I think it's basic English manner! I happen to have conversed with English friends & that's what I have observed -- they always call you by your name esp. during a tet-a-tet! It really makes the chat somewhat personal!

According to google there is only one restaurant by the name she gave in London.... and it's basically a common pizza place. The word cafe comes into mind more than restaurant, and her fish and chip shop neighbours probably agree.
