well tried unrooted way and didnt work for me, so perhaps phone would have to be rooted. and to me now that don't make no sense to me rooting my phone now just to use MODDED version of on APP, why am I to go through all that trouble now when don't have slightest idea how root a phone.....

First uninstall the old one ( remember to rename com.whatsapp folder in Android/media before uninstall)
