The GTI is for sure an amazing platform to tune & drive. It's not super crazy, and still retains a lot of it's other perks to boot. It's arguably one of if not THE best all around car that you can squeeze respectable power out of.
With the right setup, they can absolutely slay canyons & touge roads.
It's why I stayed in the family when I retired my MKV. The VII is perfect for a fast & fun daily.
I have to agree with ya man. GTIs are great platform to work in. Those who are looking for a first turbo car can’t go wrong with GTIs.👊🏼💪🏼
I came from driving Mitsubishi Lancer Evo's to a GTI... Doesn't have to be your 1st Turbo car to enjoy a good car👍
Focus ST with the 2.5 cyl 5 pot is better
@@StealthyyyHD better? Talking engine or the whole car as a whole? As a whole the VW is in a different League would be like comparing a Ford to a Lincoln. Engine wise I think they're both just as good but the Ford has a larger displacement so has more power potential to some degree.
@@eppyz yep engine is better in the st the 2.5 5 pot sounds mean.
@@StealthyyyHD car sucks tho, gti way better
Traded in my 08' Polo GTI Stage 1 5spd manual for 14' GTI DSG Stage 1 (276hp at the wheels bog stock). I agree with you on your decision on choosing a manual. DSG is very nice, especially in traffic but less engagement which can be a pro for some. Love your work
mk6 do not have 276kw/200kws stock lol mk7 don't even have near that.. my mk7 gti stage 1 has 200k/270hp ate
I like watching the red shell get pushed back every time you accelerate
Hells yeah, an actual manual and not another flappy paddle gearbox video….THANK you bro!!💪🏾💪🏾 #GLIgang
So you like slower cars🤔
The DSG in these cars are VERY GOOD.
@@eppyz I like fun cars. Sure the DSG is “very good”, but clicking paddles is also still VERY sterile feeling. It’s 3 pedals and a H-gate for me….that’s it😎.
@@sonofspaceghost_9290 I will disagree with you drove manuals for 30 yrs don't miss it... Tracked Evo's for 10 yrs and still don't miss it. How I see it? If I'm buying a performance car I want the car to have the most performance out of the box. In this case? The DSG is the better gearbox for this application. If you like manuals? That's fine I get it... but manuals can get old after a while. Try driving an Evo with an upgraded clutch in LA traffic for 2 hrs.... Yeah you would want the DSG haha been there done that😎
@@eppyz can totally understand with traffic but still manual so much more fun to drive in a little hatchback like a gti
@@hospagalief well I understand what you're saying but I guess we just have different perspectives...I understand the whole manual transmission thing I drove manual transmissions probably longer than most people that are replying to this message have been alive... so I get it...but what I'm saying is I'm also a performance guy... and I buy whatever will give me the most performance out of the car... in my past cars which were Mitsubishi Lancer evolutions I would spend a lot of money to make the car 2/10 of a second fast or 3/10 of a second faster because I used to track those vehicles... In the GTI it's about a half a second difference between a manual transmission GTI versus the dual clutch GTI that is a HUGE performance advantage to the DSG.... I prefer the DSG for many reasons.... I just got tired of being in traffic my leg would get tired....as you get older this happens and takes the fun out of it.... it's fun to shift gears once in awhile but not every day.... on top of that the car with DSG is quicker to 60... quicker in the quarter mile.... and gets better gas mileage🤔 I still go on the same back roads with my friends that have manual transmission cars....I still have a really good time shifting the gears myself in manual mode with the DSG so I guess it's just a difference of perspective ....I don't see it being any less fun and I've driven manuals like I said for many many years.... I just like whatever will get the most performance out of the car and in this particular case the DSG does just that for the GTI that's my argument.
Gr8 vid. Running in the twistys is what this car lives for... Car looks, sounds and runs just terrific - very tasty. Congrats man - it is mean! What tires are you running?
Keep'er between the lines pal!
great video review. looking forward to seeing what the new mods are
Soon 👌🏼
Sunset canyon drive
2018 GTI Stage 1 manual transmission owner here and even at my level of power, the thrill is there. Obviously the Stage 3 power level speaks for itself... excellent video as always! By the way, swap out the stock muffler and resonator with a Vibrant resonator and Magnaflow muffler to get some more sound
As much as I want sound, I appreciate how lowkey it is as it’s sits now
@@JewelCity1 if you ever do decide to get an exhaust, check out the tcr muffler. It’s oem and is basically stock sounding below 3-4K revs, but really opens up and sounds great when you get on it
Got a 21 gti sams as tbis dudes stage 1 unitronic, pretty fun. Wna get springs dp new clutch and stage 2
Don’t know who you are, but your content is on point. I def smashed that “ 🔔 “
bro I’m loving the videos keep up the great content!! 🤙
I’m a simple man. I see JewelCity video. I click play. ❤️ 🙌 🇩🇪
I love this color!! I have a mk7 gti with the night blue metallic! It’s stage 2 (waiting on my is38 turbo to arrive) But I always love the grey and like chalk color!
