On the topic of "If I tried hard enough," it's less of that and moreso that I spread myself thin between work, real life, playing two or three other games more than I play RL, and having this feeling of inconsistency that only shakes after a few hard sessions. I definitely have some cleaning up to do though!

It can sometimes be a meaningful distinction.. though GC is probably not a level that it would be very meaningful at because I think most people could reach that level if they seriously tried (though for a lot of people the amount of effort involved would be so high that it probably wouldn't be very fun). I mean, most people will never be good enough to be a pro player no matter how hard they tried or how much they practiced, so there would be a meaningful difference between someone who has the potential to be a pro player but isn't really giving it their all for whatever reason vs. someone who's just entirely incapable of ever becoming a pro player.

I believe once you're in c3. Getting to gc is all about your mind set at that point. Thinking how close you are to that rank really messes up your gameplay.
Yeah mid-high c3 is pretty much the same as 1400 gc lobbies. 1500 gc lobbies are better but there are a lot of inconsistencies still. 1600 is where it gets decent but even in 1700 your gonna find a lot of mistakes. You honestly can't really call yourself good at the game until your low ssl

@@cheekyvx5371 coming from a washed 1500, i felt when i was at 1500 i was pretty solid, i always figured 1500 or 1600 was were players were somewhat "decent" even though we are still in top 1% or less of players xD.
@@alexplayzgames6991 Yeah high gc1 and gc2 are both solid ranks and higher than 99% of the playerbase but even then a low ssl mops us and a low ssl gets mopped by a semi pro-pro so I dont think a person is really "good" until low ssl. its weird to think about

Not at all bro I’m symbols tm on the C1 team my teammate was lagging the whole game at 3:19 he missed the save and runs into the wall. At 3:44 bad kick off on my part but teammate turned the wrong way after he grabbed big boost. At 4:06 ulti hits the ball over my teammate and I’m rotating back but teammate decides to half flip and try to catch up to the play rather than going back post to now back me up. At 4:12 after he challenges it into the corner I get a bad touch (fair my fault I should’ve just gotten a better touch.) but he continues to go to the corner knowing cbell is gonna beat him to the ball rather than get again rotation back. But cbell teammate makes a good point im expecting them to know these things that im explaining to you but they don’t so I know I have to work on playing around my teammates

I hit GC1 for the first time like 6 seasons ago, back then there was a subtle but obvious difference in skill between the average C3 and GC1. Now I hover between GC1/2 but the difference between C3 and GC1 isn't clear to me anymore. It feels the same. Only as you start getting 1500 and above does the gameplay elevate on average. The lines have never been more blurred.

I just wanna see if I can beat ranked gcs. I get gcs a lot in casual but I never made it past c2 so it’s just a curiosity thing at this point.
I'm 51yrs old and GC2. It's not that hard as long as you play correctly, not ball chase, rotate properly, and learn / practice your mechs.

THIS. i bought one of these damn controllers. its a scam. they get stick drift in like 2 months then you can't find the $30 replacement sticks anywhere. dumb as shit. two of the sticks cost as much as a ps4 controller so nah.
Another thing to consider in this ongoing series of videos about how f'ed up champ is, is the huge disparity of level that there is between platforms. I play on playstation and my wife on Xbox, we only play together and have ranked up slowly but surely to high C2-low C3. Because we cant to play together we have to turn on cross-platform, and it feels like we struggle much more against PC players than any other platform. Add up to that the GCs that are stuck at this rank and we mostly go from a game that we win without conceding, to a game where we can't touch the ball. Especially against PC players, we always feel like they can react more quickly, and I know latency can play a big part in this. At this point we would love to have the option to select the platforms we want to play against to go console only because it's ridiculous

I peaked 1500 ish last season after not playing for a year (got placed in c1/d3 area) and I can honestly say that the difference in rank between c3 and gc1 is probably the lowest jump I’ve experienced, it really feels all the same. The push from gc1 to gc2 is when it feels like the players are starting to be a step above.
C3 to gc1 is still quite a big step up, but yeah gc1 to gc2 is insane
As a rusty c1 (ex c2), C2 and c1 is a pretty significant difference. C2 and c3 is also pretty significant. I agree c3 to gc1 pales a little in comparison
@@boaz7028 c3 to gc1 is larger than the others you mentioned, that’s just how it works. If you compare a mid C3 (1375) to mid GC1 (1505) the difference is huge

I got an account where im gc1/gc2 in rank 3s and another account where im stuck c2/c3...its honestly mentally tiring to play in the second account. Everyone is so slow, they dont read the plays, they make me run around like a dog chasing the ball to retrieve their whiffs... Gc1/gc2 feels like home, im having fun, people are usually where they are supposed to be and read the plays when im passing or going for a solo or better, when i ignore the ball because i know they got a better shot at it and they actually make the shot!

