Remember when he made Yuji forget a very important vow just so he could get the edge in it? Also Yuji was able to communicate with Megumi in his soul, so no he isn’t a vegetable. Megumi was also bathed in evil at one point what ever that means lol, so Sukuna could just entice him or outright just tell him to do it since he already doesn’t give one about himself or anyone for that matter

A: It depends on what binding vow you're talking about and the context.
The binding vow that let him decrease the activation time for world slash has literally already bitten him on the ass. It's the reason why Yuta and yuji were able to do what they did against him and cut off his tongue and arms. Having another 2 steps to even fire it off made his next moves predictable which yuta even points out.
Furnace binding vow. - Literally made it so he has unable to target mutiple targets with furnace outside of his domain
Malevolent shrine's binding vow is the reason why todo is even able to save anyone from it. The fact that there is an escape route means that Todo can actually target his allies with boogie woogie to save them.
The binding vow to negate his slashes inside Gojo's barrier put him at risk of getting hit with Unlimited void.
furnace binding vow doesn't matter much. Fire arrow was too slow to use against multiple opponents outside domain anyways, it would get interrupted.
i don't see how malovelent shrine vow aided Todo . He could swap them with or without it .
@@keerthan7558 we don't know. If Sukuna enclosed his Malevolent Shrine with a barrier like other domains maybe Todo wouldn't have been able to teleport them out. And if Sukuna knew about Todos involvement he probably would have done what Gojo did switching the conditions of his barrier to make it durable against attacks from the outside.

But if sukuna can fire off a World dismantle while fighting 4 people and angel doing his technique, the arrow would have killed them all at that close range. So the cast is not much trouble since he can't use his arrow.

@@keerthan7558Todo wouldn't be able to swap with anyone inside of a closed barrier domain because it is a separate spsce of which only those like Maki who exist WITHOUT cursed energy can pass through. Todo would need to sense the cursed energy within the barrier and then apply his cursed energy to the target. And we've seen through previous uses of regular barriers that cursed energy can't be sensed

Since Todo came back I can't help to think that Nobara will also return now. We do know that they want to keep quite about thier plans to Yuji. So maybe Nobara have been alive this whole time to have her as a secret weapon since Sukunas limbs are scattered around Shinjuku. This would invite Nobara to use her strawdoll technique or resonance which would directly target Sukunas soul and make him lose more control over Megumi her and Yuji are the perfect counter to Sukuna. What are your thoughts on this?

Hnilsson thank you so much for the support and the kind words! I defintiley think a Nobara return is on the table, but I could see it going either way. Todo coming back is definitely a notch in the W column as far as its concerned though. And if Nobara does come back, I absolutely see Strawdoll/Resoance playing a role, I think it would even be poetic if she had to use it on Yuji to finally take out Sukuna. (Either because hes back in Yuji, or because they have soul resoance with each other.)

(I hate to be some random person adding to this but I wanted to add this in) if Nobara really does come back and they do manage to free Megumi, from what Gege Akutami said about the ending either being 1 dies or 1 lives, this could result in the 1 dies ending where Gojo dies and the three of them living, and by whatever is going on in chapter 261 I’d say that if Nobara does come back then Gojo dying and the three surviving is a likely ending, or Nobara helps out and then dies. (I don’t know why, but I feel very guilty for typing this out).
Plot twist. He was offering Fushiguro’s body and soul piece by piece for every binding vow he does. So he will just do another binding vow to undo all the restrictions from prev binding vow then offer Fushiguros everything. EZ PZ.

As the only binding vows that are dangerous to him being the one with Kenjaku, who is still ongoing, and the "Enchain" vow with Yuji, who was completed with the bodyswap, I cant see a way of that becoming a problem.
All the others are self induced ones that can be seen as additional wheels by a bicicle. Sukuna has the abbility to drive but with extra wheels he can do stunts and if he loses them he simply returns to drive normaly on the road.
I think Yuji's domain is going to utilize Blood Manipulation, which would be the first of its kind. I think it will operate similar to Unohana's Bankai, where she uses blood to attack and heal simultaneously and it covers a big area i.e. a Domain Expansion. It also kinda goes with the fact that Bleach is Gege's favorite manga/anime, so incorporating something from Bleach to JJK would pay respect to his favorite Manga.
I've come up with the theory that Yuji's shrine cuts will be surgeon base because his favorite movies are surgeon horrors similar to human centipede and blood manipulation gives him knowledge of how the human body works.

5:09 Yeah he probably still figuring out about how the 10s technique and Mahoraga works in shibuya, but the thing is he later said that Mahoraga has a similar mechanism just like a yamato no orochi or something like that. Maki's sister told her that if she's sacrificing her life, Maki better delete EVERYONE. She did it not just out of "had enoughness" it was a sentimental and vengeful duty to her sister, their pain and her sacrifice. She did it for strong meaningful reasons it wasn't just cause she felt like it.
I’ve commented a bit on this topic, so maybe I’ll try a prediction this time around. I think Sukuna’s vows are going to play into his undoing and already are, little by little. Every vow has been a condition on his techniques that make them more immediately useful but trades the potential and natural utility. Furnace/oven is hyperspecific in application but it wouldn’t be surprising if cleave and dismantle are also the result of vow specializations and now bound more as Sukuna adapts to the fight. In a sense, he can’t break any of these niche vows or the penalty could lose him the fight when someone takes advantage of any opening it creates.
The best person to bring this up is Hakari. His gambling motif is perfect for describing the risk of reckless behavior with a domain similarly premised on hyperspecific rules for gains. We haven’t seen the fight with Uraume but wouldn’t that be the best cutaway? Fans would be up in arms that we are taken from the action only for Hakari to be the exposition of Sukuna’s undoing.

