    Amazing what a few years can do for video formats like this. 7 years ago, I tried making films like this. Canvased PALH for a few weeks and couldn't find one pilot that wanted a video tribute to their aircraft and lifestyle. It's like they were afraid the FAA would arrest them. Now, these formats are common, and I love it! Great work!

    Gorgeous 180. Thanks for sharing! I own and fly a 1955 180 out of PAMR. It too has had several mods over the years and is currently getting a panel upgrade. These airplanes are worth the time and money we put into them.

    If you like the Cessna 180/185, the check out the Bushliner Cyclone 1850. If you’re going to retrofit avionics in your 180, check out their NextGen panel+frame system.

    Nice Video, Very Informative. I have a 75’ 180 that has been in the family since new. My father flew it until he was 85. He just turned 90 and still comes with me. I soloed in it in 1976. It has most of the mods yours has. You are in for a lifetime memories with your “Girls”. One thing? How do you get “6.5 hours flying plus 1 hour reserve out of 80 gallons”? That is some endurance! LOP?

    • @AKFamilywagon
      @AKFamilywagon Před 6 měsíci +3

      2300rpm, 21”mp, pull the red knob back until it’s slightly rough, then in to smooth. Six cylinder engine monitor is vital. 10.5gph. Of course if you land and take off a few times, it would be less than that slightly.

  • @PostcardsfromAlaska
    @PostcardsfromAlaska Před 6 měsíci

    Beautiful plane. But I’m not sure I agree it’s not capable of super cub stuff. Stripped down and light on fuel, a stock 180 at sea level is mighty bushworthy.

    • @AirplanesInTheWild
      @AirplanesInTheWild  Před 6 měsíci +1

      Depends on how you define super cub stuff. The cub gear allows for some pretty rough landing areas that would tear up the 180 gear box

    • @AirplanesInTheWild
      @AirplanesInTheWild  Před 6 měsíci +1

      I think he does downplay the capabilities of his plane though. He’s a humble guy