Im like gc2 atm and carried my friend to champ2 with my smurf and he has never played this game before. Biggest issue in champs is that they throw away the ball. There is speedy champs but if youre consistent to clear/catch they have 0 goal chances.

I have an eswap s pro and yeah its lovely but it'll be a grind to get used to. At 1k hours in the game, I switched boost to right bumper and dar to b. That took weeks to get used to because my whole life I only used my index fingers to control bumpers and triggers. During that switch, I began using my middle finger for the right trigger and index for right bumper. Never considered doing the same for the left side because it was easy to hit both left bumper and left trigger with my index at the same time. The bad news when the controller showed up is that you can't do that with the eswap. So now at 2200 hours I'm going to have to make that same middle and index finger adaptation. Not looking forward to it but i think it will be worth it. Just know that if the extra buttons on the controller are part of the reason you're considering buying it like myself, they aren't their own buttons. They can only be remapped to buttons that already exist on the controller which is dumb and pointless. Still worth it I'd say but I'd rate the controller so much higher if the buttons on the back were their own buttons..

The bracket reset and then everyone playing placements at the same time usually causes a longer grind back to their original rank. Last season I ended 1510 after reset I'm 1432 so nearly a GC 2 in C3 lobbies.

Gc1 and c3 all feel the sams tbh, ive been stuck in the c3 div 3 - gc1 range the last few seasons, only issue is I only play like 40 ranked games a season because I have been playing other games like siege, just feels like rocket league has fallen off and isnt quite fun anymore

Ngl im stuck in plat 3 div 2-4 and for some reason i keep having loss streams and win streaks but cant seem to hit diamond 1, sometimes my t8s leave and stuff,i dont have that much air mechanics but my ground mechanics,rotation and studying the plays are insane. Also my passes are insane
12:50 I kind of feel like the last guys. I had gotten to literally champ 3 div 4 a few seasons ago, but never gc. I just play what I think is fun at the moment, so on and off for rocket league. If I was going to grind my mechs and VOD review for a solid few weeks I feel like I could get to gc, I just don’t have the drive anymore to rank up.

You know I'm Champ 2 atm, but was previously GC 1600 in 2's/3's. I stopped playing for over a year and came back, but I don't think I deserve GC until I put in wayyy more practice and learn new mechanics. The player base has objectively gotten better and there's more people. Like teaching an old dog new tricks lmao

If i tried means like you got to be in a proper mental state to go from champ to gc, thats 2-4 games per rank and that promotion game easily gonna be the sweatiest game, and then you got smurfs too its less stressful to just stay in champ

Those last couple teams could definitely punch up into GC. I haven't played in a week, and that's kinda the norm at the moment, I just have other things that I need to do. I don't deserve GC because I'm pretty inconsistent and my mechanics are pretty bad, but I have gotten close in a couple seasons in the past. But my issues aren't the only ones, the Champ region is a hell hole. XD

Hit gc back in season 11 and got my rewards stopped playing after that i dont care to ever get it back i just play casually now every couple of days/weeks and sit around high c2 to mid c3 honestly i enjoy the game a lot more now then when i was sweating my ass off trying to hit gc

Ranked 2s is so much different nowadays. I used to consistently get GC in 2s, now I’m hard stuck c2 all season. Even tho, on good night, I deserve to get that GC title back
It makes me sad to think about stuff like this, I hit c1 in season 9 with about 250 hours on the game, now I have 800 and I’ve only gotten to c2, almost c3 this season

One game you get a toxic tm8 that doesn’t play, the next game you play against smurfs, it’s almost impossible to win a couple games in a row. Most of my sessions recently are me spending hours trying to grind, ending in positive 1 or 2 wins on good night
i feel like beating gcs is different from deserving the rank like i have been beaten by champs before and i am gc. I think its just how they fair up against all the different playstyles in gc is the problem

Are you on PC? Bakkesmod can show your casual MMR. Your casual MMR isn't indicative of anything, but 1800+ unranked MMR is GC all the way to SSL range, simply because you're probably winning more games to get more MMR. I know bc I'm in the 1800s in unranked and sweaty games have consistently had people in GC2 when I looked them up.

I get the "if I tried" guys. I don't really care for ranked anymore ever since I hit GC1, I just don't have the time to practice to have a chance beyond that rank. Though whenever they reveal the season rewards I look if they're worth it and go on tryhard mode for 1 or 2 weekends. But Psyonix seem to reveal rewards way too late now, so last season I only got 3 days time to play and I wasn't doing well, wasn't well rested, I managed to go from C2 to GC1 and got 3 wins in, but it all went downhill from there and I didn't make it in time.
They do that on purpose to boost the playercount in the last few days of the season
I am plat 2 but feel like I could be p3/D1 because I play with D2 consistently and we win about 50/50
But the ranking up system you have to be able to carry your teamate unless they're on their rank up game as well which I cant
