Thank you for keeping Microprose alive. My aunt worked for Microprose in the 80's and early 90's. I still have many sealed copies of games she gave me for Christmases and birthdays.
Finally the solution to CAP 2 that was abandoned by developer. I'm glad that Microprose bought this over from the developer who abandoned it. I hope Microprose (MP) would add more aircraft to this game
@@Joshua-by4dc Tiny Combat Arena, great game but still short on content. I personally never liked the Harrier, special plane but ugly and it compromises conventional takeoff/landing that are always a highlight of any flight.

AV-8B is my fav jet and and I've wished for the Osprey in DCS. With all the uncertainty around RAZBAM & DCS at the moment, this is very welcome news! I'm going to check it out immediately! Very interested to see where on the scale between casual/arcade and hardcore/study this sim lands. Really hoping for authentic feeling flight model. Fingers and toes crossed for this one! It's the first I've heard of it but it seems that it's been in early access since... 2016!? Ouch. Here's hoping they stick the landing and it doesn't end up in the perpetually unfinished graveyard.
@@vimfuego8827 RAZBAM has the largest catalog of the third-party module devs, and ED has already lost one dev to a similar situation in the past. Can't imagine that it is easy to find devs for a game like this, but if they lose a large partner like RB it will only be that much harder.
I'm really loving the fact that microprose is relaunching all these games from my childhood. That being said I went over to steam after watching this clip expecting to buy, but then saw all those abandonware reviews. Even though this is one of the very few MP promises you can already play, this one will have to show some progress first. Also, why make tanks controllable when this game is called combat air patrol. Focus please, this could be a good game.
I was so disappointed with this game being stuck and basically abandoned for years. I’d love to see development resumed on this, but I need to see some clarification on what’s happened since it was last developed several years ago and why the hold happened. I’d also like to see multiplayer and Multicrew developments for the aircraft that support multiple stations before I consider this game back into my rotation. I do very much hope that MicroProse’s funding will help to achieve this.
Officer: Marine, what you do this weekend? LCpl: sir I spent my whole paycheck on CAP2 for every downloadable content to learn to operate almost every weapon systems we have. Officer: promote this Marine ahead of all!!
If it ever gets out of access I will have a look. I bought this title back in 2022 and there was no support or updates from the Dev, couldn't get the HOTAS to work and it was limited in what you could do. I do wish you every success and will follow development closely with a view to buying again in the future, but just been bitten by E.A one too many times.
@@anthonyj5298 That's correct Anthony. It sat on sale on Steam at a standstill. The shop page looked impressive enough for what it was. As with all things you don't really know until you give it a try and what was there, although promising was left in limbo and there wasn't much there at all and no words or timescale from the sole Dev. Then skip forward to Microprose buying up the names and rights to what we're their titles in their heyday as such. My guess was they purely wanted the name, but it seems that there was enough promise to build upon the framework there already. I am shocked that it's the same Dev though, maybe he just ran out of money, which is fair enough. What I'm a bit naked over is it remained on sale for all that time in a barely playable state and most likely would of remained so.
Always love to see something new from MP but the AV8B 2 radar model was never intended as a CAP aircraft as that is primarily an Air to Air function. It was given the radar variant to basically justify its continued existence as attack aircraft have historically struggled to stay on the budget for the services that field them. I was with VMA-513 in Yuma from 02-06. We sent our Harriers to red flag and they got flat out trounced every year in any CAP functions they were given. That being said, I really do not care if you call it Breadwings, so long as it has all the functionality detail of the f-16 in BMS. Rooting for this to become a new platform for more combat aircraft to be simulated.
VR interactive controls and sticks. That sold me. And the Harrier, which I love. Too bad it couldn't be the Sea Harrier in the early 1980's, which is the only time the Harrier was THE plane in a war (Falklands conflict). But, I love VTOL VR, so a Harrier sim with full controls in VR will be great. If it works.

Its the AV-8B+, which is fully multirole. Although the USMC don't really (need) to take advantage of it, the Italian and Spanish examples fully take on the fleet defender role with AIM-120s.
