Girl I absolutely adore you. Your voice is incredible, and i can feel the emotion in the story, which is quite rare even the most subbed dude who has great range just kinda sounds frantic everytime. I love that you narrate good quality, esoteric, literary works of art. You are by far my absolute favorite. Even over your man lol

I was brought into creepypasta by Chilling Tales for Dark Nigts. Their audio effects were beyond par. But now they're unable to sustain themselves so they no longer have the full-feature stories. Most creepypasta channels do some narration, slap on some of Myuu's music, and done. Dark Somnium and You are a welcome exception

Married to a Doctor, she is the breed that realizes Nurses often know MUCH more than their peacock-doctor counterparts.
However, according to what i described to her last night, she seems ok with the “accuracy” of the story.
We must realize writers take minor creative liberties in order to enrich the story.
Would you prefer a dry summary of your day at the hospital, each detail as shiny perfect as a brand-new intravenous needle..?
      Or this wonderful story..?
Not an attack, just a gentle statement of solidarity with you, as a man without much formal education who loves his “Doctora” and knows how hard Nurses work.
      Much respect.

It probably works symbolic and on an emotional level. I dont but it seems that person talked about the emotional horror thats possible and made it magical realism?!
Which works. I think it can be very bizarre in medicine, just for a story it might need a focus XD
But i know doctors earnings and debt can be that depressing, :(

    Saint Francis Hospital Rules
    1. Never under any circumstances share your copy of the rules with anyone else.
    2. If any other Doctor displays erratic behaviour leave the area immediately, do not make eye contact.
    3. If any other Doctor is approached or detained by someone in a janitor's uniform do not interfere. Never ask about that former Doctor again.
    4. Never touch any seemingly abandoned Reese's Peanut Butter cups those are Doctor Scrit's favourite candy.
    5. Any child that dies in saint Francis hospital MUST be cremated within 120 minutes of the official time of death, If you suspect this rule has been broken alert Doctor Scrit and the hospital will be evacuated.
    6. There is no children's burns unit at Saint Francis hospital, if you find yourself there continue walking until you find yourself in familiar territory. This usually requires traveling down the central hallway for 47 minutes, you will not reach a wall during that interval.
    7. This rule is on a need to know basis.
    8. A small quantity of sulfuric acid is kept in every room, this is only intended for use on patients with severed spinal cords. If thy attack a hypodermic injection of H2SO4 into the cranium is the only way to subdue the subject.
    9. The morgue must house at least 13 cadavers at all times.
    10. If you find yourself on the hospital roof with no memory of how you got there, you have only two choices. Either wait for an extraction team to find you or, jump 4 stories to the sidewalk on court street.
    11. If you see room 1913 do not look directly at the numbers, do not open the door. This is by far the most important rule.

The character came across as someone who had grown used to putting up a shield so people couldn’t reach her if you know what I mean, so her sometimes being so different actually made it more realistic. I really liked the story, I loved the way you narrated it and honestly as someone who wants to be a narrator too but doesn’t have a male voice, I’m glad to know there are female narrators after all. I absolutely love narrating and acting, but I’ve been looking for someone like me because I never met any female narrators. You motivate me to actually do it. Thanks for sharing your own story, Rom. I think the majority of us have lost someone so close to our hearts that it felt like a piece was torn off when they had to go.
I’m an only child, so for me it wasn’t a sibling, but my pappy. My absolute best friend until I was 11. I never got to say goodbye because my stupid 11 year old self thought that he’d still be alive when I got home from school. He wasn’t. I’m 26 now and I still cry at l least once a week because I miss him so, so much. I’m crying thinking about how much I miss him writing this.
But it’s not all bad, because I remember how much he cared about me, how much fun we had together, his beautiful smile which I see so clearly on my cousin’s little guys, how much he just loved all of us and how much he’d love all of us that have come after he had to go. So it’s okay if we cry sometimes too, Rom. We all have to feel our feelings.
Never stop keeping it real and sharing as much as you feel like sharing. Stories like yours help people like me, and I appreciate you a lot.

