Learn more about the musician:
Sukhwinder Singh (affectionately known as ‘Pinky’) is a singular percussionist, specialising in low-tuned tabla and jori. Hailing from the Punjab, his first musical immersions were in dholak and pakhawaj, playing traditional Sikh devotional music.
His talent was spotted early, and at age five he became a disciple of pakhawaj exponent Nihal Singh. His public debut aged 13 left a strong impression on Alla Rakha, but soon after he left to Varanasi to train under the legendary Benares gharana master Pandit Kishan Maharaj.
His subsequent career has featured accompaniment slots with Pandit Ravi Shankar, Ustad Vilayat Khan, Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, and other leading Hindustani instrumentalists, and a Grammy award for his work with Ry Cooder and Pandit Vishwa Mohan Bhatt on A Meeting by the River.
Ustad Zakir Hussain proclaimed him to be the world’s foremost jori exponent after his solo at Allah Rakha’s 2016 memorial concert. Now based in India, England, and Canada, he is known as a charismatic performer and teacher, dedicated to bringing the Punjab and Benares repertoire to audiences around the world.
Musicians:
Sukhwinder Singh (tabla)
Milind Kulkarni (harmonium)

Sishya of Pandit Kishan Maharaj, King of Jori, master of Dhamar taal, Gem of Benares style and master of sikh spiritual accompaniment. The list goes on and on. Love this Ustad. Pranam 🙏
best introduction !❤️
Ohhh he is from Banaras gharana till now i am considering him from Punjab Gharana 😅😅.. thanks for info
Actually, Ustadji has received Talim from both Benaras and Punjab schools of Rhythm. His infallible Jori technique is largely based on Punjab Baaj. He started by learning the intricacies of Pakhawaj and Dholak when he was 5 years old, under Punjab Gharana exponent Ustad Nihal Singhji. 🙏
Kahe kah ustad nasedi hai ek no.kah sikh hokar hair cur kr liye jabb dil krta hai turban bandh leta hai jabb dil krta hai hair cut kr leta hai
Pinky is no sikh. The panth does not accept him. He doesn't represent any of the sikh values.
Imagine the day and night he has practiced to get this perfection, incredible, pranaam ustad ji 🙏
Banares gharana has the power to extract Tears from my eyes...
6:45 When you see the powder on the dagga, that looks so cool. It complements how good Pt sukhwinder ji is at playing.

Thank you, Dhaneshwari. :) 🙏
Tabla Guru Pandit Samrat Kakkeri always taught that playing this kaida "Dha Dha Tita Dha Dha Tun Na + Na Na Tita Dha Dha Dhin Na" for practice 1 hour every day, makes a tabla player very strong and able to play anything in tabla solo and accompiment. He taught that this makes the hand very strong.

वाह वाह क्या बात है
Honestly, I am new to this music. I love it. But I am also eager to learn about it. Now I just have one maybe simple sounding question: How is this style of singing called, most of them tabla players do, that kind of rythmic singing. What is the thing behind it?
It's called Lehra. It keeps up the time cycle.
matur suksmA
Wow
Wah wah
Guru ji
Like Vedas have verses this would be a recital of each verse. Word to word, point to point, and sound to sound. The man has a Ph.D. on each sound that will come out of the tabla.
So lucky 30,000 people as of 22/3
From which concert is the intro music ??
Great baya

I really enjoy darbar videos as their sound recordings are very clear and you can hear every detail. But for some reason, this one the recording isn't clearly as good. Really disappointed in Darbar
Hello Suf Sanin, thank you for your comment, I will pass your feedback on to our audio engineer.
@@darbarfestival I am glad you took this positively.
🙏
@@darbarfestival actually its extremly clear audio but the soundstage has been widened to create the seperation from harmonium and bayan and dayan sounds. There is an echo present likely from the venue and overall gain is low need to increase the volume.
@@Maidsfad093 I see, very interesting!
Main to dekhta ka dekhta hi reh gya… itne tej to ped se patte b nhi hilte honge jitne ustad ji k haath table pe…
