Clicked for the old Volvo , stayed for the attention to detail and the thoroughness of the resto - I’m sure the old girl will pay you back with no trouble service for aslong as you keep her - respect - HNY 2024.
Wow, you brought a piece of history back to life there. I’ve owned 2 Volvo 245DL’s in my time and nowadays it’s rare to see a 240 on the road, let alone a 245/244. But a 145? I’d almost forgotten they existed! But that’s where the story began, for the legendary Volvo Estate (or Station Wagon as it’s called in the States.) Great job 👍👍👍
Volvo over the Mustang any day. That wagon is amazing! So clean.
If had to choose between the Mustang and Volvo, I would definitely keep the Volvo. It's a far more practical (...and looks like a brand new car). 😎
Absolutely! No comparison. Volvos work. 90 mph for hour after hour, and the back is long enough for a mattress when it finally wears you out...
The perfect amount of restoration and reparation on this one. A car that has weathered the storm tells the stories of love & use. Congratulations on reinstating it to service.
Wow, you took thirty years off of that Volvo!
Would definitely make for an excellent daily driver in it's current state. The fact it came with a brand new set of OEM replacement taillight lenses is a really welcome surprise, too.
I swear cars like this dont exist where I'm at. This is another great find and revamp.
Love this car. And I love that it still has its character and hasn’t been over restored or modified.
Wow! That wagon turned out amazing! Hard to believe it was all but abandoned.
That was fun to watch. When it comes to restoring old utilitarian faithful mules, I'm team "good enough". You did a good job putting it back in shape so it could transport bodies and goodies for a few decades more.
What an amazing transformation. I had a 71 144S, which was my introduction to Volvo. I miss that car. You have done a fantastic job on that old girl. 👍
Anyone here watch Salvage Rebuilds (UK) that time-lapse music. I almost had kittens when your boy grabbed the door handle to wind the windows down! Keep up the good work!
My dad left me a Volvo 244 DL l was 18 yrs old loved that car . You’ve done a great renovation of this classic Volvo and what a great colour
When I saw you buffing I already realized you'd be keeping it, and you should. What a good-vibe car. You should look out for the fold out bench for in the trunk, your kids will love that.
I'm helping my oldest brother repairing his old 71' Volvo 142Sport. To repair the leather strips under the seat, we used some old seatbelts that we popnitted together in the ends. It works perfect, and the seats now feels like brand new.
Lovely Volvo! Greetings from Sweden :)
what an amazing car. I have an 18 year old XC70 wagon, but this is just an absolute diamond
David Bello would definitely approve this video!
dude keep the volvo. This will last you a ifetime in memories with the kids on roadtrips.
The mustang is cute, but less versatile and the volvo, well, it is a volvo. And a gorgeous gal at that! You put so much love into it, the kids go nuts in it, keep it, keep it, keep it!!!
Plus it's got the legendary pushrod motor, these things simply won't die
Keep them both. If the Mustang makes your wife happy, she deserves something nice.
I’d be proud to own that wagon!!!
Makes me happy as a Swede too see you putting that much effort into that beautiful Volvo 😍🇸🇪👍🏻 Keep up the good work Michael, you're such a nice guy with excellent skills 💪🏻
That car would fit nicely in a Volvo dealer, to show some history and the quality of the brand.
Love the wife and kids in the video! Take care.
I remember back in the day when my parents bought one of these new, except it was yellow. Loved that car that me and my siblings grew up with. as a child you are super attentive to all the little details, like the pattern in the vinyl ceiling, the texture of the door panels, etc.
Me and my one year older sister gave it a rough start, though. One day short after we got it we figured out it was possible to clinb up on the roof and use the flex of the metal pretty much like a trampoline. So we basically jumped up and down on the roof for a while, and then a few of the kids in the neighbourhood joined in. Soon, we found out that if we hauled up pebbles on the car as we jumped on it, all the little pieces of rock would dance around our feet. All very enjoyable in a childs shortsighted mind.
For the following weeks, that car had a large puddle of water on top after it had rained, and being yellow, all the rust stains that developed all over the car made it commonly known as "the giraffe" in the neighbourhood.
My parents got it fixed though, but this is a passage that humbles me, and one I often remember when my own children break things. Mum and dad, I still owe you!
Love them both. That Volvo is way cool. I had a 79 242 I wish I would've kept.
Nice Michael, those Volvo wagons are really getting hard to come by from that generation -nice work! When will there be another 911 video? I want to see that car finished!
Thanks! The last of the back ordered parts have been coming in this week. My plan is to have a video on the 911 by the weekend! Hopefully one screwing the license plate on 😉
What a beauty! Totally agree, always leave it in this original condition. First paint is really special. Like to see the car has lived but survived really well. Enjoyed watching your video. Greetings from Holland.
GREAT FAMILY, GREAT VIDEOS!!!
