We turned a Fender Vintera II 50s P-Bass into a James Jamerson Funk Machine (well, without ashtray and foam under the bridge) and documented the separate steps. Let us know what you think - was it worth the effort?

Sounds like the cap / pots is changing more than the pickups / hard to tell, would be great to see the replacement pickup with the stock pots / caps / wiring. Anyway I think all stock sounds best here imo
Clear differences. I preferred the 63 pickup / Allparts cap. It's much easier to roll off treble and/or volume than to try to fix a lack of treble and definition in the pickup. The stock pickup is probably accurate to the era, but it sounds muffled now.
Love this channel!
I listened without looking and couldn’t hear a difference!!!
Thank you for this comparison. Hard to say which one I prefer.
Not really hearing and difference where I'm thinking "OMG I gotta get that CAP or PICKUPS"...Sounds great original
Am I the only one who likes stock pickups more?
Demonstrating that messing with that stuff really doesn't make much difference.
Sorry, but stock '50 pickup sounds better.
