I actually did this project and all my friends loved it.. I’m not an expert but was able to follow the instructions and finish it.. now I have to find a good spot to hang it . It was a long project though, with full time work with a one year didn’t help too.. took me almost a month to finish it but I’m really excited. Thank you for this beautiful project.

I love this. I do macrame all the time in my horse tack business. I made one of these years ago and it lasted a very long time even being outside. I use 6mm macrame cord for a lot of my tack designs. The macrame cord comes in an endless supply of colors too! Beautiful job! I just started a channel myself and it is challenging to get the camera and all the supplies ready to go. Thx for taking the time to make this. Awesome 👍

Hey Lady, I watched your video years ago and have been salivating over it ever since! ❤❤❤ Unfortunately, due to a fixed income, I could never afford the materials. I've sold my house so will finally, finally have the funds to follow my dream. The temptation to spend money I cannot afford till closing in 30 days is palpable, but I must maintain a modicum of self control 🙃 Hmmm 🤔 WTH! Self control be damned. @@dianaelenaleon I have my supplies but due to life being so busy I have not yet to get to it. I hope to get to it by the fall. I will update then. Good luck to you.. The video is pretty good with instructions watch a few times and write it down. Only set back is that supplies are slightly costly but the beauty is worth the extra coin in my opinion.

It's amasong and just what i want and need for my balcony... only thing i'beginner in macrame so knots are big trouble to me, also attaching to cord, and on video can't see what exactly you are doing...

I made the hammock for my husband's birthday and it was about 7 feet long when finished ... I used white cotton mopping rope because it was lovely and soft. I don't know if my husband still has it as we divorced many years later.
One of my daughters asked me to make one for her & I managed to find and buy the same 1970s pattern book. It has some great patterns in it. I also found some other vintage pattern books with really beautiful macrame plant hangers and hanging tables.
Angela Rudge that’s amazing! What a great gift! The old macrame books I have belonged to my step fathers mother and they are some of my favorites. The detail in them is so unique from the macrame books that have come out more recently. I don’t have any with hanging tables but that sounds so cool! I’m expecting my first child soon and am thinking about making him a swing. I love that you’ve held on to those books! I’m sure you can make some wonderful things with them.

beautiful hammock! I've been looking for a tutorial forever. FOUND IT! Questions... how long did it take you and what is the weight that it will hold?
Not sure about the weight but my husband and I have both laid in it together and add up to about 330 pounds combined. Making this took about a month of me working on it in my spare time. I was also filming it so that’s an extra amount of work added

Love This. Newbie to Macrame but me and my crazy self are going to give it a go. I am tying to calculate how much additional rope is needed to make it 12” wider. I’m guessing about 1/3 more of everything?? Or around 800’ more of rope? But I guess I can always buy more if I run short? I have also calculated adding in one more braided piece at the ends so 4 instead of 3; and extra rope for the design area between the two dowels. Just thinking out loud - hoping to get some feedback if you’re not too busy. Have a great day!! 😄

Megan Bell Thanks for replying Megan. Just a curious question: in your video you mention a relative gave you the instructions for this hammock. Can I ask how “vintage” it is? Just wondering. I’ve started and just got to the 2nd dowel. It’s very time consuming with the very very very long ropes. I spend most time trying to keep them all untangled - but I’m not giving up!

Amazing hammock, truly inspired by what you've done.Only one question: would you be so kind to clarify total length of cord being used (or explain values in cut list, e.g. 10 144''=xxx metres).I'm from Ukraine and mixed up with the measurements due to different systems. Many thanks for you video and support. Still believe that able to create such a great hammock by myself:)
Hey! Great question! I purchased a spool of cord that measured 2400 feet for this project and I used about 80% of that spool to complete it. I would say to have about 700 meters of cording for this project. You may have a bit left over but not too much. It's quite a project!

What book would you recommend that shows all the knots and patterns? That being said it is hard to tell from the video of just how you are making the knots tieing off to the rod. Maybe you could zoom in more next time.

Hannah, with recording and everything it added a ton of time to this project for me. It’s hard to give an estimate for just doing the hammock alone. I would say I could have done this in two weeks in my spare time while working a full time job. But that’s without and children to factor in. It just depends on how much time you have to dedicate to it. If you’re quick and know the knots it could be done in a day or day and a half working on it straight through.