This video was golden 🔥
Love the wheel setup most people go for 19s in the uk
I was never fan of VW but because Golf 7.5 I change my mind. Really enjoyed watching video. 400 HP seems alot for FWD. What about torque steer and understeer, do you have problems?
Do you have a wing extension? If so what name? Love the vids!
Great vid! Are you running an ethanol gauge?
No gauge
Dsg are faster but manual will always be more fun
What wheels are those? Been struggling to find a good looking set for my 2018 Passat GT
Konig
Konig Ampliforms
Are u running aftermarket clutch?? if so, which one. Im planning on upgrading mines since they're slipping real bad on WOT, looking at Stage 2 or 3 Daily from Southbend,

Nice ride-along video...how many miles on the SRE clutch kit?
20k+
Grabs lotion and clicks play.
Awkward
Nice video!
Dude ! Did you turn off the car after the many pulls! 😔 No bueno!
only to let the brakes cool in gear for a quick moment. I know, the car got a good idle session back home
Sweet ride!
Thanks!
Just noticed in your last video you had a CEL. Was there anything set up differently between your street runs and this video that cleared the CEL?
Same setup. Every now and then I clear the code
Love the stance!! What tire size and suspension setup?
Koenig Ampliforms, 18x8.5”. Lightweight. 1” drop via VWR springs I believe. Stock dampers. Jewel is a treasured gem on the GolfMk7 forums, and an awesome fella in general.
it's a facelift without virtual cockpit and with a Mk7 MIB ? Oo'
How much boost are you holding consistently bro ?
Salut gas tu n as pas le cockpit?
GTI *Clubsport* MK7 owner here. It came with IS38 from factory lol, + it has lower chassis weight & downforce, forged wheels to keep weight down abit etc. Also it sends 100% of power to front wheels only. So it bites quite badass wheather your tuned or not. At the moment 360hp /462 tq on Stage 1. Thinking going Revo Stage 2 laters for getting over 400hp. Then more importantly DSG tune it with TVS Engineering (worlds best as iv heard). Also have the invidia highflow sportcat downpipe to be installed soon. Sub if you wanna check future build on my channel! 👍
bro please provide the link for the auto culture sticker!

Do you daily drive it since going stage 3? Who often do you drive your Acura? I wanna go stage 3 but a lot of guys don't daily their GTI/Rs after doing so. 🤔 LMK.
I don’t even know what Stage 3 means on this car anymore lol, but I have the same setup as Jewel here on my MK7 GTI 6spd IS38, and I use it every single day for work. Great car to daily no matter the power level…

@@JacesOwnWorld on the same boat here no complaints
I don't know where you've picked up that notion. Plenty and I mean PLENTY of folks daily their IS38 GTI (myself included). It's no different than a bolt on Stage 2 Golf R, just w/o AWD. "Stage 3" isn't anything nuts.
There's also PLENTY of folks who are daily driving hybrid setups. Which will put down 100-200whp MORE than the IS38 depending on fueling and which hybrid is bolted on.
Ok, great to know. Thank yiu guys for the feed back. I hope to joing the stage 3 club sometime next year. 🤞🏽
My stock 2017 GTI has trouble putting power down through a stock clutch...how have you not destroyed your clutch yet? Or did you upgrade that but forgot to mention?
It’s upgraded. Some of the other vids list it but forgot to mention in this one
Hi!! did not have to change fuel injectors for the is38 turbine upgrade
Not required for oem is38
@@JewelCity1 ok, thank.
Hey bro we have the same set up but I just need an is38 and better wheels/tires. What’s your set up again and does it rub?
This one: czcams.com/video/DGJGEb-ObOo/video.html
How'd you get past smog in CA with these mods? Have a '13 MK6 R and wanting to do a turbo back exhaust and an HPA intake manifold, and frankenturbo setup.
That's my question, how do you get it to smog other than having to uninstall then reinstall the upgrades before and after which would be insane and costly?
No smog for the first five years after the manufacture date. After that it's your good friend Benjamin Franklin to the rescue...