BEST OF EVERYTHING IN 2022 FOR YOUR FAMILY AND YOU!!!
absolutely beautiful. makes me miss my 140's!! gonna have to bring some back into my fleet!
1 of the beautys of CZcams is tht it has allowed people to go out an find thes old classic peaces of history and restore them an keep them alive. Cheers for the content I enjoy watching every video of thes cars being brought back to life
Quite possibly the greatest video I’ve ever watched. Love seeing this wagon rescued. The entire video I was looking forward to seeing the tail lamp replaced and the gas cap area cleaned off. What a beauty!
Great job Michael and your dad too! Really enjoyed seeing the whole family - a wonderful blessing for you! Happy New Year, and looking forward to 2022!
You should definitely keep the Volvo. Since it’s an S-model. Only 247 145S manufactured that year. The car also has the very sought after, older style front wings, that can’t be found any longer.
As a wagon enthusiast, I had a smile on my face the whole video. Great work and thank you for keeping that amazing Volvo on the road.
Wow! I've always liked those old Volvos but never wanted to buy one. Now I want a wagon! That is one sweet, simple car!
I am happy to see that you are using Meguiars detailing produckts 🙂 Together with a magic sponge it makes all the differense. I use the same in my detailing shop here in Norway and it gets the job done. Great video once again, guys 🙂
Good Seeing You, Your Father & Family There, That’s An Amazing Transformation You Guys Did With The Detail & Rust Repair, She Looks Great!!
Great job Mike, one of the best you and your Pop's have done.... really enjoyed this episode.Thanks...
Great job on the wagon. It looks fantastic and deserves to be used by your family. Tons of room for your stuff, easy to handle and decent mileage for an old car. Love it.
You are a car lover. We like it! You do a good job by placing new metal in the body and not over the body! NICE NICE
Wow! You’ve so looked after that old girl! Great to see you doing the welding and amazing how you brought the paint back to life. It’s obvious how much you guys care and love your cars! It’s why we are watching! Keep it coming. 🥳
That turned out really nice! I love that they used plywood in the floors of the cargo area. My Saab 900 is like that too and its a 1990, so I guess they figured if it works why change it?
The floor with the Seats foldes down looks really flat and plywood is durable! (If worst comes to worst you could just replace it yourself)👌
Amazing transformation! You shaped of 4 decades. A nice and honest surviror. The perfect retro daily driver for a family. Many new cars dont have that kind of character and vibe. Wise decision of the kids, served with very sweet smiles. Greetings from Greece
Those seat straps are Perelli rubber. Nordicar in Denmark has them. They ship fast!
True. Maybe, now he's probably keeping it, he'll come back to those and do it properly and get some comfort back for the road trips with the family.
Absolutely love Budget Builds just amazing what you can do whith abandoned cars 💟💟💟
That Volvo has obviously been loved to be such a survivor but thanks to you, it will keep going forever. Love this car. Awesome job! As a fellow Volvo wagon owner (2004 V70), this has by far been one of my favorite Budget Buildz so far!
The kids love the Volvo. They've got great taste😁
From this wagon owner to you guys:
Great job with the Volvo 😊👍👏👍!!
You guys really 'dolled' up this survivor 1969 Volvo Brick beautifully.
Those tail lamp lenses are so vunerable to damage; that's old school design though.
I'm still trying to catch up with your Playlist of videos and have to thank you all for giving us enjoyable content.
p.s. Michael I have to say that when you speak of what has been done as, '...it's not perfect...' I believe that's not in your intentional wheel house for most of these refurbs.
"It's a given, in other words."
Though the Porshe was pretty dang close.
At some camera angles you can see that ol' Volvo smiling.
I think the mustang and the Volvo are keepers for sure....both beautiful cars.. you respect the survivor cars and I really like that about you. Very pleased with how it came out.
What a freaking awesome transformation of a car that deserves it dude!! You and your mate did a fantastic job !! Congrats , she’s back in life ❤️
Love your attention to detail, volvo looks amazing, well done!👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Really beautiful work. Love how you replaces the tools and allt. It´s rare even here in sweden to find these gems to a good price and condition.
This volvo is by far one of my favorite of yours
It took all of 10 minutes to know I definitely was going to subscribe. I loved the car, the video, the vibe, and your sweet family!
Bravo ! Super boulot ! J’aime beaucoup vos réparations des parties rouillées !
Great job man and nice work .just loved.thanks for sharing this with us.may god bless you and your lovely family.
What a great and iconic Volvo wagon! Just subbed. You've got a great family, and you and your dad getting to do these rescues and restorations together is such a precious thing, so many of us wish we could have done such things with our dads but never got the opportunity. I also very much appreciate that you seem to love cars of any stripe, you don't seem to have any prejudices about where a car comes from, you love them all, as I do. That is a pretty rare thing, of course all of us real car guys have certain brands/cars we may like or want over others, but our interest, and love for, cars includes everyone. The only downside is most of us don't have the room for all the cars we'd like to have. I know I don't 😁
Your kids are adorable and look just like you guys. Amazing to see all the smiles. Amazing memories are made doing this.
