An excellent interpretation of Shelley's Frankenstein. Quite close to the book itself! I can't help but feel sorry for the creature. He didn't ask for any of this, but because he is "other," he is persecuted, rejected and forever an outsider.
Glad you enjoyed - thanks for watching!
The sins of the father..........
Film je najboljša verzija Frankensteina do zdej videna.Vsako sekundo sam čutila gledajoči... Hvala za vse!
I agree so much with what you say
Sounds strikingly familiar.
This is definitely the most accurate Frankenstein adaptation. The look of the monster and his description in the book is almost spot on.
Thank you for watching and commenting!
except for the monster is not huge enough.
True
Men will never create life.
I guess you never saw the modern 1 with Robert Deniro 🙄
Prince Nuada, he has the most beautiful voice I have heard.
The "monster's" pain and grief never fails to break the heart and fill my eyes with tears, chased and beaten by people simply for existing.
And still it happens today, and I hate humans for it, for their hypocrisy, bigotry, for their cruelty.
For all those that are different, or feel different, you are the magic in this world; don't let them kill that part of you, I cherish your difference.
I’m not the only one who finds the monster in this adaption attractive…. Right?
This is the version I was hoping to find. So awesome to see an adaptation so close to the original story.
So glad you found it!
Never seen Donald Sutherland in a bad movie great actor and a great film
Victor was having so much success with every one of his experiments that I expected the creature to immediately wake up and say, "Oh, hello, you must be Victor..... Thank you for bringing me back to life. Do you have an aspirin? I've got a splittin' headache. " All spoken with a lovely cockney accent. Last time I had my head sewed back on, it took me days to get a good range of motion. LOL Fun movie, well acted, thanks for the upload.
this is and will always be the best Frankenstein movie.
That's the kind of compliment we will happily accept. Thanks for the nice words!
"frankenstein,,, the true story",,,, with james mason & jane seymore is better imo
Mmhh I'll see it thanks for the advice ;)
I'm enjoying this movie immensely and looking forward to part 2. Poor old monster, he seems like such a nice guy. 😂
The Monster is Victor, not the being Victor chose to assemble and animate. But I see the poor creature worthy of the sympathy you feel and allude to.
`Shelly`s 1815 Novel - as likely as not - was way ahead of her time.
This was hands down the most faithful adaptation of the source material than any other before, almost word for word. The original with Boris Karloff was a completely different story conveniently with the same name & origin in a superficial sense. The sequel Bride of Frankenstein was its own thing with Elsa Lanchester portraying Mary Shelley & appearing as the bride for maybe like 5 minutes if that which, to be fair, the original book only briefly mentioned the bride as well but the sequel was literally called Bride of Frankenstein so she should’ve been the main focus rather than being an afterthought in the last 5 minutes of the film where she just gets her scenes of jerking her head & screaming then dying from electrocution. This retained the philosophical elements of the original with stellar performances by the cast who really made you empathize with & care about them. But also did incorporate some elements of the original Universal James Whale directed films like creating the creature from cadavers & animating it to life via electricity whereas in the book, the creature is created from scratch & animated through a previously unknown & undescribed process which couldn’t be done in film because in books you can just say how something was done without describing it but you have to show it being done in film or television so they had to change how the creature was created in the original Universal films & here but it didn’t ruin the story. I can’t say enough good about this film, it’s absolutely fantastic.
One of the best Frankenstein adaptation and a great movie in itself.
Thanks for the great comment!
Are we talking about the book or movie cuz the dean koontz book is way different
Luke goss is a underrated actor
I will admit that this is first Frankenstein movie that I have ever seen. After watching it, one can definitely understand the Creature's pain and rage. To me, Victor allowed his morbid obsession with death and his quest to overcome it get the better of him and it cost him dearly.
Young Frankenstein is and will always be my favorite 👍 Mel Brooks and Gene Wilder and, of course, Marty Feldman (love him) and Peter Boyle, not to mention the rest of the cast. ABSOLUTELY PRICELESS 💯
Donald Sutherland never disappoints
Was just thinking the same thing...a real professional and unique
I don't know why most of the novel's readers and viewers of the movies adapted from the work of Mary Shelley would put this story in this genre--horror? On the contrary, it has inspired me to think deeply about life since I read the novel 40-plus years ago. Glad to watch this wonderful movie again. Thank you so much.
I agree with you.
I feel sorry for that man that Frankenstein brought back to life. He was living but was shunned and was starving, along with being disabled.
Me too, after I first read the book I thought Dr Frankenstein was the real monster in the story, and you see it in this movie as well. He brings what's basically a blank slate to life then he just runs away from him - leaving him in s very hard cruel world he doesn't understand (and who doesn't understood him either). Then as soon as Frankenstein is back on his feet he decides he'll find him and "erase" any trace of what he did - so kill him - he had way too much pride.
My favorite "Monster" movie. The monster was the Dr. of course. So many lessons to be learned. So fictional but not really, especially now. Love the story like no other. Moby Dick can compare.
An excellent movie with powerful messages that hold true today.
Mary Shelley is the Grandmother of Dystopian fiction. For someone who was very curious about the scientific discoveries but never practiced any scientific discipline, her name is mentioned in any subject to with science.
Not bad for a women of 22 years old.
BORIS KARLOFF,
The Mummy.
KARLOFF,
Frankenstein and The Bride of Frankenstein.
CHARLES LAUGHTON, Island of Lost Souls.
ROBERT DE NIRO,
Frankenstein - surprisingly good.
Man, there are so many from the Silent Era that are Great and nobody knows them, anymore.