Was this shot on sunset highway?
digital display? mk7.5
is it 400 to the wheels on stock internals?
Yessir
@@JewelCity1 thats sick 👍
So if you have a stick shift what exactly is the difference when in sport mode? Because in the automatic with DSG, sport obviously shifts up and down for you at higher rpm’s.
Throttle response sharpness. Which is also nice for blipping the throttle on downshifts
@@JewelCity1 nice, I have this same car in black 2021 SE DSG, all stock though.
@@MarkEnriquez1971 forgot to mention sport mode also gives a bump in boost psi
Isn't it recommended to leave the engine on for a bit to cool the turbo after a few pulls ?
Replied to another comment about this. Letting the brakes cool in gear, engine had a long idle session after
The turbo is cooled by coolant and the water pump keeps running even after the engine is off.
^ this. Turbo timing is a thing of the 90s. GTIs have factory parameters that work like a charm. 🥰
😍😍😍😍🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Love your car bro!
What are your thoughts on a Turbo Muffler Delete? Worth the money?
Unless it’s free, spend $$ elsewhere
How do you get the car smoged with the downpipe?
Where he’s at he doesn’t need smog for another 3-4 years. When he does he can just swap out the downpipe, it’s only an hour of labor.
@@LoXHumaN So every time you change pipes there are possibility of leak, bad connection and wear and tear.
@@WCtrainer1 just get a new clamp if you’re worried about that, there’s another option where you pay someone to pass you.
@@LoXHumaN I'm in Commifornia, lol, no one around to pass it for me.
@@WCtrainer1 I’m here too and have no issues. Gotta pay to play.
Do the 7.5's suffer from crank walk issues like the 7's had with a manual trans? Just curious.
Yes
I’ve never met anyone who has had crank walk. I’ve only seen it online with early models
@@JewelCity1 I have seen it but not on a 7.5 but something to keep an eye on. Only affects the manual cars. Also where did you get the headlights? Those aren't stock for an S and I've been looking for some for my 7.5 S but they can't be found. Where did you get yours?
Yes
do you think the falken rt660s are worth the money, since youve had them for a while now
Between indy500, ps4s, that I ran on this car, the 660s gave the best straight line grip and Ps4s would be best for a quiet/comfort
@@JewelCity1 no love for the Indy 500s huh? That's currently my plan for tires when these ones burn down.
@@MeltingRubberZ28 Indy’s are great bang for buck but after trying azenis 200tw tires I don’t know if I could go back
@@JewelCity1 sounds like Indy's are the one for me. I'm cheap but want some performance. Probably the perfect balance.
@@MeltingRubberZ28 oh then def give them a try. You’ll like it if you’re still on all season tires
When driving with is38 is it faster a lot from the golf r from a rolling point?
Weight difference from the gti and manual gearing would help against the R. From a dig however, the gti would not have advantage and 1st gear is kind of useless (spin)
@@JewelCity1 why would manual gearing help when shifting comes faster from an dsg?
@@Benko_DieseL gti gearing is longer in manual vs dsg. Not sure about golf r gearing
I have a mk6 gti, I want to make 250hp what mods you recommend
K04 stage 3
You just need a stage 1 tune (i.e. APR or Unitronic) and you’ll be sitting just above 250hp - it requires no mods at all
What's up with that beat though lol
Waiting for you to do a verse
@@JewelCity1 send it !!! Any beat send it lol
Are you running an oil cooler dude? My shit runs at 210-220
Stock cooler
what's so different between golf R and golf gti ?
Awd, bigger turbo, etc
15k and about 200lbs
A lot more power, AWD, stellar resale value.
Do you have a turbo inlet pipe?
Yes it does. Full intake setup
@@JewelCity1 Do you have the CTS one?

@@zaidhchoudhry512 feels like 1.8k to me but I try not to get on it that early
@@zaidhchoudhry512 yes. I have seen dynographs and is20 peak torque is at 2.5k rpm
I have a 18 GTi and this is certainly not 400 brake
It’s 400wheel brotha
Look at that interior compared to the latest model. It's a joke and a piss take to customers expecting them to be ok with the shitty plastic and bare bones of an interior.
it's the same interior than my 2014-2015 GTI. Honestly it look good and plastics are good quality. doesn't squish and doesn''t make noises, lot of foamed plastics and lacquered plastics with great honey bee comb motif. And the red ambiant lights are gorgeous.
i have an european GTI don't know if the US version is so much different with build quality.
