I was one of those officers that refused to be corrupted, I ended up getting terminated because they said I refused to work double shifts constantly!! I was depressed for months and had horrible anxiety but I’ve been getting treatment and I am starting nursing school this month because that’s what I’ve always wanted to do😀

Congrats on getting into nursing school! I hate to say this, but nursing is the same. Talk you into the constant double shifts and the politics with others are tough. Just keep that in mind. Know your worth, chart everything to cover your ass, always listen to your gut, and be the patients advocate with confidence. Just keep reminding yourself why you want to be a nurse during those crazy times. 💗

It might allow you a freer format to discuss the things you experienced in more depth, and also allow you to have more guests that might not be willing to share their name and/or face. Jennifer Gregus Girllllll I said the same thing. I was Navy. I was like damn this sounds a lot like being in the military lol. I even said when I was in that it felt like prison.
I’ve heard the army has the highest rates of sexual assault out of all the branches

Most bitches talk shit cuz its all they got to do unlike the quiet ones, i got ganged on by my dorm , except i didn't get emotional or respond to it so they stopped eventually. One chick was like "youre lucky im being nice to you" while she threatned to smack me up with a broom and choke me in my sleep lmfao just cuz i was quiet af and read my books !!!

I am semi- introverted and was in prison. I spent 6 months in county before going to prison and got close to some badass women who had been to prison several times and weren't people you messed with. They made sure people knew not to mess with me :) They also told me prison rules before I hit the grounds.
@@AB-rl6kd oh that’s very sweet! It’s when you’re facing difficult times you can find people who care about you and make things a little easier. When I was hospitalized to a psych ward I made some good friends too, I miss them

I just recently found out my dad did time before I was born for 6 years, he still to this day does not talk about it. Watching your videos has been so interesting and so informative. I'm a psychology student and we learned about the Stanford Prison Experiment in class. Really changes your perspective on contrived social dynamics. I didn't know they made a movie about it, better check it out!

I just spent my morning volunteering at my local county jail for work. I lead a support group about substance abuse and PTSD for a couple of the women’s pods. I can’t wait to watch this video during my lunch break.💗

Thats awrsome that you have that oppurtunity. Im working on my psychology degree and want to work with inmates and anytime i talk about it with someone, they discourage me. Did you need to have a degree or any set of creditentials to volunteer?
@@trishaluman2309 It's been an eye-opening, challenging and rewarding opportunity!! I'm sorry to hear you've been discouraged by others to do so. If it is something you're interested in and passionate about don't be discouraged, do it! For me, I had to complete volunteer paperwork, pass a background check, and attend an orientation. I'm also a certified victim advocate in my state which helps! The agency I work for partners with the county jail so we're able to come in for group. Check out victim service agencies in your area to see if 1)they offer support groups in jail and 2) if you can volunteer, intern or do a practicum with them! I know other volunteers who are pastors/reverends at local churches and professors at our community college. I also know a volunteer who is a licensed therapist. I hope this information helps!

My dad went to prison for eight years when I was a kid so watching your videos kind of gives me insight on what life for him might have been like. You are so strong and I am amazed by how much of a changed person you have become :)
My mom served time a long while ago while I was still a kid and I always asked what it was like but she never wanted to talk about it. Well, now I know why! One time I was on a highway in the middle of nowhere at the scene of a really bad car accident because I was helping the people who were hurt and I met a correctional officer because she was on her way to work at the prison and she stopped to help us all out and she was really really nice and to do this day I still wonder if she’s as nice to the inmates

I love when you and your girls get together for prison story time! In 2015 I was arrested for some BS charge that was later dropped but I came out of jail with 2 friends. To this day we keep in touch and meet up for lunch/dinner. I love these girls. Oh and we have not been back to jail since 😁

I just love watching your videos. Your such a down to earth, REAL person. My mom was in prison for 3 years. In goochland women's correctional facility in Virginia. When she got out she had so many good, scary and funny stories to tell. That's how she dealt with being in prison for 3 years, was to talk about it. I loved listening and hearing her stories. She passed away in 2011, due to cancer. She was my best friend and when she passed i lost my way. Now I'm fighting my first felony charge and I've been scared to death the whole time because I'm going to do some time and itll be my first time doing time time. I'm trying to be the best me now thankfully. The best mom I can be and so far I think I'm doing way better than I was 4 years ago when my daughter was born.
