Southend-on-Sea, Essex.
Unedited footage. Various point of view shots from the front of a rollercoaster. Other shots of rollercoaster - some from the ground as carriages approach, some from inside the cars looking back at passengers.
Inside a ride that spins around and people stick to the wall when the floor moves down because of centrifugal force. I think this is called a "Ridawall". A couple of people manage to crawl down the wall and hold on to the central bars but most people are just stuck to the sides. People slide down the wall as the ride comes to an end. We see the ride from an observation platform above. Wow, it is making me feel dizzy just watching it!
Kelly's Cottage - this is a crazy house where two girls have trouble walking along a cakewalk. Various shots of people at the fire playing games at sideshows. Flying aircraft ride for children. Children crowding around a fortune telling machine.
MV Women playing one-armed bandits at the Kursaal funfair. Child climbing on to and riding a camel ride. Various shots of people walking around the fair. A "Jets" ride is seen.

It's sad that this is gone. Great to have this footage, though.
My dad was a showman here all his life. So sad to see it now
Was ure dad colin or jason
My parents originally met each other whist both working there over 70 years ago. As a young man I remember it being a wonderful place, but sadly now those days are gone.
Almost brings an east end boy to tears.Day trips to saufend on the steam train. after a sunny say on the beach by the gasworks pier if you could get a deckchair, tea tray form the basement take aways opposite, on to the kursall and a ride on the green pier train
If I was a good boy fish and chips and allowed to stay late for the lights
How did Southend let it all go
Its all gone today everywhere is just an empty shell.
Blame the tories and the internet. Nice memories.
I remember being here as a child with my dad 😀
When health and safety meant common sense
So sad what modern times are now.
Everyone eyes in front engaging with the world around them ,not staring at mobile phones , no obesity and small children having a great time.
