Lyrics:
If it be your will*
That I speak no more
And my voice be still
As it was before
I will speak no more
I shall abide until
I am spoken for
If it be your will
If it be your will
That a voice be true
From this broken hill
I will sing to you
From this broken hill
All your praises they shall ring
If it be your will
To let me sing
If it be your will
If there is a choice
Let the rivers fill
Let the hills rejoice
Let your mercy spill
On all these burning hearts in hell
If it be your will
To make us well
And draw us near
Oh bide us tight
All your children here
In their rags of light
In our rags of light
All dressed to kill
And end this night
If it be your will - Hudba
I have a heart condition and awaiting surgery. I am picking songs for my funeral if things don't turn out well. This is on my list.😢
It would be angels taking you to your rest bro. Good choice, God forbidd
Im in the same place, you are not alone bro
I'm not a "bro" though
Well, you're welcome anyways 😅
@@user-jx3pv3yo1w why is that funny, it's not funny at all
I heard him first when I was only 16. He changed my life. I will be 70 soon, and still love his words, his music and his heart.
I was 16 an mow 66. His music and voice still moves me.
Exactly my life, 70y now and I see Len more than 20 x.
Me too, I'm 70🎉 but he touches so many younger people too! I always loved how he introduced everyone in the show! R.I.P. Leonard I still can listen for hours ❤
That only proves the Greatness of Leonard's lyrics and music Janice.... same for me....❤🙏
It' similar with me, I was 16 when I saw him 1st time in concert. Now I'm 57 and he accompanied me through my live. No other songwriter is so close to my heart, I love his vice, his poem.
I'm 75 and ashamed to say I only discovered this wonderful man five years ago.His music his words touch my inner spirituality like no other.Thankyou.x
Looking for Leonard Cohen and Judy Collins, you gonna love that, I have been listening he's music for 20 years, every night and the weekend's, I Love this so much
A broken man, with a broken heart speaking from his broken heart, in a broken voice. Haunting and sublime. I was lucky enough to attend a live concert, graced with his presence. One of the most memorable experience of my life. Thank you for giving us all those beautiful songs. RIP Mr. Cohen, hope that one day I"ll join you and be in your presence again !
I saw them in Chicago during his last tour. It was gracious.
👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
In my opinion Leonard Cohen was very far from from "a broken man, with a broken heart speaking from his broken heart in his broken voice". In this clip he was just an older man quoting the introductory words of his song Let it be your Will that he regards as a prayer, prior to handing over to the Webb sisters to sing.
Leonard Cohen since his emergence in the 1960s has always been a comptemplative, reflective singer and an excellent lyricist songwriter.
I first met Leonard Cohen when I was 16...Now, I'm 60...I still love his songs.
Beautiful thoughts. Me too. May the Master rest well in the Great Beyond...
My sister loved Cohen, and she loved to dance to his songs..11 years ago she lost her battle to leucemia. She would be 60 today..😢
❤️❤️🌹
The Webb Sisters - the voices of angels.
yes ... angels in every sense!
The Webb sisters have the voices of Angels. I love the sound of the Irish harp. And Leonard Cohen too. Musical perfection.
Keeps dropping my comments. I shall speak no more. Sir Leonard sings it all. He was The Poet of our generation. So grateful our current youth hear Him.
My feeling is that if someone doesn’t get Leonard they are missing something in their soul.
My best friend died on March 17th. I love this holiday. Unfortunately I am missing him and My Dad still.
I can not understand people that do not appreciate his gifts!
I missed Leonard or maybe I wasn’t ready to receive. I fell into his music through Hallelujah which I listen to every artist that sang the song when I heard the writer of that song died . I decided to goggle this man. Iwas amazed and continue to be enthralled by his authenticity, his unique voice and his magical lyrics. I am in my mid -70’s And will enjoy swimming in his voice and lyrics. What a gift he is.
I owned his first album. Then lost track, only to rediscover him thru the Live in London concert decades later. Had no idea I had missed all that, in my mid 70’s and grateful I didn’t lose track forever.
Better late than never I guess you’ve got a lot of catching up to do
A close friend showed me this today... now I am listening to it and tears are rolling... Love you, Bettsi.
Tears of sadness. Tears of Joy. Beautiful music. Beautiful friend.
me too
3 great poets and singers I missed live : Freddie Mercury for the party, Pavarotti for the beauty and you Leonard Cohen for the truth, but you’ll always be close to my heart, deep inside it, flowing with this erratic wounded blood ❤
John Denver for all of them.
Im an atheist and still I burst into tears listeing to this song.
So maybe you're really a fallen atheist, Mehrshad.
I come here after watching From S01E03. To listen to this wonderful voices and try to understand the lyrics.
Leonard Cohen himself said it was a Prayer. I would hazard to argue, inspired by the Poetic Psalms of David the Shepherd, Warrior King of Israel.
Oh my God ya that's how I came across Leonard Cohen, same episode!😃 what a gem!
Saw him in concert twice in 2009. Was fortunate to hear this song in person. I still miss him and cry for him......he can break your heart beautifully.
My heart aches for all those who never discovered Leonard Cohen either on purpose or accidentally. My heart aches to know that years from now someone will hear this song in its entirety and ask who was Leonard Cohen... how can you explain the raw honesty and complexity that was Leonard Cohen??? Another shooting star to split the sky in my lifetime and leave too soon.. I love you... Leonard Cohen .. thank you
So beautiful your words!
David Cohen, stage name David Blue(no relation)wrote a song dedicated to Leonard,"The Troubador Song" .Thankfully,I have found this beautiful song whilst still on the earth plane.
A true poet.
This was the late, great Christopher Hitchens inspiration as he lay dying.R.I.P. Hitch.
I have been listening to him for the last 38 years..so many memories...there never be one like him...
No words known to Mankind can ever do this justice, may the Beauty of Poetry go on forever..and further beyond
Well, psalms do a good job. David Melech played the harp and heart strings too
If someone can make God's voice audible to us, it is Mr Cohen.
This man makes my heart hurt and my mind just go. His music is like a powerful drug that just brings you in and won't turn you loose.
So well stated.
I entirely agree with you, i love this sntence.
Same here 😇
Tears fall Down w my face each time I hear this Magnificent song! Praise the MOST HIGH FATHER IN HEAVEN IN THE HOLY BLESSED NAME OF JESUS CHRIST!
The Webb Sisters are incredible and to be handed this song with their voices. A privilege to listen.
Yves, It is what it is! If unable to attend we will just stay at home and be quiet and nice...whatever works WILL work for us..Do not give it another thought! All will be well no matter what..You are home RELAX and rest....No expectations here!!
I am here because I heard this song in the 3rd episode of FROM.
It is beautiful.

