I think there's a big difference between children's media and child accessable media. Children's media, like you said, treats you like a kid, while child accessable media is just books/shows/movies that can be enjoyed by anyone, just including children, rather than catering towards them. And I much prefer the latter. (If you want an example, just think of Mickey mouse clubhouse vs. gravity falls)

In russian dub there is twice more dialogues than in original and story has more Christian motives like 9 is the chosen one, also if in original dolls just soul of scientist just different sides of him, in russian vers every doll have part of people souls that was important to scientist, like 1st is soul of dictator shown in the beginning and big doll had soul of his bodyguard, twins are scientist children and there his wife (sry I don't remember their numbers) and one of them is scientist friend etc. Also in the end their redeemed their sins and there monologue about who they were and what their understand in the end (like 1st sacrifice himself and redeemed his soul)

I still remember when I watched this movie when I was 8. To this day, it still holds a close place to my heart as a movie from childhood. Still being top 20 (most of the spots being taken up by Harry Potter, studio ghibli films, and Lord of The Rings).
If anyone questions why I still hold it in my top 20, here's why.
    1. The world of 9 is just something completely different and to this day no one has done it. I know it's a dystopia, but none really do it like 9 did and usually has more of a hopeful look to them. While 9, there was honestly a sense of dread.
    2. It was actually my first time getting scared from a movie yet enamored at the same time. Even with how creepy and dreary everything was, everything had a sense of awe and wonder. Everything making you wonder what happened to make it turn into what it is now.
    3. It was my first short I ever watched. After the mo ie was released to DVD, my parents got it for me and included in the DVD was the short. Of which, the short just made me wonder more about the world.
    4. As you can tell with some of the movies that beat 9, I love movies that have a wonderful world to explore and it's world building is nothing but fantastic. On top of finding out more about the world, there always that sense of "If I find out more, there will be more to discover"
    5. The fact of there only being the 9 who are the survivors. That really set the bar for how dangerous of a world it was. That each robot could come up to surprise you at anytime, that any if them could die at anytime. There was no certainty of good things to happen.
    6. The art, the art is gorgeous. In particular the robots design and environment. The robots design were scary and moved so weirdly since, well it was a robot. They were just so fascinating to look at and watch. The environment on the other hand, it could tell a story all on its own. With the everything in decay and ruin, rust overcoming metal, and destruction being seen at all corners of the movie.
All in all, yeah it is a wonderful movie and I'm happy I was able to see it

I totally get the confusion with the character development. Here's what's given:
    1 is Fear
    2 is Inspiration
3 and 4 are Memory (Long Term and Short Term)
    5 is Insecurity
    6 is Faith
    7 is Spirit
    8 is Power
    9 is Empathy
7 doesn't solely represent rebellion since we see 9, 5, 3, and 4 do the same.
9 doesn't solely represent courage since we see 1, 7, 6, and 8 have as well.

Sarcastic or serious? I've been a writer for almost thirteen years, but don't have any finished stories. A lot of that writing has been me always caught in loops of just constantly improving my work through learning new techniques and then getting sidetracked with background world building. Such as completely forgetting to write for three of those years just to crash course in psychology. The first story I've ever started writing doesn't have a single concrete chapter, yet I've made about three textbooks worth of background lore, culture, biology, and societal structure, which I now have to either recycle or throw in the trash since I don't see a reason to continue with the project.

Yes, that scene along with others like it in the movie really showcase how dangerous their environment is, and by not shying away from death the stakes are never lowered. It’s as if they’re making the audience wait for the next machine to find them. A moment of rest in a movie like this doesn’t truly give the rest everybody needs, because they either don’t last long enough or always end in peril. It’s really awesome, how they could twist the atmosphere behind a “break” like this.

I watched the movie in awe and wonder. This apocalyptic scene was mesmerizing, the stitch punks (ragdolls) were amazing. The beast and the other monsters B.R.A.I.N. made were incredible. I found that the story is obviously how humans fell and we're cruel. The machine (B.R.A.I.N) was never meant for war, and it was innocent. It looked sad to see it's creator go, which i saw as how the thing was thinking. The stress caused it to destroy, corrupting it. I felt like it knew what the ragdolls had, and wanted it for itself. Perhaps it wanted the power, or maybe it was going to fix the planet now that it is destroyed. As the movie ended, i was pondering what could have happened. 9, 7, 4 and 3 are now the only things left alive, and the rain is bound to bring back the planet. So what happened next? We don't know, but i can guess. Truly, this film was a gem for me.

Its really cool how the characters are based off of real mythology of clay or hand made dolls brought to life. Nearly every culture has their own version. Some are made of raw clay and are guardians. Others are carved into the tombs as afterlife guides and workers. Its neat how throughout time, this concept has shifted, changed, and evolved but never faded.

this film is phenomenal and remains to be in my top 5 fave films of all time. it's an incredibly powerful post apocalyptic film and has some of the best horror sci fi i've ever seen in cinema or television. i'll always love it.

When I was younger, I thought the monsters in this were made by Sid from Toy Story and that the two movies were somehow connected.
Also, the human-created robots look like something from Dishonored.

it's been a few years since I last watched this movie and somehow i had the memories of it being stopmotion with the humans being life action, now that would have been fantastic, because it's definitely got the right look and feel for it