I never saw that twist coming. Also as a scrubs fan I loved Dr. Scrit. I imagined the janitor as the janitor from that show lol
At the very end there's a part where Dr. Scrit says to herself maybe she'll put it together this time and I came back to that at the very end. Maybe young Ellie wasn't the only one who needed what was being offered and it would be interesting to see how things go if the offer was taken. I think I just didn't want the story to end. I'm sorry for the personal sorrow you have experienced and I thank you for sharing about it with us.

I don't know what touched me more, the story itself, or your book club. Thank you for that part by the way, it was an added dimension to the whole thing, a sort of "closure" to all the experiences I was going thru when listening to such a good strong story like this one.
You performed it very well, and you added just enough "spice" to each character to make me recognize each flavor they were expressing as a character both in the story as a whole, as well as within their own individual story of themselves.
I did not dislike the main character even after I learned about her past guilt. I share in the experience of how much it can bury someone so deep within themselves that you can literally go thru something like this in your head alone, and not be able to escape this painful loop. And it prevents your Light from ever shining as bright and even brighter than you can make it because of the ghosts of "if only I can go back" constantly playing over and over in your head... You performed Ellie well enough to make me see myself in her. And that last line you delivered about if I don't let go of the past, the past will never let go of me, wss like a kick in the head for me...
Now as Dr Skrit, I really liked her. You infused something in this character that made me wish I had someone like her earlier in my life. She came across as a beeotch in the beginning, you know, she was a beeotch that i'd like to learn from because you colored her with texture and depth that made you feel her cold uncaring attitude was just a shield. I like the accent. Actually I didn't even recognize that you had given her one till you shared this in the book club. I enjoyed listening to her little quips of wisdom, sarcastic but true. I found myself chuckling at some of her remarks, and I really like how she said 'Dr. Fae-llissss' you did that perfect! As for coming to the conclusion that student and teacher were one and the same, I first flirted with the idea when the doc found Ellie in the closet reading the set of rules from her fellow intern who just killed himself. I'm like how did she know Ellie was in the closet? Oooowhat if that was her in the past? But I dunno, I watch and read too much scifi to always resort to that conclusion... But you know, after listening to the third part, you did something wonderful, you voiced each character so that I could tell them apart, but then you gave a little something to Dr Skrit to make her sound like she was almost straining to give Ellie the answer to a mystery...not like a mother would, or teacher, but someone closer. And that was when I came across a question that asked, if I could meet and have lunch with anyone I wanted, dead or alive, or otherwise...who would it be? And I immediately answered, I want it to be with my 12 year old self, so that I can tell her what the right decisions are, and what we she needed to do so that my life would be better. But will she understand me? Will she be interested and accepting of what I will disclose to her about our future? Will I be accepting what her thoughts and ideas then? Will I be disappointed at her attitude? Will she freak out over mine? We're we meant to relive the past in order to change the future? We say that parent can be very hard on their children when it comes to encouraging them to build a good future. But if we had the chance to 'raise' ourselves, would we be harder on our younger selves?
I apologize for rambling. I really love listening to your narrations. And ThankU for this bookclub!

It sounds to me like you pretty much got the same sort of conclusions from the story I did! You say you've ingested so much scifi so you mull over the story points too much. I really do too, I have the same sort of issues looking so deep into stuff like that. I think it makes them more interesting! 🤗 I'm glad you liked the story so much, and really caught on to the "spice" of the characters. I love that lingo 😁

This was my first story by you. I very much Liked your style, and subscribed.
Edit. I too thought that she was too old for her choices. If she was 9 or 8, it would have been more believable. I think I kinda did imagine her as younger, despite what the story said.
I have to be careful with some horror stories, because of a loss I suffered less than a year ago. I wouldn't have blamed you if you had quit after coming to the part of the brother's death. I am greatful you didn't, but please don't trigger yourself if you feel too bad. Even if you consider this to be your job, a job shouldn't come before your mental wellbeing.
    That said;
You told the story beautifully, and I think what you did with the accent fit well into the story. I'm not a native speaker, so I didn't starkly notice the accent, only that the main character(s) started to sound a bit similiar at the end, which made perfect sense.

