    I bought the m4 2024 version and they updated the machine and fixed few problems, I'm loving it 🎉

    Thanks for doing this review, really good job!
    I am interested in the Mikolo M4 Smith Machine but have some questions about it:
    1. What are the usable interior dimensions of the rack space between the inner edges of the crossmembers/uprights?
    2. What are the dimensions of the rear support feet sticking out the back of the rack on the floor?
    3. What is the highest height from the ground the smith bar can reach? What is the lowest it can reach with and without the safety stopper installed?
    4. Does the cable system support 1" plates with a removable sleeve like the storage pins or only 2" olympic plates?
    5. Can you flip the pull up bar upside down to save vertical space? Does this interfere with the smith machine or any other aspects?
    6. How long are the smith bar sleeves for loading plates on each side?
    7. Can the outer free weight safety catches withstand a 300lb or 400lb bar being dropped a short distance (under 1ft) onto it?
    8. What is the realistic weight capacity of the J-Cups with someone bringing down the bar and trying to rack it? Not just the static load weight capacity.
    Sorry for all the questions just trying to get a full understanding of the machine and if it will work for my usage and space!
    Thanks!

      I've sold the machine so will not be able to answer these questions. Hopefully someone else can. You may also have some luck asking the manufacturer.

      @@HaiTran Appreciate the response, I have tried reaching out to Mikolo directly but either don't get a response or I think there's some misunderstanding or translation issues as they don't answer the questions I'm asking directly. I think it's because these are little more detailed and specific than usual so it's been hard to get the exact information I need.
      I am a little curious though as to what drove you to sell it? It seems like it would cover just about everything anyone would need in a home gym in a compact space for a great price but did it not work for a specific usage you had?

    @hai tran is the height accurate as they advertise on 82.7"? My ceiling is 84" and think if I can mount the pull up bar upside down?

    • @HaiTran
      @HaiTran  Před rokem +1

      I measured my M4 and the highest point of the pull up bar is about 87". It looks like you can flip the pull up bar upside down but that's just a theory. However, if it is possible, I measured the next highest point at just under 83" so that advertised 82.7" is likely correct.

    Stability? Sturdiness? Some similar ones I've used appeared to shake and sway a bit.

    • @HaiTran
      @HaiTran  Před 6 měsíci

      It’s sturdy enough for any reasonable person not trying to do something crazy considering the price and specs. Most gym equipment will shake to a degree unless you buy something pretty heavy and bolt it down.

    • @jaredolivier8280
      @jaredolivier8280 Před 5 měsíci

      The heaviest part of the machine itself is the guide rods for the barbell. The rest of it is relatively lightweight. With a minimum amount of bumper plates I would imagine there would be some movement in the machine but I doubled up on plates and the extra weight really keeps it still. Like @HaiTran stated it’s great for the average enthusiast but may not hold up as well to bodybuilder type training. I love the versatility and even though it’s not perfect it is a great value and gets the job done.

    Do you think the cables go long enough for someone that has longer arms and needs a long stretch with cable excercises ?

    • @HaiTran
      @HaiTran  Před 6 měsíci

      I have no way of verifying that but a general option would be to sit down or go on your knees while using the cables.

  • @southbay121

    I purchased the M7 and I am disappointed with it. First it came missing 10 parts, most of the parts are scratched, 2 are dented, but the most troubling issue is both middle risers have surface rust on the inside. Anyone have a solution for the rust?

    • @HaiTran
      @HaiTran  Před měsícem

      Rust is treated the same way for just about anything. Scrub it off then seal the area back up.

    • @southbay121
      @southbay121 Před měsícem

      @@HaiTran I know, but how do you do that on the middle risers that are enclosed and 6 feet long?

    • @HaiTran
      @HaiTran  Před měsícem

      You'll have to get creative with that. Time to look for some long ass wire brush on a stick.

    do you think the nylon pulleys could be switched out for aluminum pulleys? which could make the cable systems smoother.

    • @HaiTran
      @HaiTran  Před rokem

      Theoretically, yes, the pulleys can be changed out if you find something that fits.

  • @quincy189

    is there safety on the smith machine and can you adjust the height? or the only way to stop it is to turn the bar so it hooks on one of the pins

    • @HaiTran

      There is a height adjustable safety for the smith function.

    can you switch out their olympic bar for one of your own? Also can this fit 1inch weights or is it olympic only? Is there a way to take off the 2inch weight holders and is there a 1inch underneath?

    • @HaiTran
      @HaiTran  Před rokem

      You cannot change the bar unless you find a welder to make some custom brackets for you. It's olympic weights only. It's 2" weight holders only.

Its similar in price to this I am debating between the two I just dont like now the mikolo has those red parts and it looks like it doesn't have a spring for the safety spots. Like I said in the video, it’ll hold up to logical weights. If you’re pulling 400/500+ lbs, not sure why you’d want to pull it from a smith machine.
