Locality Review: Sholinganallur, Chennai

Sholinganallur’s development can be attributed to the growth in IT infrastructure in and around the locality. It’s situated along the Old Mahabalipuram Road or the OMR, which is one of the major IT corridors of Chennai. The OMR and the Perumbakkam Main Road passes through the locality, dividing it into four halves. When we carefully observe, the eastern side of the locality is more developed compared to its western counterpart. Some of the prime localities surrounding Sholinganallur are Karapakkam, Akkarai, Perumbakkam, and Medavakkam.

Sholinganallur’s connectivity quotient is further expected to improve with the Phase-2 expansion of Chennai Metro Rail. The locality will get a metro station under the Madhavaram-Sholinganallur Line. The project is currently under construction and is likely to be operational by 2024.

The consumer profile of Sholinganallur majorly consists of the IT professionals working in nearby technology hubs.

I stayed in illam hostel, maxx fashions (shollinganallur jn) in 2018 for only 2 months. Despite of language barrier and food chennai will be there in my heart ❤️ forever.
