it was by far the best when it comes to mechanicals among the compact sedans .But it never managed to gather enough sales as a personal car . This is exactly where Creta has been hammering Duster and others in its class . While Duster may be the better vehicle , it isn't the one which looks sharper . And the sales of Creta are speaking for itself

Only people with heart buy european cars and that's why normally Indian's will majorly rely on suzukis and hyundais however rubbish they may be. I have a Duster RxZ since its launch in India. The car has guts and styling unlike BOXY Creta, awfully cheap dimensions of Ecosport and village like XUV.

+Ivan Castellino Because an AMT unit is augmented over an existing transmission unit. If Renault went with a "real" auto box such as CVT, torque-converter, or DSG, then they'd have to re-engineer the entire transmission unit.

+btarunr doesn't matter mate a AMT in a segment of hatchbacks is perhaps ok but in this segment it should be a CVT or a TC since an AMT Is essentially a robotised manual gearbox although cheaper and fuel efficient it robs one of a pure automatic fun if you don't believe me go drive a AMT & a CVT back to back
Duster automatic should have had a Hyundai CRETA like GB
Economics is fine to a hatch buyer but this segment it's not mostly cost won't master as much (it will but won't be a deal breaker)

it's a outdated design. look at the screen it's placed so low. it's sure to cause accident it the driver tries to change anything in touch screen. plastics looks cheap. it's a chrap vehicle and sold at whooping price. though road grip is good it's more like a truck. it's a condensed pathfinder design. India is a dump yard where all failure vehicles are dumped and guess what.. it goes hit. creta has better fit and finish and looks generation ahead of duster.
