The apple deal just did that with no blackouts and free for ticket season owners.
As an NHL fan, it's a shame to see the league slipping. But as an MLS fan, I love to see the league continuing to grow. Especially now with Messi playing here.
I let go of American football for MLS and other euro leagues. I can say that this sport is way more exciting.
You failed to mention the changing demographics of the USA. Soccer will eventually eclipse Hockey and Baseball.
Skin color now determines fandom? In Canada it's pretty obvious that most people living in cities end up watching basketball.
@@dixonhill1108 soccer has grown the most in the areas where immigrants settle down. So like, ny, la, sf, dc, philly. Even texas has produced great players for the usa. Canada is the same tbh. Thats why there is a heavy west indian presence in your current squad.
@@S1LVAW0LF true for Dallas FC. their youth camp is really good.
mm maybe hockey. Baseball is part of American culture
@@PussianoGaynaldoPiuu americas past time quite literally.
Or ... You can bypass the Local Broadcast Market by selling your league-wide rights to a streaming service.
MLS just sold their broadcast rights to Apple TV. $2 Billion, for 10 years.
@@OfficialKotaco $2.5* Billions
MLS already announced that all its games will be on Apple TV+ for 10 years starting next year. So, no more local TV games.
This video was already obsolete before it was released.
That is kind of embarrassing for AT&T and Bloomberg who are sponsoring these videos.
Lies again? Malaysia Stocks Depleting, Electricity Bill Increasing
Honestly I've never played hockey....whereas I played soccer
It could I think it definitely can happen hope MLS will. NHL has the advantage because the viewers in Canada are huge for NHL.
it wont because soccer isnt really popular in states or canada and plus ppl watch european leagues more than the mls
@Basic channel Soccer in the USA is growing by tons over the past 20 years MLS has came a long way. But they need to just focus there numbers and ratings. Don't compare other leagues around the USA landscape I think people can fall into the trap I do sometimes tbf 😂
@Basic channel Messi is now coming to the MLS, and this will improve the popularity of soccer in USA, or their will be more international viewers watching MLS.
@@raurymauk Now that Messi is coming to Maimi, this will increase the popularity of MLS. MLS is going to become huge.
@@uniquepolyglot2022 👍
Here after Messi signed for Inter Miami. It’s already happened 😂
apple deal with mls is massive.
For the MLS and NWSL should host their championships at every NFL Stadiums like the Super Bowl
It already has. The problem with hockey is that most ppl cant relate to it.
I have tried and tried to get into it, but the game is not enjoyable to watch on TV for a casual fan.
Soccer is much easier to follow
@@HistoricallyRomantichuh????
I can’t wait for the new season
Since MLS has gone to Apple TV, I've not followed my local Real SL team. Went to 2 games last year had no idea of the teams roster just their current standings in the league. MLS got greedy with TV deals too soon.
I’m sure the MLS, NWSL, USL, MLR, NBA/WNBA, NHL and UFL Will give M&T BANK Stadium and CFG Bank Arena some more expansion teams in Baltimore, Maryland
COLLEGE FOOTBALL is GIGANTIC in the U.S., it's bigger than the NHL. Just one College FB Conference (a 16-team league) just signed an *$8 Billion/7 year* TV/Broadcasting deal.
2:36 - Not really, you just need a stick and puck or ball, during the summer we played street hockey all the time, and while roller blades did make it more fun you can play without them, in the winter you just need ice skates and a frozen pond, and even then I knew plenty of people who would play boot hockey.
Not really these days, seriously who plays hockey?
Yo is Blanco still with the Fire?
No local deals, in fact the Apple TV deal that you looked over killed any chance of cementing that lucrative local broadcast.
One reason. Gary Bettman!
NHL is the biggest hockey league by far and with seattle and vegas joining, hockey is growing like crazy. MLS has so many better soccer leagues to compete with and they have no chance against them.
Nah. Not like crazy. Not “like crazy.” /
beign a crazy fan of both sports i want them both to take over AF and basketball
its going to take time, nhl is a canadian league where as mls is an american league
the potential is there for mls to eclipse it the other 3 idk maybe never.
College football is already bigger than hockey
Your comment implies college football recently overtook hockey. College football has been bigger than hockey, since 1869
Never trust an Englishman that calls football soccer. People now say MLS football. Get with it.
Not that big of a deal. Everybody understands what both mean.
Por que no los dos?
The term soccer actually comes from England. It's an abbreviation of AsSOCiation Football as opposed to Rugby Football which was known as Rugger. Rugger and Soccer were the descriptions used to describe the two sports. Until the 60s and 70s soccer was still commonly used in Britain and I remember many books and magazines in the school library using soccer. A lot of people in the UK don't know this as it's fallen out of use and think it is an Americanism.
NHL is the best league in the world for it’s sport MLS can’t say the same. And NHL makes way more in Local TV deals than MLS. Canada alone generates huge revenue and TV ratings and will always be NHL over MLS.
Soccer is much bigger than hockey. I like Hockey, but have to spit the facts Soccer is just the bigger sport. MLS is just getting started, is a world sport in Russia, Canada but also places where Hockey is not existent like Peru or Brazil as an example.
The entire Canadian market is smaller than Texas or Florida. MLS will crush NHL in 5 years.
Soccer is the biggest sport in the world
As a ducks fan I completely agree with you. NHL is the biggest hockey league by far and with seattle and vegas joining, hockey is growing like crazy. MLS has so many better soccer leagues to compete with and they have no chance against them.
How’s that balley sports doing? Bankruptcy. Local tv deals are obsolete.
MLS to busy trying to Monopolize the sport 😂
Ironic, I just stopped following the MLS and started following the NHL.
You wish pal you wish
It's not a matter of wishing, it's a matter of how soon that will happen. Stop being delusional and accept the fact that NHL will be below the MLS.
Not if they keep naming every team fc😂
Maybe this happens maybe it doesn't. But what is true right now is the sports are not even close. Look at the average salaries. NHL players make way more money. And that isn't changing soon because the MLS is a second tier league. The best players play elsewhere. The best hockey players in the world play in the NHL. Also soccer is a really boring and bad game to watch. If you have to convince me it's interesting it's not interesting.
It's not boring at all, get an attention span, and Messi joining will jack salaries up.
It’s funny that people like you look at salaries rather than tv ratings. This years Stanley cup final tv ratings decline from last year and with the whole balley sports bankruptcy nhl teams will sure be worried about salary caps now that they’re not recieving those regional tv deal paychecks. mls dodged a bullet and are looking at the future sports viewing in streaming with no blackouts, something nhl are notorious with.
This was extremely bias, MLS is a bush league
Maybe ur opinion is bias they used graphs and statistics to explain their reasoning you just said that it’s bush league
@@Fuzzhead392 The NHL's new national tv deal is over 1 billion per year, plus local tv deals worth over 1 billion! The MLS just bundled national/local/streaming tv deals into 1 for only 250 mill a year!
@@pricelesssummer3250 yay but they just signed a 2.5 billion Apple TV deal so
@@pricelesssummer3250 soccer is much easy sport to watch than hockey, just because you love hockey doesn't mean everyone also into hockey
Which is the point. They're wildly successful while being a minor league. They could double their audience overnight, by bringing in real talent.
Sport is so artificial in the US.
