Good to know you had a great experience There are quite a number of misconceptions about the catholic church which Pastor T mentioned need to be clarified. It was Christ's prayer that we be united and not divided (John 17:21). Church dogma are beliefs which you must believe to be a Christian. These include the Trinity, Resurrection, 10 commandments, Virgin birth etc. basically what is in the bible.
Doctrine are non-negotiable teachings by the church e.g. opposition to abortion, death penalty etc. One cannot quote the verse but came about as a consensus by the church, and embody the spirit of christianity. Consensus has been there since the early church e.g when apostles ruled on circumcision, and meeting to commemorate Christ's resurrection, and on the day that he appeared to them (Sundays as opposed to Saturday). Tradition is a necessary component of Christianity (2 Thessalonians 2:15). The bible as we know it was compiled in the 4th century. Before that, what were Christians using as a guide if not tradition? Even the books to be included bible, while inspired, were a result of consensus. Letters by Clement (mentioned by Paul in Philippians 4:3-9) were left out of the compilation. Every Church has tradition outside scripture, just that the Catholic Church has been around longer. If you doubt this, ask yourself why we have a white Christian wedding or specific burial rites, keshas, etc
As for the Holy Eucharist Catholics take it literally as a direct command from Jesus, considering he repeated it several times (John 6:51-59), (Luke 22:19 ), to the point of upsetting the Jews (John 6:52) who considered it an abomination to eat any flesh with blood, let alone human flesh. Some of his followers left him (John 6:66). Other practices such as the Hail Mary are direct quotes ; "Luke 1:28/41/42" in fulfillment of the scriptures.
