Thanks for your detailed nice & very understandable (Canadian?) message and yes, among others I do have a 59 ccm Husky and yes, it kind of leaks more oil than it burns fuel - sort of speak. I have several saws with the same oil dripping habit (Echo is the only dry one and I actually did give a Stihl away) and will go step by step the way you have recommended. Take care up there and try to stay out of trouble!
dony, mine was the same I thought O ring first but no. After much playing with the cap I found a hair line crack in the cap which couldnt be seen. New cap fixed it, original cap lasted 20+ years so cant grumble eh. Good vids
GREAT video! I have a 460 Rancher that leaks like crazy. I'm going to clean it up and then lay it on it's side (oil filler cap up) to see if the leak stops (indicating that it's leaking through the cap). Thanks for the video!
Good video, my 257 has same problem. I went back and forth thinking it was something from the oil pump or just the cap leaking. I’ll do same process, I need to take off clutch and inspect and clean anyway. Thanks for sharing!
OH Dony:will now this saw will run great.and it sets there and Idles perfectly.then all of a sudden when I go to squeeze the throttle it lugs..I have adjusted those set screw every which way I can.and when I'm cutting with the saw to the side cut, it lugs.could that be do to the fuel filter.

I’ve been brazing a spot on the plate to increase the pressure on the seal area for years, also I’ve used socket and punch to drive the area in to increase pressure on the area Never replace oil tube eather
I appreciate your informative videos Thank you! I have replaced the redesigned (one piece) oil pick up and screen assembly on my H/V 141 saw. It still leaks just as before. The pump and gears look good. I can't see where the oil is coming from but it leaks badly. The inside of the entire clutch area is oily but I can't see where it comes from.I did not replace the pump and the oil cap is good. Do you have a suggetion as to what else I might do? Again in my case oil is leaking from the square metal "edge" right behind the clutch :-/ wish is only a seal or maybe a gasket... thanks. I´ll let you know how it went. Regards. Jay
Another great video, Donny. On a related note, what kind of bar oil do you recommend for the new Husqvarna saws? The manual (for my 450) describes a vegetable oil base made by Husq'y, but they also say you need to remove it if the saw sits for long because that kind of oil tends to condense into a sticky paste that gums up the saw if you don't. My saw will likely be used once a month or so. Would a light sewing machine oil work as well?

I need to remove the oil pump but cant for the life of me figure out how to remove that silver washer type cover that is over the crankshaft and stopping the pump from being removed (after removing the 3 screws) I've pried as hard as I can without breaking anything...suggestions?
Watched your video on greasing pto side be aring. Great info. Reading some of your feedback i read about the same problem that I have and that is to access the oil pump and seal area. Is there a simple way to remove the cover to access them.?

Having an issue with a Husqvarna 262XP. Its leaking oil and the bar isnt being lubricated at all, when I had the bar off and the saw sitting upwrite, that little hole ( top right from the bar bolts) was leaking oil, any idea what that might be? Thanks

Hi DONYBOY, I have a Husqvarva 235 that has a serious bar oil leak. I have replaces the oil pump and ALL related hoses and filter. It is all new. None of this has slowed the oil flow at all. I can't find where the oil is coming from but I suspect what I believe to be a breather or vent tube. I see no way to remove and replace this item and I can't find it on the Husqvarna parts sheet. donyboy , i got an old pioneer p40 , would you know if there is an adjusting screw on it for your oil? the oil is coming out where it is suppose to but its coming out alot.
You know your stuff donyboy! there is a big old screw under the clutch and it was fully opened , so i put it near half way open and play with it from there , Thanks!!!!
Some Huskies just piss oil. Some dealers just sell you time and labor, or blame the leaks on engine heat expanding air in the tank thereby forcing oil through the system. Nice try but when not in use (when they all leak), it's AFTER being used which means a few things; the reservoir pumped out oil, the air in the reservoir may have expanded due to heat. When most people quit cutting they set down the saw and it cools, which may create a substantial negative pressure and air is easily drawn in after some time. Then the saw is stored where it is usually at least a little warmer (thermal expansion) and she gets the drip. Pop your cap and replace it after cool down (still get a few drips) or do what I do; whether its hot cold or in between I set it down, CAPS DOWN. Seems like a bad idea right? Your saws are still oiling w/o you and 99% of our caps don't leak, try it. 4 out of 5 of my saws lay on their left sides

if you want to speed up finding leaks use diesel, it wicks to cracks and holes and leaks super fast. and it cleans out the motor. to each there own

I think its more to protect the starter coil assembly from the pressure of the wrench against the Pawls in the assembly 👍
@mogges1 could be the filter, may also need a new carb kit

If the piston was at TDC, you wouldn't have any room for rope to go into the cylinder.

No oil for the bar of my Poulan Pro 260. I checked the oil pump. The gear is stripped. Could you tell me why a so simple mechanism could fail?

Folks need to use brake cleaner and spray the area good before removing caps will help prevent trash in tanks and proper seal of caps

tank is not pressurized, I would have to physically see it in my shop to give u a proper diagnosis

thats why the seal went . looks like the saw sits more then you use it lol
