Waris is a Pakistani television series produced by PTV, written by Amjad Islam Amjad and directed by Ghazanfer Ali and Nusrat Thakur.
The first episode aired on Saturday, December 29, 1979 on PTV-Lahore, and the final episode aired on March 22, 1980 to great acclaim. The play has 13 episodes in the form of a traditional PTV series; each episode lasts nearly an hour.
Chaudhry Hashmat was a Pakistani feudal lord (zamindar) who ruled his fief of Sikandarpur with an iron fist. Together with his son Chaudhry Yaqub and two grandsons Chaudhry Anwar Ali and Chaudhry Niaz Ali (sons of his late son Chaudhry Ghulam Ali), he worked hard to secure his land (Sikanderpur), the site of the proposed dam .

Zohra's marriage to Fateh Sher caused a quarrel in the village and they had to flee for their lives. After moving to Sikandapur, they started a new life and Fateh Sher had a new identity.
