  • We have reached the third month milestone for this terrarium. I have attempted to introduce plants to the terrarium in an attempt to create a self-sufficient ecosystem as well as add vibrancy to the tank. Unfortunately my isopods don't exactly cooperate with my plans.

Very nice of you provide your isopods with fresh (very, very fresh) leafy greens...

Before I even thought to look for an update, i left a comment on your first video with them eating your moss. Seeing this update, I must say that unless you find a plant that they dont like (which are typically the toxic types) you will unfortunately not be able to keep live plants with these isopods. They are like goats, constantly hungry and grazing if not sleeping. That's all they do.lol which is why I love keeping them for my clean up crews. Though, not this specific species. This species are now pets only.lol anyway, they multiply so fast, and the huge numbers are what really makes a difference in the ability to keep live plants. Along with their size being on the bigger end. They eat so a lot and faster than the time a plant takes to recover what had been eaten. I am so curious to see your journey and if you find a solution. Your videos are very well made, and are very entertaining. I have subscribed and cannot wait to see what else you have posted. /tfs:):)

You're learning what high density grazing is all about.

This is really cool and fun to watch. If you have the time/want to, can you update a little more (Like every week or 2 weeks or 3 week or month or even every few days. I have a smart tv so I'm about to want it on there to make this an actual isopod TV!

Hehe, I have less than 30 pods in my vivarium and the ferns I put in are essentially eaten up by now 2 months in... they seem to prefer some plants over others though, so I think with some experimentation you might find something that works?

I think I will use an aquarium I have for isopods.

Very helpful! I wish they didn’t want to eat the plants lol.