My biggest regret: never been at your concert. You saved my heart many many times, you pointed me the light in every darkness. Thank you forever. Sara
Same here 😊 🙏
Don't worry, Brother Leonard is with God and God is always here & now.....
Thanks for everything Leonard.....
Duty nobly done.

We are all on our way HOME.

🔯I was in the foutunate situation that i could afford to hear and see him live.
🎼it was great to be there with so many who adored his as much is I did.
🌹Know that he greatfully saved your live.
🙏🏻 Always come back to his music when you need him
@@chinekevantil6308 i agree that it's so good to be with so many people. Bless you all
I too havent seen a concert of mr. Leonard Cohen
I had the great fortune to attend the Leonard Cohen concert in Durham in November, 2009. The sublime Webb Sisters’ rendition of this song is the most beautiful sound I have ever heard in my life.
I came back to this song after listening to one of Leonard Cohen's last interviews in which he said that he never considered himself a religious man or really had any spiritual strategy. Ironic then that so many of his songs, especially this one, are bridges between the mundane and the divine.
Well said
When you use the word mundane I get a sense of the scale of your observation
of this earthly world rather than a heavenly or spiritual one.
"the boundaries of the mundane world"
Leonard was Pure Gold....an angel of true love and kindness.. R.I.P..
If It Be Your Will
[Leonard Cohen]
If it be your will
That I speak no more
And my voice be still
As it was before
I will speak no more
I shall abide until
I am spoken for
If it be your will
If it be your will
That a voice be true
From this broken hill
I will sing to you
From this broken hill
All your praises they shall ring
If it be your will
To let me sing
If it be your will
If there is a choice
Let the rivers fill
Let the hills rejoice
Let your mercy spill
On all these burning hearts in hell
If it be your will
To make us well
And draw us near
And bind us tight
All your children here
In their rags of light
In our rags of light
All dressed to kill
And end this night
If it be your will
If it be your will.
The Only God who hears that prayer is the One who will not allow a voice to speak that will not be true. I have been silenced, but I will speak again.
When I was at the lowest point in my life in the early 80's Leonard Cohen's music and poetry got me through it , he will always have a place in my heart.❤❤
I was SO blessed to see the incomparable Mr. Cohen along with the divine Webb Sisters. A night I will never forget.
We too were there - for which we are forever thankful . Sleep content, Leonard
Me too. I have seen a lot of concerts of many great masters in my life, but I feel blessed and lucky to have the chance to see this. I think it's the best I've ever seen
A BLESSED SINGER/POET
Me too
I saw them too...it was a ceremony!
Leonard Cohen. There's nothing I can say to elevate him more; he's top. Webb Sisters, brilliant (performing near me soon, so I'll be there).
(From) brought me here ❤️Amen
I don't remember how and when I got introduced to Leonard Cohen but I am deeply grateful to the time, to the moment for this privilege. I wish I become even half a man Leonard Cohen was.
If you appreciate Leonard, you are already blessed by God. I only recently discovered Mr Cohen and I have come to love him and what he gave us. RIP, Mr. Cohen. Thank you, Lord for Leonard.
This song moves me to tears, every single time.
Fortunate to attend the concert of LC in the Wang Center in Boston in '09. Actually, it was much much more than a concert. It felt like a beautiful religious ceremony. To say it was remarkable would be an incredibly weak attempt. I absolutely loved the night and LC and the Webb sisters along with everyone on the stage that night provide rich tones and color to the already profound words of an absolute master of pen to paper. I knew that I was fortunate to attend such a magical night. Every time I hear Leonard Cohen I am reminded of the fact. RIP Mr. Cohen. I hope that I am good enough good graces that I will be able to confide to you how much you mean to me. If I get in, I will look for you.
The series "From" has some very good songs and this one is one of them!
What a beautiful discovery I just made, I'm just sad not to have make it much earlier.
I'm your brother from another mother still mourning such a loss to the world ❤
Was lucky enough to see him twice before we lost him. Sad day in my life. RIP One of the greatest songwriters ever
