Jökulsárlón Zodiac Boat Tour: Exploring Iceland's Famous Glacier Lagoon

Exploring Jökulsárlón by Zodiac boat was amazing! Though the skies were dark and the rain was constant, this was an adventure I'd recommend for everyone. We picked the Zodiac due its ability to get closer to the icebergs than on the amphibian, even getting almost all the way up to the glacier when possible.
Jökulsárlón is Iceland’s most famous glacier lagoon. Located in the southeast by Route 1, about halfway between the Skaftafell Nature Reserve and Höfn, it is a popular stop for those traveling along the South Coast or around the Ring Road of the country. Be sure to visit the famous Diamond Beach right next to it as well!

Would you recommend zodiac or amphibian boat tour?

I would recommend the zodiac boat because you explore more of the area and can get much closer to the icebergs and glacier. We were also able to see a lot of seals due to the quick mobility of the zodiac, though unfortunately I didn’t capture videos of all the seals we saw on the tour.
The zodiac was also just a very fun ride!

Thanks for this. I had the same question. The zodiac seems like alot of people packed in. Was that a bit restrictive?

So we did boat tour in August and zodiac boat was awesome. I would recommend booking it asap as they have limited space, tours per day.