Perhaps there wasn’t a living 10s or limitless user during Sukuna’s prime in the Heian Era. That could be why he didn’t have as much knowledge or experience on the subjects. It’s possible he may have heard about it and didn’t care since no one was wielding those powers actively against him. If I remember correctly it can sometimes take hundreds of years before another user of a hereditary technique like 10s or 6 eyes to show up after one dies.

Its quite interesting how the story has expressed that Sukuna has been mostly messing around since his fight with Gojo; yet hes constructed a lot of binding vows. I feel like for someone as prideful as Sukuna he wouldn't resort to them unless he was going to lose? Though I guess since they in theory lack a permanence due to being able to be broken/removed maybe it would be treated as a necessity for adaptation.

Yes Enel can face through all attacks of Kashimo, however Kashimo is also effectively immune to anyone's opposing lightning attacks as shown from Sukuna's Cursed Weapon, so he would take little to no damage.
On top of it Kashimo is pretty smart and would try stuff non-stop via imitating all phenomena until he hits the jackpot.

The parallel between gojo and sukuna is incredible. This is simply demonstrated by Sukuna's display of his technique being very simple/disconnected from the usual growth and evolutions of techniques. Instead he employs the unadulterated wickedness of binding vows. His identity and his power is all formed by the natural laws of cursed energy. The negativity and depravity that is cursed emotion. Since birth Sukuna followed that path and what lays waste in said path is the epitome of cursed energy, destruction and chaos(which has far more poetic parallels with humanity and the universe). Gojo is the counterbalance, the light to sukuna's dark. Even being displayed by his existence shifting the equilibrium of the universe in which an insurgence of cursed energy/darkness appeared in response to the arrival of an overbearing light. Gojo is in a way "tainted"; Gojo bound by his love and affection/positivity is distanced from the nature that is cursed energy. Only growing/is 'awakened' or 'shown to the darkness' when he is forced into scenarios that possess the highest concentration/heart of cursed energy: near death scenarios which is an instance and event that is the root of cursed energy and the root/impetus of life.
This further is paralleled by Yuji and Mahito. This all derives from the abstraction that is morality. The strength and fervor of selfish indulgence vs. cooperative indulgence. This ties back to Mahito being the mirror to humanity, the bombshell/eye-opener to the intrinsic nature of life which yuji witnesses. He can't naively choose when to die or to be a hero, he simply is a cog in the machine. A component in nature that follows fate and simply does what's necessary to persist. Morality is but the construct that guides our actions towards self-perseverance. Mahito's sustenance is Cursed emotions just like Sukuna and Yuji's sustenance is Blessed emotions just like Gojo. At the end of the day it's a struggle and battle of survival. A cycle that is depicted in even the most niche scenarios of nature and the universe itself. Gege is an incredible writer.

From my observation, no binding vows have been shown to be broken or temporary in the series. I’m pretty sure binding vows are permanent changes to your curse energy/technique usage, at least when made with oneself. It’s a reallocation, as opposed to a deal when made between two people, in which it can be broken with severe consequences

I don't think you can really break a personal binding Vow. I think it's more like a permanent change. For example, if Sukuna tries to do world slash without chants, it probably just won't work instead of it being a divine punishment or something.

Self binding vows don’t seem like they can be broken. It’s just restricting that person to gain something else. Example, Sukuna not being able to use the fire arrow on multiple people or having to use hand sign + chant + using another hand to point the direction for a world cutting dismantle. Those things are set in stone. It is impossible for him to go back on it and use the original technique without the restrictions if he wanted to.
On the other hand, a binding vow with someone else is like a promise. Promises can be broken.
Self imposed binding vows are a restriction but they can be broken bu the only thing you lose is the benefit you got which will then be retracted. Depending on the vow, some can be permanent because of the specifics eg world slash but some can have nothing to em like nanamis, if he broke his vow all he'd lose is the ce that he put to the side for after overtime.

@@Owen-sx4jj I think you missed my point. Sukuna CAN’T break that vow. He simple can’t cast world cutting dismantle without those additional requirements. Literally says that in the manga. Hence why the slash that cut Yuta in Yuta’s DE was not a world cutting slash because Sukuna could not meet those specific requirements he set (needing 3 hands in total - 2 to make the hand signs and 1 to point the direction). Same with the fire arrow, how he simply could NOT use it against multiple people unless it’s within a DE.
@@bidbads6584 It can’t. That’s what the other guy above doesn’t understand. All the self binding vows Sukuna has used up to this point can’t be broken. He forces additional steps to active a technique. If he tries to use a technique before the binding vow was set in place, it won’t activate.

For example; a binding vow made w oneself is considered less severe than vows made w other party(s).

Obviously the more complex and beneficial the vow in the moment you make it, the more dire the consequences from breaking them are.
For example; if Miwa broke her vow to never use a sword.
She may have to pay with never walking or using her hands ever again or maybe absolutely tank her cursed energy. Cripple her in one way or another.

Sukuna can’t break the binding vow on his world slash because there would be no way to lose the benefit he got from the vow. The benefit was just a one time thing against gojo, but now that is in the past.

I don't really know if someone asked you this before but, If Sukuna and Yuji are connected and for this reason they decided not to reveal the plan to Yuji so that Sukuna wouldn't find out... why does Sukuna ask Yuta and Yuji "How did you get so strong in just a month"? *Isn't Sukuna supposed to already know based on that connection between them?*