What a nice video again, Michael. All the best for your family by the way. A happy new year for you all. Keeping the Volvo for driving around with the whole family is a great idea. The better racer to keep instead of the gorgeous Mustang will be your beloved Porsche. That car started for many of your fans the story of your channel. It will last I am sure. And your kids love it too❤️. A big hug from Germany. Yours Ulf
I would love to have that Volvo. I live in California. Be the perfect climate for it to last a long time.
Really good job on this. I love finding little gems like this and making them nice and original.
Nice job Mike, looking forward to your next vid
Beautiful!! So awesome! Keep up the good work!
Love the Volvos. Have had about 30 of them, rebuilt most. Wife would still like to find a 240 wagon as she felt safe driving them
Wow. I really like this car. I personally would rather love to get my dream car in my favorite color. I promised myself (5 years ago at least) that the first car I would ever buy would be my dream car in my favorite color. So far, that hasn't happened yet.
Take the Mustang and the Volvo to a classic car show and see which one gets more attention. I bet you it is the Volvo, because everyone has a Mustang, they are everywhere. The Volvo on the other hand .... hard to find one and in this great condition at that.
Great job on this restoration. Your channel keeps getting better and better.
What fun to watch the Volvo restoration. Your family is wonderful.
YESSSSS MORE 145 CONTENT man I love these cars. Let's drive up the views and engagement on that one !
I'm impressed. You've got a lot of more parts of the Volvo wagon for the Future of the old school cars for a modified.
Job well done.
It was really interesting to see this episode. Volvo ❤👍
A would keep the Volvo, it's a perfect weekend deiver with the family.
Try to find a original roof rack it will make the car complete. 👍
😀 👍
The Volvo turned out excellent! And those kids of yours are so stinking cute! Happy New Year! 😁 👍
It came out great!i like it better than the Mustang. Tell your wife not to be shy. It’s a family channel and great to see your family
yes it's a survivor and deserves it's originality. 100%. those are character trades. part of history. what a magnificent car. absolutely awesome body repair. a lot of work behind this well produced video. Love it. And what a cool family. Happy new year. Godbless.
ughhhhhhh is this for sale? I don't need it, but I neeeeeeeeeed it. So clean. Perfect amount of repairs to make it usable and proud to be driven.
Btw, I went ahead and subscribed to the Glovebox service because I LOVE to detail. I even have a $750 Sandia heated carpet extractor and I've been dying to get enough time to do my entire car.
Looks very good! Nice job on the body repairs man!
Awesome episode! I had a '71 142E that I wish i never sold! What are you asking for the Wagon? Waiting for the Porsche, too!
Just came across your channel recently as I am trying to get my hands on a 71' 142S here soon! That was a great video all around. Good content and lovely family.
I really enjoyed the videos on this car and you have a great family! Keep up the good work!
Great volvo classic car, happy new year🥳😀
Great job, looks amazing, love survirvor's❤
The mustang and the Volvo are beautiful the real stars are your family my youngest is 16 enjoy it my friend it doesn't get better than this
It made me happy to see you do a proper repair on those rust holes and not just some hack job. This thing is a survivor.
Honest channel + Survivor car builds + Learning new tricks + Family = Awesome channel Michael. Keep up the good work
Such a beautiful car! It came out looking awesome! Great job detailing it as well.
You done a fantastic job car looks great I love old volvos thumbs up my friend
Great car, well done for bringing it back to life
I really admire your patience. Great job.
Great little restoration again. This channel is a breath of fresh air in a sea of "over the top" youtube car channels!
Cant wait so see the next Porsche video
Super video, thoroughly enjoyed watching it. And yes, solid rust repairs and well judged blends are in fact what would have this survivor retain it's genuine, honest character I'd say.
Great job! I'd live to hear that volvo with the valve lash adjusted. Amazing body work you did, and the Swedes putting a drain on the gas tank was fabulous. Why don't all manufacturers do that,
GREAT JOB MICHAEL! BEAUTIFUL FAMILY!
Thank you for the memories, I’ve owned two ‘69 145’s, neither one of which looked this good. However at the time they did teach me a lot about automotive maintenance. I wish I’d not sold my ‘80 242DL SRO as it was a very reliable but fairly slow vehicle.
Dude that’s freaking impressive! What a great job on that Volvo wagon! Amazing attention to detail too! Awesome!👌😎👍
I loved the video, man! It made me miss my old Volvo 145. If I was closer, I’d be an interested buyer. That’s such a cool car.
Your such a legend . Looks amazing the old Volvo
The mustang and that Volvo would have been a perfect two car garage back in the day. Even now they’re both pretty sweet rides. :)
