- This is an unused scene that was removed from the game, this scene existed unused and unfinished in the original PS3 release of Persona 5, but was then later completely deleted from the game files on Persona 5 Royal and all subsequent re-releases.
The scene has been cleaned up due to original text sometimes being mismatched from English spoken audio, and other minor issues such as missing sound effects, etc.
This scene was also placed where it would've belonged chronologically in the story.

Being from Hawaii, I'm really impressed by Makoto's pronunciation, I was expecting it to get butchered. Ann is right though, it's not a great tourist stop, it is literally just the statue in front of the judiciary, with nothing else around of particular interest, especially for high school kids.
The hard-shelled crab... the uniter of The Hawaiian Island... and his name somehow got transferred into a Dragon Ball technique.

I can see why this was removed, it's super disrespectful and makes the gang look like jerks.
I mean, they are still teenagers. And most of the ones I knew back in high school were like this.
They could have scripted this differently. For example maybe Matoko suggested this spot and she described what this statue is.
P5 is pretty heavy on trivia and general education stuff. They could have added a piece for Hawaiian history.

@graetestfanever1 yeaaaaah but I feel like there's probably a problem when you realize they're being written by grown adults.
Usually Persona's trivia is more like "oh this is neat" and this one cutscene seems way more like "damn I wish we never came here to talk about hawaii's history" so it could probably be taken as offensive.
And then there's the "Oh is he your type?" After hearing he passed a law to not kill civilians in war 😭

Should be. I think the only main difference is some words are a little different, but it's mostly about the same iirc

Its still beyond wild to me how there's unused voice lines for scenes that are still there, like what was the point of recording if you're not gonna use it?

You're wrong in assuming it's Spanish. Jose doesn't always sound like Hose.
There's tons of thousands of guys named José across Portuguese speaking nations i.e. Brazil & Portugal, and the ingame pronunciation is OK for that. Portuguese Js sound similar to English Js.