The Appalachian accent of Dr. Scritt was PERFECT! It really helped hide that fact that Elle and Dr. Scritt were the same person. I liked Elle a lot but I also agree that a twelve year old (me) would absolutely know better than throwing a stuffed bear on an open flame. I would also have probably died trying to save my little brother from a house fire. But, we are all NOT the same and I don’t think less of Elle for making the decision to run out of the burning house to safety. Twelve is a really hard age. So many twelve year olds are not on the same level of maturity or have the same level of responsibility as other twelve year olds. I look at my three children and they all had totally different levels of maturity among many other things even though they were raised in the same house. I really loved this story and was extremely surprised that Dr. Vivian Scritt and Elle were the same person! You do an AMAZING Appalachian accent! I grew up not too far from that area but moved to Texas at age fifteen. This was the very first time I’ve ever listened to you narrate and was so pleased! You have a NEW SUBSCRIBER! Thank you for all of the hard work you put into this story and I am really looking forward to listening to MANY other narrations by you! I hope you and your loved ones are staying happy and healthy!

I noticed the accent change but it didn't really morphe for me until the end..yes skrit was an assholes but to toughen herself..and i agree Ellie should have been younger because at 12 I was full time taking care of my sister's baby after school while she was in college. So I would have known to act differently. I'm sorry this was hard for you because of your brother..I think it came out in your story though, and made it better. Immensely enjoyed!

Especially loved Ronnie's prayer part. That was interesting🤔👏🏿🙏🏿 I loved this! The only part I am still a little bit confused or indifferent about is the paranormal stuff like the rules, and how that tied into the time travel. The ghosts and the 47 minute hallway, 13 corpses, and having to lock away in the incinerator. How did that tie into time travel? 🤔🤷🏿‍♂️

Hey RomNex, I'm writing because of your openness to it in the Book Club portion. I love this story, and you did an excellent job producing it. I particularly like the way the dialogue of the hardass characters is written, including the philosophy behind their speech. (Sometimes wish I was more similar to them.) And, no, I didn't see the identity twist until the scene that first repeats. Just before she said her name, but certainly not even at the Janitor's door...
I like the tactic you took with the accents, and think that not only does it make sense, but is actually pretty clever, and seems plausible the character would do that with intent. My critique, though, is that I actually didn't hear the accents. Only in a couple of words here and there, and I honestly thought that it was your native accent showing through very slightly. I took pleasure in hearing it and realizing that I'd discovered where you are from, just by a little hint in a couple of words sometimes. If you want to use accents, I'd try to push it a little more. I understand the danger if overacting, but I'm fairly sensitive to accents, and I really didn't catch it until you discussed it in the Book Club. Maybe that's just me though. I'm happy to hear a reply, if you like.
Because you know Dark Somnium, I should mention that he's my favorite narrator, and his music, foley, etc. is just super satisfying. He did a story that was first person of a young black girl, and I actually felt the same with his use of accent; that it simply wasn't strong enough, and didn't really nail it. I love the work both if you make, and offer this as constructive criticism. Thank you so much for these stories, both you and Dark Somnium. Reply if you like! :)

@@RomNex That's great! I just listened to NaturesTemper reading of 1971: Vietnam Experience, and his accent was apparent and believable.
I remember seeing a chalkboard in an acting class laying out alterations to change a plain newscaster accent into a metro British accent. It was a set of vowels and such, with a replacement version, phonetically in the same news accent, but when spoken aloud, sounded like the Brit accent. Don't know if I explained that well, but my point is that, if you two want to use accents as part of your work, there are useful tools like that to study different accents. Thought it was fascinating, and I lingered at the chalkboard, sounding it out... :)
      Thanks again for your work!
