This was filmed to show the passion and art of glowstringing and sticking, to show peace, love, unity and respect. Glowstringing is my passion and it's been an amazing experience learning this art. This was also filmed to showcase my good friend Blake Johnson's music, and whether he knows it or not his amazing filming skills. We are both blessed with an amazing talent, and we are proud to present this work of art :D

1)I started my sophomore/junior year in highschool.
2)I found out about it through my boyfriend at the time and his friends, and I was determined to be as 'good' at it as they were.
3)It's a passion.
4)Once you learn how to flow and develop your own style, you let your hands take control and it's a complete state of relaxation.

I used to do this at the end of the 90’s into the first half of the 2000’s. I remember all the bruises I’d have after a night out, but it was worth it cause it made me get good, then I was as much of the main attraction as the DJ was. Most of the time they’d pull me up on stage to provide visual entertainment. God, those were the greatest days! Now I’m in my early/mid 40’s and have 3 kids and a ton of bills to pay, but if I could go back and do it all over again, I wouldn’t change a thing!

This is a seriously accurate title for the video. Regardless of what you think of the skill level (I think it's high, but that's not the point), this really is one of the BEST FILMED performances I've seen. Perfect lighting, no grainy bits, good saturation and framing, etc.
You know, I saw this video 2 1/2 years ago and it was what got me inspired to spin glowsticks in the first place. Just wanted to thank you for being my first inspiration, Anna.

this is one of the first videos i watched when i first started stringing this was so advance back in 2010 next to "Guinto" very few people were stringing in upper levels ive now been stringing for 7 years and i can still appreciate this video it captures the time and where stringing was perfectly.

It's called Poi, as far as I know.
Glowsticking and poi have a lot of moves in common, but on a general basis "glowsticking" is light, fast, and tends to do a lot of wrist wrapping and body reverses, and I've noticed that glowstickers have a tendency to keep the body static and allow the focus to remain on the sticks (there are exceptions, of course). Poi, conversely, are usually heavier, and most people I've seen spin them with a slower style that's more focused on body movement. Poi spinners more often use air stalls and pendulums to reverse directions (as opposed to the off-the-arms and off-the-body stuff you usually see with glowsticks). Of course, most flow moves can be done with most flow tools, and everyone has their own preferences and style.

It all depends on how one looks at it. (I think) We back in the day called it twisting sticks, ones on string, like a nun-chuck. We did this back in the day when they first came out...(real light sticks) It was our 'party' mode back then, now... it's MORE than amazing to see some things that we'd never even dreamed of. I'm STILL blown away at how good these people are and are even relaxed while doing what it took a lot of strength, compassion and sheer desire to get what is a norm now... It's beyond impressive, well beyond what we did back in the day. *My hat's off to ALL of you...* :)

Ummm...I'm no history major, but poi is an ancient fighting art practiced by the Maori...glowsticking can't possibly be as old as the art of poi in general.

A single picture got me interested in glowstringing, and inspired me to keep doing it even if no one watches. i am the only one from my school to try this art form, but not the only one to enjoy watching it, as the green bar on your video shows. Thank You for posting these videos. I used to be a hardcore KandyKid! I loved Raving and glowstringing. I used to be BOSS. I keep getting told Raving is dead. Thank you for the ray of hope. It's a passion for me as well. You're very good! DO you free style off the strings. Thats what I was best at. I practices with knifes in my hands or a lit cigarette in each hand. Taught me to be more fluent and not have my hands make contact at any point.

When i first started playing with skill toys my buddy showed me this video and i have to say it was a big inspiration to me and still is i can appreciate the skill with the poi and also the way it was filmed really gave it that edge this is defiantly an example of the art that can be made with some glow sticks and some string and a good camera and some editing skills :) great video thanks for upload