My little pup is dying. I've been listening to this song to give me hope and courage.
'The sublime Webb sisters.'
Leonard Cohen, from introduction of band members during this concert.
And indeed, they are sublime.
Met him once on the street in Dublin, was amazed by his knowledge and oblivious love of Irish music.
I’m speechless. This was my last years prayer. Leonard Cohen is my favourite poet, musician and today after my prayers harps pop up on my recommended lists. 2xs this song.
Few years back, preparing for a surgery where I didn’t know I would wake up from, I listened to this song on my iPod as I went through the pre surgery ritual. I would have been perfectly content if this had been the last song my ears had heard.
So glad you made it through safely. Rog. Pacific sunset records.
Be still and know that I am here
Leonard had THE best musicians in his band
This is one of the most beautiful songs I ever heard. It brought tears to my eyes.
I remember as a kid a vinyl of Leonard Cohen playing often in my parents house… now, every evening I play myself one of his songs to my unborn child
One of the most beautiful, yet haunting songs ever. Get chills every time.
Gaaf
I feel a great intensity when I listen to this song. Thanks a lot from Germany!
This cannot be allowed to pass by without comment; "if it be your will" that an accolade can be made from our "rags of light".
I was so blessed to see Leonard Cohen in concert twice but sadly I only discovered this If It Be Your Will in 2021 - it’s never too late of course! He was a poet: he was a singer and musician and a true gentleman. The respect he showed to all of the musicians and vocalists who performed on stage with him was unreal. I’ll never forget him. My husband who never knew his music also loved his concert.
I was fortunate to see two of these concerts. It was a spiritual experience, cultivating emotions one will never ever forget. Such was his voice, their music and presence. One of a kind.
I had the honour to see him many times in concert ♥️
A true gentleman, musician , songwriter, poet & storyteller! There will be no one ever like him 🫶🏼
To hear the Webb sisters sing this at his concert 🎶 is a sound I’ll never ever forget ♥️
The show From brought me to this very touching place… this isn’t just a song, truly it’s a prayer
He has been used to deliver Gods message to those who seek His face and especially touching those who needs comfort and healing on their timely discovery of LC songs
Ok, who just heard this song on the tv show called From on EPIX? It"s so beautiful. I want this song played at my funeral.
My mother used to listen to this song fairly often in my childhood and it randomly came to my mind today. I'm so happy I found this masterpiece, I can't even out the feelings of nostalgia into words... have a blessed day everyone
One of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard.
Sublime
I cycled to Vienna from deep in Eastern Europe in the Summer of 2015 to escape the calamity of a cherished long-term relationship in its death throes. We arrived filthy and haggard. I so desperately wanted to bump into Leonard at a fountain, a square, a concert hall. I saw his face everywhere. I wanted to look him in the eye and thank him for the beautiful words he bestowed to us all throughout his career. A nice dream. Alas, all I found was a lobby with nine hundred windows and a tree where the doves go to die.
Beautifully said
Beautiful. I hope you came out of that calamity unscathed.
Beautifully poetic my friend
This has to be the best comment ever
Seen him twice, here in my home town of Manchester, UK 🇬🇧 so lucky and very thankful 🙏..
I cannot believe I lived so many years and survived without Leonard Cohen's beautiful emotional unleashing music , lyrics , and life !
But it was better late than never !
Thank you Dear Leonard. May you rest in Peace !❤️
This is the first time I've heard this song. I wept from beginning to end. It so resonated with my heart! Thank you for this blessing.
I wept too.
This song opened my heat to my mother's passing this yr 9 months on finding it hard to release the sorrow.
@@jbuntine1255 My friend, the pain you are feeling is simply a measure of your love. Understand your pain in that context and it actually becomes a blessed thing. Praying God's Peace and Comfort for you.
Just heard his song tonight. You just know when something is special. From 1976 I was 11 years old and would of hated this back then, life is a journey.

