Gary Numan performing M.E. live at Enmore Theatre in Sydney on 13 May 2011
Electrifying live performance playing songs from his entire career from Replicas, The Pleasure Principle and Telekon through to Pure and Jagged. As anyone who has seen him live recently will attest, it may be 30 years on but he's got more energy than bands half his age and he is still at his elemental and exploratory best, revitalized and recaptured, and importantly, rewriting his reborn future. "the godfather of electro easily rivals the Reznors or Mansons of this world for dark textures and introspective anguish." (Contact Music)

I don’t ever wanna see this man on a one hit wonder video ever again. He has so many hits!!! Wtf
How can you be a one hit wonder when he had two Number 1s Ffs 😂
The guys a pioneer of electronic music. He’s influenced everything from pop, to techno to metal. Underrated he might be, I don’t think he is classed as a one hit wonder.
Fuck yeah 🤘
@@stuartwaxattack5553 indeed. He's one of the most sampled artists ever.
Just found this. Utterly superb. Maybe Numan's best song. Certainly my favourite.
Where you been Martin !!!!😉
😂.
I 100% agree!!
That drummer can make synth rock sound like hard rock.
Mr Numan, if you read this, THIS IS IT. This version. Your utterly greatest rendition. I Iisten and feel. I stand in awe.
Gary Numan is a great songwriter, not just an innovator of sound... His musicality comes thru so magnificently in every bar & measure, the lush & definitive arrangements, as well as the dramatic chord & key shifts... Glad he has owned this earlier period with great pride... it's genius
only gary numan can save the world
2:47 - Why should I care? Why should I try?
Love that part!
So ahead of it's time even for today.
This song's lyrics are as contemporary today as it was back in the 80s. Love this song!
This song really grows on me.
How was he?
Brilliant version. It's really faithful but ramps up all that's great about the original. Oh god, those strings....
THEE song that kicked off my love of this man's music, fucking genius, roll on INTRUDER 2022, UK.what a version
Amazed that basement jaxx got this from numan! What a tune!!!
Great video. I missed the guy back in the 1980s. Never saw him live. I'm still pissed to this day. Its funny because the first time I heard the word "New Wave" I thought of him. He was the ultimate new waver. And I was a classic rock junkie at the time.
Freaking brilliant .... just spot on version of one of his best. Curious as to why the crowd is so subdued. Is it an Australian thing? Are they too young to know M.E., one his best ever? I dunno. If you were there could you enlighten me? Either way... in the end it's an amazing song.
Sammy sue you are right the crowd aren't really cheering
I agree khanada dragon it would have been lovely if bowie and gary had become friends I saw bowie years ago when I used to live in nottingham I went to see bowie at his earthling concert at rock city I was blown away these days I would love to go and see Gary I now think he is so beautiful and perfectly gothic
Gary, sounds like BOWIE, when he talks sometimes.
Both LEGENDS.
👍🙂👍
Loved it when this song was the closing credits for I think S2 ep6 or ep7 of Mindhunter. Brought back my high school years in the early 80's
Aaaaah that's fantastic version 🤖👊🫶
Best version since Living Ornaments
When new, rose above the ashes of disco and remains relevant now
Some of my favorite synth "tone." I will see him on this tour.
Ah but still not the Polymoog Vox Humana, 'that' was power 'and' tone.
2020 - this blew my mind
The good old days, I love this gig set up. Nowdays its all gothic
Sill sounds fresh
legend
Seeing Steve play the keyboards on this one is pretty cool he looks to be enjoying himself
totally original outstanding! released on 7 September 1979 by Beggars Banquet Records with the best album cover which is totally relevant in current society.
I was at this concert & was impressed he still had it....was very impressed with the other post-Machine & Soul stuff-have not been disappointed with the tracks I've heard of Splinter I've heard as well..as a fellow Aspie, Gary, majorly impressed...
O que está implícito propõe um espetáculo da sombra mais íntima.
Na fábrica dos sonhos liberdade são
🔴Maravilhas🔵
First time I heard back in '81 and I was hooked.
His music sounds as fresh and unique now as it did when I first bought The Pleasure Principle 50 years ago!
That will be 40 years ago mate
Bro we’re not that old
Living legend.
AWESOME
love this song
Always one of my favorites.
The legend !
what a legend
Glad he still a few tunes from back in the 80's
and spices them up.
So good.
My all-time favorite. So dam good
Thank you for putting this out there.
Best song I think of his brilliant the pleasure principle album and and love this video too 🎧
In one word...Genius

