Geoff went country on this one. Got all the elements of a good country song in his texts that he added and why he is in the laundry mat. Truck, dog, cheating girlfriend, and his backstabbing best friend Bill. Everything else in this video is Easter eggs from many of his other videos. Yes, Kathy his wife saves him from a Blue, Blue Christmas. VoicePlay released a Christmas song an hour before Geoff. Jingle Bell Rock from the Mean Girls movie.
The only country song tropes he's missing are getting drunk and landing in jail!
Yep, that's Kathy, Geoff's lovely and talented wife, who does so much work on his and Voiceplay's videos. He posted recently that he's spent every Christmas with her since he was 17, and he's in his forties now. Bring up all the fairytales you want, but in my opinion Geoff and Kathy are the perfect couple. They totally stand beside each other and are a very strong team. So his "meet cute" at the end of this is just a way of showing they just met their ideal person. It's sad Kathy has hearing issues, but it's beautiful how they don't let that stop them. And I sometimes think you feel Geoff's singing (like, literally feel it) as much as hear it anyway. She's a wonderful woman, and he's a fantastic guy, and they're brilliant as a team.
@DravenGal: Yes I feel the same way and Kathy has inspired me as well. I have a similar neurological based condition that involves processing sound and eventual hearing loss and I had to reinvent myself in my career and life. As a former singer and musician, Kathy has so much talent that she was able to move out of what she always did and do all the amazing things she does for Geoff and Voice Play as their production manager. Layne and Omar Cardona also have deaf/hearing impaired family members so all the theatrical details, presentation, Captions and other Easter eggs are so important to them to enhance the enjoyment of their covers for hearing impaired fans. I live in Central Florida so Geoff, Voice Play and their extended family members are my hometown favorites for their talent and strong sense of values for family and community.

While this was not one of their Epic masterpieces it meant something special to their fans. You missed the point of this song as you did not have all the background knowledge that his fans and patrons had. Geoff and Voice Play had a very busy past few months as Geoff, his wife, and son were sick with COVID in the fall. Legendary rock band, 'Chicago', invited Voice Play to sing two shows with them in NJ in November so they were preparing last minute for that while waiting for Eli's son to be born. They told their Patrons that they had not had much prep time but would do mini's of songs of their choice. This is a song best known as an Elvis song but it has been covered many times as a Country music song and is quite depressing. Geoff's dry, dead pan humor took it in an unexpected direction of a spoof with the Country music twang and stereotypes of depressing Country music themes (loss of truck, dog, home and woman done him wrong). Geoff always likes to end a depressing song on a positive, optimistic note so he ends it with this character meeting a new woman in the laundrymat (character played by Geoff's real life wife) and the laundry baskets turn from blue to white (other Easter eggs for the fans here such as shirts and props from different videos throughout the year). Voice Play also managed to release "Jingle Bell Rock" cover from 'Mean Girls' movie as requested by their fans. That one also has a humorous twist but introduces us to their families in the audience (Eli's wife and newborn son are in it as well as Layne's wife playing the camera mom). These were sweet fan appreciation videos perfect for the holidays this year and they will have more Epic new ones in the upcoming year.
It's a very short song so the texting was Geoff's extension. That's Kathy, his wife. When their fingers touched, the laundry baskets went from blue grey to white. I suspect he's going to have a White Christmas.
That is his wife. But it was meant to represent him finding his perfect mate.
Usually you never see Geoff without his wedding ring on, but for the sake of the storyline he temporarily removed it to film this because it’s meant to be about his …uh…situation…before Kathy walked into his life.

I once told one of my sisters that I thought this was the most depressing Christmas song ever! So, as a joke present, she made a tape for me that only had this song, sung by every country singer she could find, covering it on the radio!

That the lady at the end is indeed his wife kathy. Yes this was just a bit of fun, making the song into a country style blues as he injects some humour into the season.
Hope you see this, as it has been a while. But I prefer to not bring up recommendations on other groups' videos. Geoff has had 2 new videos out ("Wicked Game" and "Unshaken") since this one while VoicePlay has had a banger of one ("Sleeping in the Cold Below"), and one of pure joy ("Lion Sleeps Tonight"). I hope you get back to them sometime soon.
