    The shift knob is really slick. I like that idea a lot. One note for anyone who wants to do the PET braided wire loom, a good way to cut clean ends (like the factory cut) and prevent fraying completely is to cut it with a hot knife - that's typically what is recommended for that kind of loom. Burning the ends is definitely a good way to keep the fray from undoing the weave though.

      Like a specialized electric knife or heating a knife? I thought that doing that might close the end.

      @@DentedFenderGarage Electric knife - I think they have them for $20 or $30 at Harbor Freight, but they're also handy for cutting foam and other material.

    I owned a Suzuki Carry (Kei) for several years. I loved it. BUT on two occasions, about two years apart, the water pump failed. On the first occasion, this lead to a blown head gasket. On the second occasion, I was able to detect the blown pump before any engine damage was done. I recommend you keep an eye on this component. Better still, replace the water pump you already have as soon as you have some time and energy, if you don't know how old it is. Cheers mate. ✌

    For the chain on the bed you can use an old garden hose or engine water heater hose that autozone sells by the foot.

    • @DentedFenderGarage
      @DentedFenderGarage  Před 10 měsíci

      Water hose was too small and if you’ve been to Autozone lately their hose is $2 to $5 a foot. They’re ridiculous.

      If there is a hydraulic hose supply house near you , sometimes napa does it but anyway they have hose protector made of heavy duty nylon material , I think it would be perfect for tailgate chains

  • @zutedtv
    @zutedtv Před 7 měsíci +1

    For the chains on the tailgate, you should try the rubber that they use on swing sets in parks and etc. You can also get it in green to match your style. Awesome vids btw! keep them coming.

      @DentedFenderGarage  Před 7 měsíci +1

      They sell this wire loom in green, the reason I stayed away from the rubber stuff is that it makes the chain so stiff. Thank you!

      @@DentedFenderGarage that is true. They also fade over time. Good choice.

      Could try cutting down a bicycle tube or a cut down pieces of garden hose

    • @DentedFenderGarage
      @DentedFenderGarage  Před 6 měsíci +1

      @UserName-pg8cv garden hose isn’t flexible enough and a bicycle tube outside of the tire deteriorates quickly. Ask me how I know. 😂

    I'm digging the shifter mod. My 06 Tacoma needs this. It has a junk shift knob that is loose & does not have threads. Stock Toyota Tacoma parts are much more difficult to find than expected.

      I’ve probably made more shift knobs than I’ve bought. Sometimes you know what you need better than some random company. I hope you make something.

      I’ll be cleaning the bed and doing bed liner at some point. I already bought the spray in bed liner kit.

      When I made this video I had a Honda Ruckus scooter, a Puch Maxi moped, and a Yamaha QT50 no-ped in the shop. Since then I have sold the Puch but picked up half of another Ruckus for a project.