frankenstein is a great movie
Well done with two legend actors! I always feel bad for the monster until he harmed children
Even with this I am with Frankenstein's son because Victor created him and then abandoned him in fear of what he created....
The world is full of evil and wrath as well as love and hope and kindness... But just like God abandoned his children so did Victor abandoned his own child ....
Therefore I am with the child because he just treated the world in the same evil way they treated him ... He was a child once again and look at that ... They treated him with evil
@@mattdragoneed6476 The Lord, NEVER abandon us. He speaks to us through the Church. And He do it every single day. I'm sorry, but I'm fear which Frankenstein is a mason-satanist book. You can see the picture especially in the last speach of the monster.
The only mistake they made in this period piece was Elizabeth wearing purple. It was against the law for anyone to wear purple except royalty, fact. Enjoyed this rendition of Mary Shelly's work.
It comes as some surprise to me that the ( Catholic ) Clergy were not permitted to wear purple.
By the beginning of the 1800s, when the story takes place, the sumptuary laws forbidding the wearing of purple had already been abolished.
@@xshiromorixCorrect! The ban against purple was lifted before the year 1600.💙
The story was written in the early 1800's. Nobody wore anything purple except royalty/the very wealthy because the dye was very expensive until the mid 1800's when somebody invented a chemical process to create similar shades.
@@user-tg4sm3hd7r But it's not set in the 1800's.
People who were allowed to wear the color purple during the Elizabethan era, as decreed by the English Sumptuary Laws, were the Queen, Queen's mother, children, and sisters, and aunts. The King, King's mother, children, brethren, and uncles.
The Meaning of the color Purple
The color and material used in Elizabethan Clothing was extremely important. People who could wear the color Purple was dictated by English Law. These were called the Sumptuary Laws. The colors of Elizabethan clothes, including the color Purple, provided information about the status of the man or woman wearing them. This was not just dictated by the wealth of the person, it also reflected their social standing. The meaning of colors during the Elizabethan era represented many aspects of their life - the social, religious, biblical and Christian symbolism was reflected in the color Purple.
What amazing casts and I enjoy any with Luke Goss in. Such amazing actor and very handsome too 🥰🥰🥰🥰

OOOH! Love Donald Sutherland! This looks worth a watch on a rainy day!
These old monster movies are amazing. To think that "The Mummy" is the leader of the free world. Just amazing!!!
This is so creative, to make the MONSTER have a heart, soul, and thirsting intellect! Kudus to the creators of this version of an old, and very thoughtful story! Would that the people in power over our fates, ie., politicians, had even one ounce of this creatures truth!!! Db
Exquisite photography, superb acting, and the best Frankenstein film I've seen yet!! Thank you Popcornflix , I'm a new subscriber!! Looking forward to Part 2. Bless you!!!😍
I WISH HOLLYWOOD MAKES A REPEAT OF THIS VERSION. THE CLOSEST EVER TO MARY SHELLEY'S CLASSIC NOVEL 'FRANKENSTEIN'.
Thanks for the nice words. And until they do such a remake, you've always got this version to revisit.
@@Popcornflix I guess there are some areas in the world of science that you should. LWEA
I'm surprised somebody who read Frankenstein back when it as written didn't come up with the idea of the defibrillator. The average person couldn't read in 1818 it was the preserve or teachers, clergy, doctors and scientists. If you did you'd probably need it after you were hung for which craft or heresy, needless to say useless if you were burnt at the stake or got your head chopped off. Great film thanks.
Well the idea of electric wasn’t in the book. Also very early defibrillator did exists back then.
People weren't being executed for witchcraft by the early 19th century, that practice died out gradually once the Enlightenment began. But you're right that the peasant classes were mostly illiterate at that time.
I have seen at least THREE Frankenstein movies...
There was one that made three people come back to life. He thought the more he did it, the better it would get.
However, I must say this is the best version and it was free on CZcams.
Thanks for the nice words!

I believe it was called "The wiggling stone" an old movie possibly black and white. I cannot find it anywhere. The black stone, which wiggled like jello, when touched would force your hand to touch your face and turn your face old. That is all I can remember.
Don't know the name of the movie but I think my ex found the stone. 😆
Read the book. It`s short and amazingly beautiful, containing so much love.
Yes! This is a book about tragic love.

And a flux capacitor.

How?

He just said a very key thing right there. Wanting to unravel and understand the mysteries of man's soul. I believe that's what this whole experiment with "life" is about for them. Well that and other things as well. But that line right there says a LOT..

the best adaptation of the novel
Thanks for the great comment!
A movie called "dead birds" is an underrated flick from early 2000s ... A spooky jumpscare piece set in the civil war days about bank robbers hinding in an old farm house ...its raw and the victems are hardened boys with guns vs babysitter types...with a demon religous vibe
Is it here? Link please.
Damm! Hallmark actually make a good, quality movie.
My only complaint is the Monster isn't even that ugly. I know they're being all faithful to the novel but some more creative kills would've been cool too.
Thing is, Mary Shelley described the monster as both beautiful and terrifying. Him being a big gothic deathly pale man lined up with her descriptions.
This is the greatest Mary Shelley's Frankenstein 1994 remake ever🧟♂⚡👍👍👍
Lotta good talent in this one!

A very sad story about Frankenstein the "monster."
Yes, the "monster" was also Frankenstein, he being the doctors' creation or, son.
In the James Whale Karloff’s Frankenstein, there’s a scene where the creature is getting over excited and Victor says “take care Herr Frankenstein” to Karloff…

Best adaptation of the book by far but i wish the monster looked more horryfying. In this movie its almost hard to understand why people are scared of him. Hes supposed to be a innocent soul trapped in the most horryfying abomination possible. Yet here hes just a pale guy with some scars.
Thanks for the movie!