Insanely good. Numan is a genius.
SUPERB
This song is about:
Humans have destroyed the world...there is only one machine with Artificial Intelligence rolling alone in the world...
Gary numan is a visionary man

Awesome. I just found out here was here in Dallas a month or so ago. So sorry I missed him!

me I eat dust.

Damn, I thought 'Basment Jaxx' were the brains behind this!
Nope!!! Welcome to the Gary Numan rabbit hole!!
Góticos são eternos! 🌚🖤🖤🖤
Um jovem BR aqui? Aí sim! Heheh... Sou um grande fã do Gary Numan.
Caramba, finalmente um brasileiro apreciando Gary Numan
Historical Counterfactual: what if Bowie hadn’t seen Numan as a threat? (Bowie is my favorite artist of all time hands down, but he was really mean to Gary. Nobody’s perfect). What if they had gotten along and even collaborated?
Regardless this proves that Gary wasn’t a one hit wonder or some weird late 70s/early 80s fluke. I don’t know how he did it, but he got a lot of amazing music from a really simple palette of sounds. As another comment says, “Oh, God, those strings”
Great song. Too bad the crowd wasn't alive to enjoy it.
And m.e. I eat dust
We're all so run down
I'd call it my death
But I'll only fade away
And I hate to fade alone
Now there's only m.e.
We were so sure
We were so wrong
But there's no one left to see
And there's no one left to die
There's only m.e.
Why shoud I care
Why should I try
Oh no, oh no
I turned off the pain
Like I turned off you all
Now there's only m.e.
Is that a Virus TI?
Drummer. Wow
That crowd fucking sucks. They are witnessing greatness.
Where's the red jumpsuit????? LOL
Meaning of this song:
And m.e. I eat dust.......... meaning i never win (the girl)
We're all so run down........ not attractive
I'd call it my death......... suicidal thoughts
But I'll only fade away...... being alone from birth to death
And I hate to fade alone..... not wanting to be alone
Now there's only m.e......... self explanatory
We were so sure.................... we thought the relationship would work
We were so wrong................... but it didn't work
But there's no one left to see..... no one by your side
And there's no one left to die..... thinking about topping yourself
There's only m.e...................
Why should I care
Why should I try
Oh no, oh no
I turned off the pain
Like I turned off you all
Now there's only m.e.
the last group is about shutting off your emotions to protect yourself to avoid the pain that will inevitably come from looking for love.
Greetings from Mexico
One of his best! Although the drummers could have been alot better.
So Sure, So Wrong...M.E.
this aint even a mosh cam wtf
shame so much was backing tracks and dat instead of live :-(
Next week in Dublin !!!!!!!!!!!
What a weak version this is .. Those synth's don't hold a candle to the original Polymoog. That dude nearly eating the key's as he play's..notes felt tipped on to help him ! Great song though.
Ummm... was the drummer so strapped for cash he couldn't afford a Roland Octapad and resorted to using his crash cymbal instead? It's a shame.
Lol...Everyone's a critic.
I agree khanada dragon it would have been lovely if bowie and gary had become friends I saw bowie years ago when I used to live in nottingham I went to see bowie at his earthling concert at rock city I was blown away these days I would love to go and see Gary I now think he is so beautiful and perfectly gothic
