Omg finally someone else realizes this. The Kpop industry (and music industry as a whole) is insanely exploitative. All that money goes to the company and idols walking around in luxury brands 90% of the time, didn’t buy it with their own money. The brands most likely give it to them as a form of advertising (and sometimes they pay them) which is really decided by their companies, not the artists. And all the flexing in MV’s is just for show, it’s not a reflection of the artist’s stability. The same applies to western rap artists where flex culture is everywhere. Most of these artists are broke…

I don't think idols always intend to "show off" when they're just going to airports and stuff (also don't think anything is wrong with showing off your personal fashion) but luxury brand items honestly exist to be brandished. And when they wear it because they're supposed to advertise it, then showing it off is sort of the purpose. They do collaborated with Lv..bt as a group only..! And they dont even have their own insta accounts at that time.. they didnt promote the brand as influencers.. their main focus was/is still music..becoz, bighit nd bts doesnt wanted to focus on promoting luxuries at that time..before entering their second chapter, they tried to give their fans as much as music, legendary performances nd other fun activities to enjoy while they hold their group activities...So, after getting all these greater achievements as a group, after their years of their hardwork...they definitly deserve to shine on their own.. each bts member has the most power, influence, respect in the world to reprsent as the ambassdrs of luxury brands unlike some kids with 5 songs...
Bts army includes not only kids, majority of the army fandom are adults.. we hv our own money to buy luxuries.. eventho bts starts promoting luxury brands individually, they still focusing on music more.. and barely promoting their brnds on instagram.. they releasing solo albums as a full length studio album..mostly written and composed by them.. They never forgot the pathway they came through.. and thats wat make them the best..

It may just be my personal taste, but I don't understand the hype around clothes and accessories that have giant brand logos. When I see clothings that have brand logos on them, it's not attractive to me. Then I watched this tiktok about how luxury brands have tiers. They have the "commoner tier", the products have brand logos in them. And then they have "elite tier" that's apparently saved for the old money people.
I'm over here liking the "elite tier" and I don't even have the money for the "commoner tier"

People do realize that 90% of the items the idols are wearing are not theirs right? A stylist just throws it on them for their walk to the TV station and then literally takes it off them the moment they get behind closed doors so the items can be taken back to the vendor.

Meanwhile, I was watching a behind the scenes Vlog for a kpop group touring the US, and the artist was all excited about the three tshirts he had just gotten from WalMart. There are lots of very down to earth artists in kpop too. One think I find endearing about my ults is that some of them have favorite shirts/hats/etc., and you can see those items popping up on lives and behind the scenes videos for years.
So, yes, Kpop is very visually oriented, so dressing fashionably will be a thing, especially for more popular groups (they have more visibility and more money), but mileage will vary.

Age doesn't bother me, since all of us from the time we are babies must dress up and follow fashions, whether luxury or not. What should matter is if the idol is focused on his music or just on modeling, since the main meaning is lost. I am grateful that BTS, after a successful first chapter that lasted 10 years, now gave themselves the opportunity to work with brands that represent them as individuals. The vast majority of fans are adults and more than one will be able to afford to buy clothes

kpop idols started to become walking advertisements. All airport looks are plastered with chanel, dior, gucci, etc. People are spending less and less bc of inflation and seeing all of these advertisements online on every 3rd post of these idols just makes me angry. Fans just have to stop consuming so much in general. Consuming culture is toxic esp. when it comes to luxury goods. These brands make millions, dont give them more by getting broke yourself - be clever ! Most of these brands arent even that environmental friendlier than other less pricey brands, its just obvious trolling these brands do at this point.

Seriously!!!! Finally someone speaking about it . After seeing some kdramas and videos I always wondered why can't they live in a spacious house with normal items instead of living in a congested house with luxurious clothing and makeup and bags and so on .... the one thing I would like to say to the younger generations is pls don't get influenced by these . We must be happy with what we have . As long as u have CLOTHES it doesn't matter . Doesn't matter if it is a $20 jeans or $2000 jeans IT IS STILL A JEANS WHICH WE WEAR . As long as u have a bag for keeping your stuff it doesnt matter , as long as u have makeup and skincare which is suitable for your skin it doesnt matter .our parents work really hard and we work really hard to earn a living and if u r student u must work on your career . U might buy 2 or 3 or these luxurious products for your satisfaction but if it is to show off pls don't.if it is your parents money then definitely don't. Bro seriously some of the dresses these idols wear r expensive than my annual house rent . THE DECISION U TAKE DEPENDS ON YOUR MINDSET !!!! If u look at me I have been a kpop fan for years and I have watched tons of kdramas .. but I never bought any merch or luxurious clothing of any kpop group or brand . U need to understand that idols mostly do not own 90% of the luxurious clothing they wear . It is just companies which use idols as an advertisement tool . We have no idea what is happening behind the camera . The dresses and jewelery worn by them r returned . It is all the kpop companies who do these . A lot of idols dint even receive their salaries and even if they did it is very low . It is all business. Luxurious brands use idols to sell their products and companies use idols to earn money . There is no guarantee or proof that idols own all they wear!!!

But Korea (like many other countries) worships good looks. In clothes, accessories and even places. When I was there, it was very interesting to see the clash between this "pretty" oriented society and the more realistic, authentic, older, not as pretty side of the country. This also happens in the idol industry, obviously. One thing I've realized is that idols don't share their dorms as much as before (i got into kpop in 2012), and many groups showcased their living spaces which were, mostly, so small, full of stuff and somewhat claustrophobic in my opinion. It was so interesting to see that they returned there after their schedules, but people tend to forget that being an idol is not luxurious at all: they don't sleep much, don't have much time for anything else than practice and work and many of them don't see much money at the beginning of their careers (this could take years). But the industry is for the fans, to sell a type of life, youth and beautiful people, and also luxury. But that's just work, not reality.

I dont get why young fans tend to just buy everything and flex everything. I dont get why they make expensive photocards as a keychain and then cries for a week if it got damaged. Over flexing culture is just nonsense but a toxic deed inside the fandom that teaches young people to even fool their parents just to buy kpop merchandises. Its just to much nowadays
