- Great question, and I'm not sure but I'm guessing it's because of the romanticized love of the old Generation Bb tin whistles.

Thanks for the reply, Sean! I just bought a new Generation Bb, and it sounds great! Maybe the A next!
You look at it another way a Bb whistle is a A# whistle. I found getting a A whistle where i am hard not unless I pay a lot of money for it.
The A whistle is good if you play with singers. I've noticed the G whistle is good to play along with a pianist. I love the sound of the B flat but what kind of group would you play with? Would it just be the occasional song or would it be a certain type of music.