Miss Leonard every day, fall asleep listening to Halleuigha . Such am amazing gift we were given to delight in and love.

Thank You Webb Sisters for being part of Leonard Cohens memories. Your voices are beautiful and I love the harping v
Precious, gifted man. ❤️ every song he has written.
He has been a huge influence on my life and through me on to my children but now I am facing the next stage of things and I reluctantly accept that death is going to be part of that. This is a perfect song for my time of life.
Pure genius Leonard Cohen. His songs resonates poetry .RIP you beautiful man
Angels singing a prayer from a desolate park. And you smile back at the fog yonder.
Absolutely The most beautiful harmony that I've ever heard. On replay for years now.
Amazing....these is something wonderful about the harmony achieved by siblings...the Everly Brothers of course were the best commercial example of this but it’s also with the Corrs, Kings of Leon, the Carter Family, the Osmonds, the Jackson’s etc.
But this performance by Charley and Hattie Webb of one of Leonard Cohen’s most beautiful songs is close to perfection....
The only similar standard I have heard is the Wailin' Jennys performing The Parting Glass.
@@tsb3093 both as good as each other. Can you imagine all four singing together. It would bring tears to my eyes. Rog. Pacific sunset records.
Please listen to David Gilmour and his daughter Romanys version. I’m sure you will love it.

Really can't understand the 152 dislikes of this wonderful version of Leonard's most touching songs!
2 years ago we had the covid. It is known to seriously affect your taste. That is probably the cause of the dislikes. I truly hope those people got well again.
Perfection....I cannot hear this too much. Between their exquisite harmony and Leonard Cohen's master words this is a masterpiece.
A Psalm, a hymn, a spiritual song. A King David song.
Yes, this is truly a psalm. It could very well be one out of the Book of Psalms By King David. The words of 'The Little Jew who wrote the bible:-)
This just came to me,if it be Your Will,You Tubed it and This beautiful Song ,

Cohen. Always beyond brilliant. Complete poetry.
The Webb Sisters singing and playing is sublime. There are very few songs that hit me in the feels like that. No better way to perform Cohen's beautiful poetry.
The greatest song ever composed. It makes me weep with shame.
So beautiful...so humbling...so holy.
As a kid I always did the “yeah” at the end of every chorus😊
I was 15 and transfixed by The. Wonderful Leonard Cohen. Thankyou for your rendition.😊
