Welcome to my latest adventure in the wilds of Australia! In this video, I'm taking you through an exhilarating camping experience in the heavy rain along the beautiful beaches of New South Wales (NSW). If you love challenges, camping, and the great outdoors, join me as I embrace the downpour and share five compelling reasons to camp in heavy rain.
The video begins with me walking down the sandy beach, the sky ominously dark, and the wind howling. The first reason I camp in heavy rain is simple: **there's nobody around**. The solitude of the beach, void of other campers, offers a unique sense of peace and quiet. It's just you, the crashing waves, and the heavy rain-a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life.
Next, I find a spot to set up camp. The rain is pouring down, making the whole scene a bit eerie and thrilling. Setting up my tarp (or tarpaulin) and bivvy bag (bivouac) in such conditions is a test of my skills and patience. The challenge of pitching a camp in a deluge is both exciting and rewarding. Once my shelter is up, I take a break and head for a swim in the raging ocean. Swimming in the rain is an exhilarating experience-there’s something incredibly refreshing about the rain pelting down while you're in the water.
After my swim, I talk about reason number two: **burning calories**. Camping in heavy rain is physically demanding. Swimming in the surf, hiking along the beach, setting up camp, and cooking in such conditions all contribute to a significant calorie burn. Every activity, from standing around in the rain to preparing food, becomes a workout. This is camping at its toughest and most rewarding.
As I continue, I share the third reason: **being close to animals in the rain**. Rainy weather often brings out wildlife that you might not see otherwise. However, it's not always pleasant. In this video, I discover a leach sucking the life out of me! Leaches are common in such wet conditions, and dealing with them is part of the camping experience. I show you how to safely remove a leach and share a moment of raw, unfiltered reality of camping in the rain.
The night progresses with the rain intensifying into an absolute deluge. My camp is nearly flooded, but thanks to my bivvy bag, I survive the night. Here, I discuss reason number four: **gaining confidence through experience**. Camping in such extreme weather builds resilience and confidence. Knowing I can handle these challenging situations gives me the assurance that I can face whatever nature throws at me in future camping trips.
As dawn breaks and I boil up some coffee, I reflect on reason number five, which is deeply personal and philosophical: **camping in heavy rain is a window into life**. Life, much like camping, is full of good times and bad times. The sunshine and rainbows are the joyful moments, while the storms and adverse weather represent the challenges we face. By actively embracing the tough times, like camping in heavy rain, we learn to appreciate the good times even more. This experience keeps us grounded and reminds us that storms pass, and brighter days are ahead.
Throughout this adventure, you’ll see the raw and unfiltered side of camping in heavy rain in Australia’s stunning NSW beaches. From setting up tarps to battling leaches, cooking in the rain, and reflecting on life's lessons, this video captures the essence of a true Aussie camping experience. It's about embracing the minimalistic lifestyle, facing challenges head-on, and finding joy in the simplicity of nature.
So, grab your gear, put on your raincoat, and join me on this relentless journey. Let's embrace the rain, the wind, and the waves, and discover the unique thrill of camping in heavy rain. Whether you're an experienced camper or just looking for some inspiration for your next adventure, I hope this video motivates you to step outside your comfort zone and find beauty in the rain.

Top Notch, RT. You’re getting pretty good at these. I agree. Bits and pieces of sunsets or sunrises elevate moods and revives the soul when it’s down. Right on! 👍 🙏

@@bmarie8939 Awesome, I went to Yosemite 10 years ago, but I was super touristy just driving around no hiking. Great spot!
